There is NOTHING like being in the wilderness of this area for a good re-centering of the soul! We have found it to be a true blessing for our family, and we hope you can experience this blessing as we share this space with you. We feel certain you will not be disappointed with our beautiful river canyon. Our property is situated right on the middle fork Cosumnes river. The swimming is awesome and the stars at night will put you into a state of awe! In the area there are many family owned wineries in the area, most of them offering free tasting! It’s a short drive to Tahoe and the Marshall gold discovery site as well as the historic hangtown Placerville. We are happy to make suggestions for local hiking areas, like the Devil's Slide "Gorge" only a 15 minute drive but like a trip to mini Yosemite. The Caldor Fire was VERY close to our property and a back burn was initiated nearby the our house (literally 200' away!). Our property became a pivotal point of fighting the fire in our community known as the “Ant Hill Army”. Ask us about the story!

We are a small privately owned campground ( on the outskirts of Placerville. The property features 86.5 secluded Tahoe like acres with beautiful year-round Weber Creek. The camp sites are placed along the creek or the bluff overlooking the creek. We have traditional dirt camping, canvas tents on platforms, teepees and glamping tents for those that want the comforts of home. We are tent camping only with only one site that allows a small travel trailer or van. (#14) . We are dog friendly and allow dogs in all but 5 glamping sites. We do enforce camp rules especially our quiet time between 10 PM and 7 AM We’ve been told that we have a “family camp” vibe. We are a great place for families wanting a safe environment for their kids but also several group sites for those that want to hang out together with multiple families. We are also a great base site for those wilderness enthusiasts with access to all the El Dorado National Forest including Desolation but want a hot shower at the end of the day. We have a lodge that is stocked with games and a ping pong table. The lodge has a microwave, Keurig machine and a hot water kettle for those hot drinks (BYO Cups).We have several tables set up for those that want to eat inside as well as multiple picnic tables along the side of the lodge with overhead protection. We have electricity at the at the lodge for small appliances and charging phones. We have a compressor on site to blow up your air mattresses or float toys. We’ve been told that our bathrooms are the “cleanest” ever and have changing tables and diaper pails. We offer nice flushing toilets and hot showers! We have many extra amenities including a compressor to use for your air mattresses, For outdoor activities we have basketball, volleyball, pickleball and cornhole not to mention the playground with swing set . We have hiking trails throughout the property. Our highlight is a camp fire bowl with bench seating with a stage to display camper talent which is perfect for the evening fire and roasting s’mores (bring the fixings). The creek starts out in spring looking like a rushing river featuring many fishing and swimming holes. As the summer progresses the water level falls but is still great for water play and fishing. We have propane BBQs (we provide the propane for BBQs) located throughout the property. We also have a propane grill and charcoal BBQ located in the common area for all to use. There is a dutch oven pit also in the fire bowl area. We do not allow wood fires at the individual sites but each site has a propane firepit for ambiance (not cooking) that requires you to purchase a 20 lb. propane cannister on site (add in extras) or pay cash on site. No internet service. There is limited internet only available for purchases at the setore. We require a 3 night minimum for the major holidays - Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day. We do exclusive events so you may need to explore multiple weekends to find the right reservation. We are located in the foothills so we are a short hop to many local attractions that include river rafting, gold mines, wineries and historical towns with great eating establishments. Tahoe is less than an hour away and there a many hiking trails within 20-30 minutes. We have a limited number of items to rent i.e, tents, cots, camp stoves, etc. We rent a battery pack for those that use a cpap. We also have a small store on site for those items you forgot and a good selection of ice cream and ice. We take venmo or cash.

With a natural creek right outside your door and hiking trails right off the deck, this serene and beautiful yurt retreat awaits you. Nevada City is renowned for its excellent food, shopping, nightlife and farmer’s market. A leisurely walk into town takes 45 mins, bike in 15 or drive in 5. Grass Valley is 10 minutes away as well and has more food, shopping, and entertainment for you. Access to the Yuba River is as close as 20 mins to Edwards Crossing and 20 mins to Hoyts Crossing on Highway 49. We absolutely recommend trying to stay for two or more nights so that you can get accustomed to the space, learn the property, settle in, and relax. Each yurt has a wood-fired stove inside with plenty of wood stacked to keep you warm. Each yurt has a kitchen that is fully equipped with a hot plate, toaster oven, microwave, refrigerator, cutlery, pots and pans, grill, etc. Each yurt has a Queen bed with a heating blanket to help keep you cozy throughout the night. Each yurt has its own dedicated wood-fired hot tub. It requires a fire to be lit and maintained to keep it hot.  Things you might like to bring: headlamps,  robe,  flip flops, slippers, hiking shoes. Water: we are on a well and provide fresh drinking water in a container for you. It’s fine to drink, cook, and bathe with the water from the tap but it can have a minerally quality to it. We test the well annually. We provide filtered water but if it runs out, the water out of the tap is safe and delicious. The hot tub: it’s wood fired. This means you have to heat it with a fire to get it hot. This can take many hours to get to the right temperature. It’s a good idea to start a fire right when you get there! This tub may have leaves in it (they fall from above) and cloudy water. The water should NOT smell, the cloudiness is a part of the cedar tubs charm- ash from the fire and particulate from the cedar mix together. We treat it between guests with natural products that maintain the wood (you can’t use chlorine in these tubs). We clean it regularly. Shower before using it to wash off any oils please! The outdoor shower is lovely :) Fireplace: We will leave you a bundle of wood that comes with the rental. If you need more wood you can purchase it from us or from the grocery store. We have lots of wood at the yurt and we ask you to pay $10 per bundle if you use more then we leave you inside. This is on the honor system- It takes a lot of time and resources to keep wood stocked for the property. If you don’t know how to start a fire you may want to bring an instant log with you. Please leave the lighter behind for the next guest. Sleep: we have a heating blanket for cold nights, It’s about 10 degrees cooler on our land than in town. This is a real treat during our hot summers. There will be a fan for you as well during the warm season. We live in the woods, there are bugs and wild animals on/or near the property. This is part of the country charm and should be expected. Please don't leave food outside.  Land acknowledgment: We acknowledge that our property is located on unceeded land. What a special and amazing find nestled in the Sierra Foothills, just north of the Yuba River and the wonderful Nevada City. The cabins are (enchantingly, rustically) fabulous... Adam (and company) are an utter delight... the trails are beautiful (and plentiful)... the views are majestic... and the peace, privacy, and serenity uplift the body, mind, soul, and spirit. Highly (highly) recommended!

