When you come to camp here you are on a farm in transition. Girlfarm has been a local food go to for restaurants, farm family members, and regenerative agriculture interests. Today, the farm is looking forward to a new course in agri tourism as we begin planning walking gardens, art installations in the landscape, and interactive classes.

Tiny home nestled in Tahoe National forest . This little gem is on an acre of land surrounded by national forest land. Close enough to Lake Tahoe but away from the chaos.
Host lives on property with 4 year old German shepherd. I typically leave for the weekend, however i will probably be there if booking during the week (Ill be gone most of the day though) . There are 4 neighbors but their properties are not visible, feels very private. Please be respectful of the neighbors property, they all have cameras :)
The front of the property where the cabin is located there will be some highway noise being close to highway 20 , especially during a busy weekend.
Tiny house:
•Full sized futon downstairs, no bedding provided please bring your own if planning on using the futon.
• King sized mattress in loft. Bedding provided but please try to bring your own!!

Welcome to Sugarpine Slopes. The Sugarpine has the longest cones in the world and many birds and mammals like the pine nuts and use the tree for habitat. This is a spring through fall place only. There is no winter access. The property is at 5800 feet. Depending on the weather the road may close from Nov 15th to May 15th.
The road on the property is a dirt road. All wheel drive or 4WD vehicles recommended although the lower section could be accessed by most vehicles. Shorter trailers allowed at Site A. Site 3 can also accommodate a small teardrop-style trailer
The property is totally undeveloped at this time. It is a wildlife corridor for deer and bear (keep all food contained), the mountain quail and the blue grouse. Keep your eyes open for the Hermit Warbler, Audubon's Warbler, and our gorgeous visitor from the tropics the Western Tanager. You are likely to hear the Pileated Woodpecker and if you are lucky you will see it and its red crest in an undulating flight through the trees. The property has a lovely west facing slope which climbs gradually at first then more steeply to the top of the property. We have drive-in camping on the lower section. There is one walk-in site at the top of the property.
There is wonderful hiking nearby with several trailheads in the area within approximately 4 miles.

There are two choices of sites to camp: At Site 1 you can park an RV or pitch a tent where you have access to a picnic table, fire pit, vault toilet, and amazing sunset views. At Site 2 you can pitch a tent and have access to a picnic table, fire pit, rocking chairs, and a hammock.
Bring your hiking boots or your off-road toys and explore 160 acres of secluded forest filled with wildflowers, butterflies, ancient Pines and Cedars, wild berries, and wild game. Spend the day relaxing, picnicking, and try your luck at gold panning on pristine Slab Creek where not a single human or road exists for miles. Bring your paddle boards and kayaks and spend an afternoon at Stumpy Meadows, a beautiful mountain reservoir a 25 minute drive from the property. Apple Hill wineries and farms are a 40 minute drive. If you bring the off-road toys you also have access to miles of trails throughout hundreds of acres of national forest. Don’t feel like cooking? Smoke on the Water restaurant at Finnon reservoir in Swansboro is a quick 20 minute drive from the property. If you need supplies, a nice restaurant, or a day of wine tasting to break up the grit, downtown Placerville and Georgetown are both a 45 minute scenic drive.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
1) To get the most out of your experience, we highly recommend a 4WD or vehicle, ATVs or eBikes.
2) The creek is at the bottom of the canyon, 1.5 miles from the gate at the entrance, and the road down is very steep and lined with blackberry bushes. We highly recommend an off-road vehicle/ATV or eBikes for easy access to creek.
3) Be aware you are in the middle of the forest and wildlife such as bear, mountain lions, rattlesnakes, and tics have been spotted on the property. Poison Oak is also common.
4) The property has cell service in the upper quadrant, however once you drop below the tree line toward the creek there is no service.
5) We highly recommend bringing a chainsaw or hatchet. There is an abundance of dead wood on the property that can be gathered for camp fires. Trees also occasionally fall on the trail which can impede access to the creek.

Set back from the lake and blended into the snow and trees, the hut can be difficult to spot in winter. Once you arrive, you’ll have a simple, communal base for exploring the surrounding terrain—whether you’re heading out for winter touring and snow travel or summer hiking in the high country.
This is serious mountain terrain. Please use extra caution: surrounding slopes are steep, avalanche hazard can be frequent, and conditions can become dangerous quickly when weather turns.

