We have four lovely Glamping sites at Sugarloaf Ridge State Park and 25 miles of hiking trails, nestled in the glorious chaparral of the Mayacama Mountain Range and Sonoma Hills, deep in the heart of wine country. The cost is $150 per night on weekends (Fri and Sat) and $125 per night on weekdays (Sun-Thurs). There is a 2-night minimum stay required between Memorial Day and Labor Day. In our family-friendly campground, our tents are 16-Foot Canvas and come with one queen-size bed, two futon lounge chairs (May be converted to twin beds), rugs, tables, lighting, and complementary firewood the first night. At no additional cost, we can add up to two twin beds to each tent upon request to sleep up to 6 people. 8 people max allowed at the campsite. The glamping sites include a picnic table, fire ring, outdoor seating, and room for additional tents if desired. All sites are easy walking distance to flush toilets and a bathhouse, with large, clean, coin operated hot shower rooms. There is no cell service in the park, but free WiFi is available at the Visitor Center. PLEASE NOTE that Bedding (sheets, pillows, blankets) IS NOT included in a standard rental, but is available as an add-on. Guests are encouraged to bring their own bedding whenever possible. If no bedding is added, we will assume a one-queen setup with mattress covers only. We kindly ask guests to provide at least 48-hour notice if bedding will be required. We will always try to accommodate last-minute requests, but we cannot guarantee this. PETS and SMOKING ARE NOT ALLOWED INSIDE our glamping tents! This is strictly enforced, and you WILL be charged a $150 cleaning fee for any violation of this policy. Parking: Your reservation includes parking for one vehicle. There is an additional $10 per night per vehicle charge for more than one vehicle, which you can pay for at the Visitor's Center upon check-in. Please note that a $25 setup/cleaning fee is charged per reservation, plus a booking fee. Since 2012, operation of Sugarloaf Ridge State Park has been spearheaded by the Sonoma Ecology Center. Operating under AB42, the SEC efforts have resulted in a revitalized park that engages with all of our community and welcomes visitors from all over the country and the world.

Welcome to our family land! We are a low-key, rustic, proudly affordable option in Calistoga, with amazing views and open space to explore, just 10 minutes outside of the charming town of Calistoga. Our camp is open May to October, and when you book a site, you get access to the whole property so you have options of which site to set up in. Book Manzanitas but show up and like Shaded Oak better? No problem, just stay there. Decide you want one of the glamping cabins? Just pay the extra, and the door combo will be revealed. The hilltop is for day-use, showering, etc. and readily accessible for Coral Cabin guests right next door. It also shares space with our main house tenants so it is the least private, but has the best views. The family is quiet but you will hear cars come and go from the hilltop. Last, we expect all guests to leave the sites cleaned up and “better” than you found it, with the exception of Coral Cabin which has a cleaning service and $30 fee. If this sounds good, read on for some general information about the property and see Sites for information about each site option: The nature and beauty comes with your fair share of roughing it, as even the Coral Cabin is not an Air BnB since it has outdoor toilet, shower, etc. All sites have their own compost toilet and handwashing station, with flowing water at the hilltop Cafe, which has a hot shower, grill, sink, power outlets and Wi-Fi, coffee maker, microwave and toaster, and bathtubs for an extra charge. *Coral Cabin also has the largest, flattest spot for an RV, with great views and cabin access if you wanted. This cabin is our premier ‘roughing it’ experience complete with electricity, WI-FI, TV with Roku, and an AC unit. All sites: Pack your trash to deposit in the Hipcamp trash bin at the bottom of hill. Add mulch to the toilets! Wipe your surfaces. Leave it better! We are proud to be an affordable option in Calistoga and If you agree to respect the land and "leave it better," we would be happy to host you!