The experience was so nice! The shower was such a godsend went we went home from camping. The bed in the tent was very comfortable. My girlfriend is new to camping and easing her way to camping with the tent, bed, and shower truly helped a lot. Overall a truly amazing camping experience+ a little extra experience!

Weekend Trip to Camp Nauvoo

This is our second time camping here and we loved it even more this time around. We stayed at site #5 and was exactly how it was described. We love how convenient and close the grills were to us. The restrooms and showers were clean and kept up well. Greg and Charles were great!! One afternoon we seemed to have more wasps then usual, but Greg immediately placed a wasp catcher and it helped tremendously. Greg also surprised my wife with a cupcake for us to celebrate her birthday! We brought a friend that stayed next to us at site 4 and they loved it as well. We are definitely coming back and will refer Camp Nauvoo to our friends and family!

Camp Nauvoo is absolute camping perfection! We just got back from an incredible stay, and I can easily say this is one of the best family-friendly Hipcamp spots we’ve ever visited. The setup here makes camping with a family completely stress-free: Top-Notch Amenities: Clean bathrooms are a make-or-break for us, and the facilities here were spotless. The onsite cooking facilities made meal prep a breeze, and having access to the lodge for indoor dining was a absolute game-changer for comfortable family meals. Non-Stop Onsite Fun: The kids were entertained from morning until night. Between the basketball and pickleball courts, ping pong tables, and a massive grassy field for games, no one ever uttered the words "I'm bored." Creek & Swimming Holes: The onsite creek was peaceful and great for fishing. Plus, it’s an easy, short walk to fantastic nearby swimming holes where the whole family could wade around and cool off. Camp Nauvoo nails the balance between getting out into nature and having all the right comforts. We're already planning our next trip back!

Weekend Trip to Bright Bear Camp in Tahoe NF

My partner and I had a wonderful time staying here for our weekend camping trip. Kelley was a fantastic host and I would 100% recommend staying here if you’re looking to camp in the Tahoe national forest area. Our cabin was clean, in perfect condition and Kelley was always there if we needed anything. You’re 45 minutes away from Tahoe lake and 15 minutes from the Emerald Pools. We’re excited to come back and I definitely recommend checking it out. 5/5

2 nights at Cozy Luxury Yurt @ Lazy Dog Ranch

I’m not sure what I can say about Lazy Dog Ranch that hasn’t already been said. This was my first Hipcamp experience, so I read every review, and I can confirm, they're all true. The yurt was comfortable, private, and surprisingly well equipped. We cooked all of our meals there and had everything we needed, with the possible exception of a cheese grater, but no biggie, we made do. For a yurt, I was genuinely impressed by how much was provided. One small tip: it can get pretty bright inside in the morning, so light-sensitive sleepers may want to bring an eye mask. David was a wonderful host, and even went out of his way to return something I’d left behind. We had a great stay and would absolutely recommend it.

Weekend Trip to Flyte and Sparrow natural interlude

Stunning off grid property! Very communicative host when questions arose. As we drove out to the property, a fire started on a mountain nearby and our host assured us that we were going to be safe. Had a really cool opportunity to watch first responders fight the fire and even had a fire helicopter coming to pick up water out of the lake behind the property owners house. Stayed in the Tiny Blue and it was comfortable, but given the time of year, there wasn’t much of a breeze at night, so it did get extremely hot inside even with the windows open. Had access to a tiny kitchen and compost toilet right next to our site. We were next to a beautiful pond with a nice walking trail going around it. Saw all kinds of birds (lots of quail) muskrats, frogs, dragonflies. Very safe and welcoming place!

Just finished our 6th annual trip to camp Nauvoo and it just keeps getting better. We tried out the bell tent this year and it was perfect. Plenty of room inside to stand up and walk around, and space outside for an extra tent. We are so grateful to Greg for building such a special place that our kids get to experience for their childhood. They are always begging to come back. See you next year!

We only stayed one night and had the camp to ourselves, which was really nice. The two tents are close together so would be great to enjoy with friends. The bathroom is very, very nice and the tent accommodations were very comfortable.
