There is a strict policy that all pet owners pick up waste from their dogs and that dogs be quiet, well-mannered, and under immediate control at all times so as not to disturb other campers. There is NOTHING like being in the wilderness of this area for a good re-centering of the soul! We have found it to be a true blessing for our family, and we hope you can experience this blessing as we share this space with you.
We feel certain you will not be disappointed with our beautiful river canyon. Our property is situated right on the middle fork Cosumnes river. The swimming is awesome and the stars at night will put you into a state of awe!
In the area there are many family owned wineries in the area, most of them offering free tasting! It’s a short drive to Tahoe and the Marshall gold discovery site as well as the historic hangtown Placerville. We are happy to make suggestions for local hiking areas, like the Devil's Slide "Gorge" only a 15 minute drive but like a trip to mini Yosemite. The Caldor Fire was VERY close to our property and a back burn was initiated nearby the our house (literally 200' away!). Our property became a pivotal point of fighting the fire in our community known as the “Ant Hill Army”. Ask us about the story!

The host couldn't have been nicer. They greeted us at the gate and drove down with us to give us a run down of the camp and how everything works. 4 wheel drive is a must to get to campsite. 10/10 experience and will be coming back!

We had a great 2-night stay in site #4! It was exactly as described and perfect for my mobility-challenged husband, our dog, and our 15ft travel trailer. The river sounds were soothing, the expansive meadow and tall trees provided picturesque surroundings for our stay. We had the place almost completely to ourselves for the weekend. Hosts were very responsive to my questions ahead of time and even on our drive up as we needed clarification regarding the directions. Note to others coming up from the Stockton area—you can disregard the instructions about plugging in an alternate location for directions to avoid the impassable road, that’s for travelers coming from Placerville.

Weekend Trip to Camp Electra in Mokelumne Hill
We had a wonderful stay in Ryan’s vintage VW bus. The bus is incredibly cute and very clean, and opening the pop-top made it feel surprisingly spacious and comfortable. The outdoor bathroom was also spotless and well maintained.
Ryan gave us the most thorough orientation I’ve ever received from a host. He took the time to explain every detail and made sure we knew how everything worked. He is an excellent communicator, and even though we booked very last minute, he took great care of us and worked with us to arrange a check-in time that suited everyone.
The property was peaceful and quiet at night, and we slept really well. If you love vintage vehicles, this is such a fun and memorable experience. We were very happy with our stay and would absolutely recommend it.

Scott’s place is incredibly wonderful! Far off grid, really out in the wild :) he has built several structures including a big outdoor kitchen area, a 5 or 6 story tree house, an outdoor shower where you can bathe in the sunshine etc etc :) there’s two barn kitties who were very demanding of cuddles :) the seasonal creek was running during our visit & the little swimming hole was full, fresh & a short walk from camp! Scott is a great host, warm and welcoming! Would most definitely stay again!!!

This site was beautiful, we were at campsite 5 which had immediate river access, although there are various entry points around the whole site. We shared a lot with campsite 6 and 7 but had plenty of space to ourselves. They provided a picnic table along with another table which was handy for the rest of our gear.

We had a fantastic stay at Cosumnes River Ranch Campsite #5. The scenery is gorgeous, the river provided the perfect nighttime soundtrack, and the swimming hole became our daily headquarters. Our campsite and the bathrooms were impressively clean, so relaxing came easy. Fair warning: cows roam the property and may wander through camp at night for a drink—basically oversized roommates making a midnight refrigerator run.

Terry and his son where wonderful and so accommodating. I really appreciated his able to fit us in at last minute and his local knowledge of all things on that property is amazing.
The site itself is a slice of heaven with everything you need for a relaxing break or fun adventure. Secluded, beautiful and packed with history. Totally made my birthday camping trip something special. Highly recommend will be back for sure!

We can see why this spot has so many glowing reviews! Not only are the hosts super responsive and caring, but this property seriously feels like camping in the middle of nowhere. The ranch is huge and we barely saw anyone during our stay. If you want a relaxing stay along your own private river, book quickly!

What a great experience! The site is right next to the river, easy access to bring our paddle board and for our dog to run in and out of the water.Tom stopped by and was SO friendly! He even came back the next day to teach us how to sift for gold. We will definitely be returning and had the best experience!! Highly recommend!!!

What a great adventure we had. Everything was perfect. Camp site was good, quiet and right near the river. Gordon, the dog, loved the swimming hole. The site was clean and the hosts were lovely. We even got some fresh eggs for breakfast. We couldn't have asked for more.

Such a gorgeous piece of land! Clearly all of the built spaces have been a labor of love for Bobby. I imagine it will continue to grow and evolve. I was the only one there (which is what I wanted) but I imagine it would be much different with lots of people staying, as the sleeping rooms are fairly close to each other. The outdoor kitchen is fantastic!
Bobby was communicative and kind. I loved staying here.

I loved camping at this location. It was beautiful, well taken care of, and the owners were so incredibly nice. We really enjoyed staying in the little camper especially because it had a propane stove, running water and electricity! We were close to two lovely watering holes and the girls enjoy their first camping experience

About
Indian Grinding Rock State Historic Park (IGR) is located in the Sierra Nevada foothills 12 miles east of Jackson, CA. The park nestles in a little valley 2,400 feet above sea level with open meadows and large valley oaks that once provided the Native Americans of this area with an ample supply of acorns. The park was created in 1968 and preserves a great outcropping of marbleized limestone with some 1,185 mortar holes -- the largest collection of bedrock mortars in North America.