The stay area consists of four buildings, the main one being a super cozy tiny house built on a 16' trailer, filled with custom woodwork and unique details. It sleeps up to four and has a kitchen (sink, microwave/oven, mini fridge, and propane stove) and small dining area. In the middle of wine country, it's only a thirty minute drive to the coast or to the redwoods, and one hour from San Francisco. Plus easy access to the bike path leading to both Santa Rosa and Sebastopol. Weather issues: The tiny house has heating but no AC, which is not normally an issue unless daytime temperatures are in the mid 90s or higher. Summer nighttime temps are usually in the 50s and the space cools rapidly with windows open. The rec room has both heating and AC, which can be slept in in the case of extreme temperatures. In the winter, heavy rainfall can make the stay unpleasant as you need to move outside frequently between buildings.

We are conveniently located off of US 101, therefore there may be some freeway noise, during commute hours especially. It has become like white noise to me, but it is only fair to mention it. We offer full hookups which consists of 50 amp & 110 volt electrical outlets, potable water, sewage dump. We also have one pigtail available (with a refundable deposit) if needed to convert 50 amp to 30 amp. We also have one place in the middle of our big vineyards with a 30 amp and water only. No sewer. Our sites are located one mile from Healdsburg plaza, the heart of Sonoma County Wine Country. Our town offers amazing wineries, fantastic restaurants, and quaint shops. It is an excellent place for wine lovers. There is a pre-prohibition winery right across the road called Foppiano. There are many other fabulous wineries are nearby. Ask the host for discount passes or complimentary tasting cards for some of the local wineries. We are in an excellent location for outdoor adventurers. There are plenty of hiking trails near by as well as bike rental shops for those who enjoy trekking, and even a couple of rafting places right here on the Russian River. We are close to places like Armstrong Woods, Safari West, Getaway Adventures, The Sonoma County Fairgrounds which hosts the Summer Country Concerts among other events, Harmony Festival, Santa Rosa Full Camp; Half Marathons Camp; 5K, Sonoma Zip-line Adventures, and Much More! Excellent Group Site! We only host one group at a time so you can be with your family and friends in a large, flat and private space. Choose between the campground, the cabin, or both! You can add the cabin to your campground stay under "extras'! The land was originally purchased in the 1980's. Since then, it has been used by four generations of the family as a place to gather, relax, camp and even celebrate. I had my wedding on the property in 2010. For a few years we held an annual music festival with the very inventive name of Samapalooza. Up to 400 people would attend the day filled with live music, food and drinks. You will still find the stage and bar we built as an outdoor kitchen and dining area. Around 2008, my father and I planted our first olive trees. Many have been planted since which has gifted the land the timeless sense of purpose it deserves. My father dedicated his last years to tending the young trees and now I have taken the mantle to carry the farm forward. 'The Property', as it is known amongst family and friends has always been a place to camp. I have sat around the same fire ring for decades, rain or shine. I hope that fellow hipcampers can find the joy that my family and I have experienced here. This is a very private camp on a small olive farm. Geographically close to highways and the town of Novato, Sonoma and Napa wine country, this camp feels remote and secluded. Only one camp on the property to keep it private and special. You basically have your run of the land. We have just updated the land and made some nice improvements. Located on ten acres, you will drive past a small olive grove before reaching the spacious and open campground. Just up the hill from the camp is a private pond where you can fish, take out a small boat or just sit and watch the birds. It can be great swimming on hot summer days. This spot has been used by the family for decades and is now open to share with fellow nature lovers. Just a note: While the majority of the time you can expect complete privacy, this is a working olive farm. From time to time you may run into me (Sam) or someone else associated with the land. We will always do our best to respect your space.