Gardnerville Ranchos is a desert oasis located at the base of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, twenty-five minutes from Lake Tahoe. Our property is biking distance from the East Fork Carson River.
The Ranchos is a small retirement community within walking distance of our local bowling alley where you can take (free) transit to Lake Tahoe, Carson City, and Reno. Carons Hot Springs and Wally's Hot Springs are both accessible via community (Dart) Transit as well.

We had an absolutely wonderful time staying here! The property is beautiful, incredibly comfortable, and Tod and Amy have taken the time to make the space very peaceful. The accommodations were spotless, and they provided everything we could possibly need for a perfect getaway. Tod and Amy are really welcoming and even shared some delicious treats with us. Their dogs, Blizzard and Stella, were also so sweet.
We loved walking the property with our own dog and really enjoyed learning more about the bees, visiting the greenhouses, and saying hi to the chickens.
The location is a huge plus! You are completely out in nature with all the privacy, and yet it is an easy 15 to 20 minute drive to Downtown Truckee. From there, we easily explored the area for rafting, hiking, Donner Lake, and Lake Tahoe. Everything is a very convenient drive away. Highly recommend staying here!

The most beautiful scenery I’ve ever seen.
The road is mildly treacherous, but my fully loaded 2wd ford transit didn’t mind it at all, so you will be fine. Host was helpful, facilities worked as expected, will be back.

We loved our stay here! Very private and secluded. The hike down to the creek is beautiful, it’s definitely a steep hike back up, so be prepared, but it is well worth it! Enjoyed every minute and hope to come back someday!

I car camped on Kelley's land and could not have asked for a better host. She greeted me when I arrived, showed me the lay of the land, and explained how to use everything. She was always available to help with anything. Her land is quiet and peaceful....making for a really great stay. if you're in the area and looking for a place to camp, book this site, you will love it...plus, the outdoor shower is an added bonus, the hot water mixed with the cool air makes for a crisp and refreshing way to start the day!

We had such a fun and adventurous time at the cabin! My family loved climbing in the loft and exploring the rocks and nature around. There is a road nearby but it's barely noticeable and being able to get on the road quickly made a trip to the grocery store easier.

We stayed 1 night in Site 2/Antelope and it was perfect. Arrived at dusk, directions were great. Site was pretty flat, enough to sleep in our truck bed. Birds, bunnies, howling coyotes and a fly by from a huge owl! No neighbors that night. Thanks for the fantastic campsite!

Very picturesque, with well maintained facilities (e.g. the portable bathrooms were clean!) and friendly staff. I loved that it was just a handful of camp grounds so we didn’t feel crowded in. The farm portion added a nice touch of extra things to do - really liked the communal bonfire! My only detraction is that the camp sites are right by a busy road so you could hear cars go by sometimes. But was only a minor snafu in a wonderful camping adventure!

Stayed for the week. Good sites, very easy pull through options. Lots of trees, so even though it was in the 90s the whole camp is shaded. Food trucks stop by. Walking distance to downtown and 12 min to Palisades. Clean facilities + Laundry for the win.

The campsite was EXACTLY what we needed: a safe place for road-weary travelers to stay the night.
The area is beautiful, Wendy was very communicative, and we were relieved at being able to find such a site.
I highly recommend this site for anyone who needs a safe spot to crash overnight (and doesn't mind stunning sunrise sights).

It was a lovely little spot! Perfect for an evening bed down on a long drive. Wendy was super sweet and responsive, and the only think I'd add is "turn left at the red wagon" and not listen to your lovely fiancé when she says "no turn right!"

Looking for some quality backcountry to explore? Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park's Spooner Lake might be exactly what you have in mind. Bring your bike or grab a rental to use on the miles of trails. Give a go at backcountry camping in tents or cabins. Fish along the shore and play in lake! With this expansive wild backcountry to explore, drop the car off (they’re not permitted) and the fun begins!
When to go
The best time to visit Spooner Lake is during the summer and fall months when the weather is warm and the trails are clear. Winter offers a snowy wonderland, perfect for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Spring can be unpredictable with lingering snow or muddy conditions, so it's less ideal for visitors.
Know before you go
- Check weather conditions and park alerts before your visit to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.
- Day use entrance fees are $10.00 per vehicle, with higher rates for non-NV vehicles.
- Pets are welcome but must be kept on a leash no longer than six feet.
- Remember to pack out all trash, as trash collection is not available in the backcountry.
- For cabin rentals and group use reservations, contact the park in advance to secure your spot.