The Meadow Grove is a wild and natural pasture with campsites located near the historic Narrow Gauge Railroad bed on a family owned working ranch in coastal Northern California. The camp sites are nestled in a pasture and grove of mixed Eucalyptus, willow and cypress trees. The sites are perfect for tents or camper vans, or small trailers. [When we open in the spring, the grass can be 'slippery' and it is recommended you have 4WD. Around mid-June it is dried out enough for 2WD access to all sites]. Not suitable for RVs It is also, managed and operated by a single mother. Please keep this in mind. Notes about the campsites are: They each come with a picnic table. The grounds are a working ranch, so there is variations of the soil- some lumps and bumps and general natural state of a pasture v. a groomed lawn. Site #1, #2, #3, and #4 have the most level areas for parking and tent-ing. Up until mid-June, we recommend #1 for 2WD access. Campervans that do not have 4WD may have trouble accessing other sites. Please remember this when you book! *Campers who "change sites" without written approval by the host will be charged double!* There is a composting camp toilet, we do not have running water at the campground. The ranch itself is 300 acres of rolling hills pasture, with hilltop views of the Estero Americano valley. The Meadow Grove is home to many varieties of raptors and other birds-providing excellent bird watching. Seasonally there are blackberries to fill your containers, and some hiking. We are mere minutes from the quaint towns of Valley Ford, Tomales, and Dillon Beach, and a short drive from Bodega, Bodega Bay or Marshall, Pt. Reyes Station and Inverness. Nearby attractions include: Sonoma Coast beaches, Pt. Reyes National Seashore, coastal hiking trails, local farm-to-table eateries. Inland attractions include: redwoods, wine tasting, Russian River activities and so much more. The ranch borders Hwy 1, so there is some degree of road noise. Traffic usually dies down mid afternoon, and isn't too much of a disturbance. Virtually all traffic on our stretch of road is daytime traffic. There can be however, some heavy weekend traffic during the day with car clubs and motorcycle riders enjoying the coastal highway. *The Friendly Gray Cat's name is Boots!*

Weekend Trip to Golden Rocks Permaculture Farm

The host was friendly, knowledgeable about the medicinal uses of plants, good natured, and very welcoming. We learned a lot and she gave excellent recommendations for local experiences including Harbin Hotsprings and Beaver Creek Tasting Room - both must visits!! We had a romantic and relaxing getaway thanks to Brenda and her land. We would definitely recommend the farm breakfast for a nice start to your morning with fresh tea, garden veggies, and socializing. If you’re someone who likes to learn definitely take her herb walk! You’ll learn lots about plant medicine and native species. Thanks Brenda for the perfect visit!

Great spot under shaded oaks and pine. View of Calistoga in the distance. Amazing outdoor shower! A bit narrow and tucked on a hillside, but layout is fine. Peter was an awesome host - kind and responsive. Would return in a heartbeat - base camp to endless destinations.

Peaceful setting and beautiful views. There is a $10 dump station at a Shell gas station about 11 minutes away where you can empty and clean out your RV grey/black tanks after your stay. I would definitely recommend.

Great location, close to many wineries and downtown Sonoma. The RV spot is directly behind the host’s house, but we parked to face the beautiful vineyards and it felt perfectly private. Beautiful sunsets, woke to see the sky dotted with hot air balloons. Pretty magical.

We had a wonderful time! The space is huge and very private. The pond was pretty, the morning and evening fog were so serene. The outdoor shower made camping super ideal - especially for 4 days. Loved the little sink area and the fire pit. All of the picnic tables made setting up/having counter space no issue at all. Also, the porta potties were the cleanest porta potties I’ve ever seen. There were a lot of local hikes/walks that were beautiful - only a short drive away so we could explore during the day and come back to a beautiful site afterwards. We had an amazing trip and hope to come back again in the future!

We had a wonderful stay, and this is a first rate Hipcamp site! Lorri is a great host with a well managed property! She is very helpful and responsive for anything you need. Her property is the perfect central location for checking out Healdsburg and surrounding towns. Little Vineyard 91B site 2 is a sweet spot with views of the property’s cute, quiet neighbor houses, barn, the little vineyard, and the long gray neighbor shed. It is easy enough on the eyes. There are many new plants, so Lorri’s place will only get better as time goes by. Parking space is wide and level! There is open space on the awning side view. Freeway sounds were not too bad for us, but as tolerable as you are sensitive to it. Utilities are a little wide apart, with sewer behind and electrical in front of our 21-foot camper. We made it without extra length, but bring extra utility lines if needed. Highly recommended!

We almost hesitated to leave a glowing review because part of us wanted to keep it a well-guarded secret (future availability anxiety is real 😉)… but if you have the opportunity to stay here, you absolutely should. Peter is a wonderful host. Genuinely warm, welcoming, and clearly loves meeting people and sharing his beautiful property. From the moment we arrived, it felt less like checking in somewhere and more like being thoughtfully welcomed. His care for the land and the experience really comes through. The setting is peaceful, beautifully maintained, and designed in a way that lets you fully relax and settle in. Everything felt intentional without being fussy, private yet inviting. We loved our stay and left already talking about when we could come back. A true gem and one we’re very grateful we got to enjoy.

Enjoy great views and family-friendly nature walks at Sugarloaf. With 25 miles of trails, it’s a mecca for hikers, horseback riders, and mountain bikers. After dark, the Robert Ferguson Observatory offers killer stargazing. All of this adventure is an easy drive from both Sonoma and Napa.

There’s plenty to do year-round at Sugarloaf. During the winter rains, bring your camera for a visit to the park’s spectacular waterfall. Love to fish? Pack your tackle box and head for the Sonoma Creek headwaters. For families, the winding trails through the redwoods are ideal for public viewing of California wildlife. If you’re up for a challenge, the Bald Mountain hike rewards you with views of the Sierra Nevadas and the Golden Gate Bridge.

There are 40+ family campsites managed by “Team Sugarloaf”, each available for reservations. You can choose your site upon arrival—get there early for the best spots.

When to go

The best time to visit Sugarloaf Ridge State Park is during spring when wildflowers bloom across the hills, or in fall for cooler hiking weather. Summer can be warm, and winter rains bring the waterfall to life, but trails may be muddy. Layered clothing is recommended due to changeable weather.

Sugarloaf Ridge Campground

Things to know: Campsites here are cheek-by-jowl on top of one another. But, there are great star views in the meadow on clear nights. Campers with pets or small children should also be aware that big cats have been seen hunting here at night, so keep pets on leashes and kids close by.

Sugarloaf Ridge Campground

This campground has some pros and cons. The pros are many - a beautiful location with great hiking and a cool observatory close by. Huge California oaks and bay laurels, the latter filling the space with a wonderful aroma. Good clean bathrooms and showers. The major con is that the sites are jammed in close together, and, being a family campground, there are many kids. I love kids, but it can be very loud at night and early in the morning. No drinking is allowed in the park, which was fine with me! I might not go back but I'm happy to have stayed there.

Sugarloaf Ridge Campground

The national park is about a 10minute drive off the highway at Kenwood before you reach the entrance point.It is in fact the parking meter thing on the right as you go in.$35 for a night and go and pick your spot. The site is on a big loop where a stream wraps around it.In the middle is a large field. Campsites are large and each have benches/fire pits. Wood available from the ranger for $8 and 'hot showers' coin operated.25c for One minute !They are clean. Location wise, this is fifteen minutes from any vineyard, not walking distance. unless you are a reasonably fit cyclist the distance from the Camp on wheels is 25 mins at least. Peaceful place with only the sound of the stream running through, we had a lovely time here. Would recommend.

We had people literally walking through our campsite the entire duration of our stay, so don't plan on privacy. Definitely hike to the top of Bald Mountain! And don't worry about any small animals - there's barely anything here (assuming because of wineries).

Sugarloaf Ridge Campground

Most campsites are NOT secluded and people can be heard all around. The sites are located up the hill and there's a great field/valley for star gazing. Good for families.

There is so much to do around the campground: wine tasting, biking and hiking. The trail up to Bald Mtn is good for mountain bikes too. Tip: They have 10 spots that they keep open for walk-ups! They are also strict about quiet hours.

Naked Wines Studio is right outside of the park if you want to get your tasting on, although we suggest you do so after hiking or biking.
