Little Scraggy Camp is located on 95 acres of an historic 160-acre ranch that was homesteaded by our family in the 1890’s, and is on the National Register of Historic Places. This totally off-grid ranch is surrounded by Pike National Forest, yet has easy access from a paved road. We offer several accommodations and glamping sites, as well as sites for moderate sized RVs, travel trailers, truck campers, vans, tents, and hammocks. Additionally, we have sites for small groups (up to 16 people) and large groups (35-200 people).
NEW FOR 2025 - two separate, professionally designed 18-hole disc golf courses with PDGA regulation baskets, and a Pro Shop with a free 9-hole putting course, which is great for those who have never played disc golf and want to try it out, (we have free loaner discs). Our Hipcamp guests get a 10% discount on player fees, their children play free.
Portable toilets are only a short walk away from sites. We also have several cornhole toss games set up. Friendly, well-mannered dogs are welcome to enjoy YOUR campsite off leash, but please clean up after your dog.
We are an ideal basecamp for hiking or biking trail enthusiasts,with direct access to the Little Scraggy Trail and Segment #3 of the Colorado Trail. Little Scraggy Trailhead is 3.5 miles away, with easy access for biking, hiking, or horseback riding on the many other trails of the Buffalo Creek area.
You might prefer rock climbing Little Scraggy or fishing the gold-medal waters of the South Platte River canyon below Cheesman Dam and the waters near Deckers. For a day trip, Wellington Lake is only 30 minutes away for no-wake water sports. Many people enjoy kayaking on the North Fork of the South Platte downstream from nearby Buffalo Creek.

We are a unique, community driven campground open from April - October. Bright Star Campground: Originally established in 2012 as a church camp, it is now a place to connect, create, and rejuvenate in this spectacular high desert landscape.
Bright Star Campground is located in the Great Sage Plain in the shadow of Mesa Verde National Park with panoramic views of the Four Corners region, and only 5 miles southeast of Cortez.
We are a cannabis-friendly destination but ask that cannabis use stay at your campsite, cabin or tipi.
There are many attractions nearby, such as Mesa Verde National Park, Canyons of the Ancients, Hovenweep National Monument and Phil's World Mountain Biking. Raft down the Dolores river, maybe rent a SUP or kayak and chill on a quiet reservoir.
We are located 45 minutes from Durango, 1.5 hours from Telluride, and about 2 hours from Moab (Arches and Canyonlands National Parks).
The nearest airport is in Durango. The nearest large international airports are in Salt Lake City or Albuquerque.

On the edge of Echo Valley Ranch, this area was named for a local opera singer whose voice could reportedly be heard throughout the valley and was described as magical. We are surrounded on three sides by National Forest land. There is plenty of climbing nearby, hundreds of miles of hiking and biking trails, including Miller Gulch, and Lake Wellington is just a few miles away. We have a 14 shot disc golf course on the property.

Hi! We are a bright family in a small community, developing our 42 acres in Crestone, Colorado. Our property features a host of cottonwood trees, a seasonal creek, a creative outdoor bath house and a 1.5 acre mini farm in progress. There is a bell tent available with a king. There is one tent or vehicle camping location. There is no shore power for vans/rvs or wifi near the camp sites. The property is also home to abundant wildlife including a Great Horned Owl, Coyote packs, Elk, Deer, Woodpeckers, Hummingbirds, Bobcats, Bats and Frogs, and the neighbors farm animals.
Crestone is a beautiful, remote, high desert wilderness surrounded by classic Colorado (almost) 14-ners with high alpine lakes, rivers, hot springs, rock climbing, mountain biking, and our property borders on the Great Sand Dunes National Park. Crestone is also known for its 30 diverse spiritual centers, incredible star gazing as a official dark sky community, alien sightings, and it's beautiful and unique housing community that focuses on building with reclaimed and natural building methods. Our home, like many of the homes here, is creatively made from recycled materials, using two train cars for the body of the house. The property also hosts a 1200 square foot Dojo, built by the previous owner, a Qi Gong master lineage carrier. We are completely off grid, using solar power, wood heat and some propane when needed. We aren't on sewer or septic, so this is an opportunity for the understanding of composting toilet and humanure systems.
Our goals on the property are to enhance our lives, and those in our community, with everything we do here. Our home and community provides an opportunity to learn about natural living and building methods, composting, the beauty and challenge of living off grid, and ample opportunities to be in nature. We host seasonal events that have roots in our ancient humanity. It is an opportunity to experience the deep quiet of the community of nature, while still having modern cleanliness and coziness.

Our land is out away from all the noise and lights. You can see the milky way and the stars at night are amazing. then to have the view of the Sangre de Christo mountain range is amazing to enjoy. The surrounding valley has lots to offer from the quant little towns and coffee shops to the home style meals at the restaurants. and all the hot springs are amazing.
Your site is overlooking the Sangre de Christo mountain range. The land is Alpine desert with sagebrush and ground cactus and incredible star gazing. There are 2 great hiking trails within a couple miles. There are 3 hot springs within 30 minutes. The Great sand dunes national park is within 1hr. The San Luis valley offers, hiking, mountain biking, ATV trail, Horse back riding, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, rafting, refuges for wildlife watching.
New for 2024, The flushable toilet and shower are now operational. The shower house is located in the center of the loop with sites 1,2,3 on the south side of the building. It has an on demand water heater, there is also a a flushable toilet located in the same space. An important note about the toilet, Do Not flush anything other than toilet paper please. DO NOT flush feminine hygiene products, napkins or hand wipes or anything other than toilet paper. These type of things plug and burn up the pump while pumping out the tank. This will cause the toilet to be unusable.
ATTENTION: THE SHOWER HOUSE AND TOILET WILL BE SHUTTING DOWN AND GETTING WINTERIZED OCTOBER 1ST UNTIL MAY 1ST.
No fireworks are permitted at any time.

This place is absolutely amazing and beautiful! It was the perfect glamping experience — peaceful, relaxing, and surrounded by nature, but with all the little comforts and extras that made it feel easy and special.
Tim is amazing and has truly bent over backwards to make this place perfect. You can tell he has put a ton of thought and effort into every detail, and everything we needed for our camping/glamping stay was already there. It made it so easy to just show up, relax, enjoy the outdoors, sit back by the fire, and take in the whole experience.
The property is beautiful, the atmosphere is incredible, and it was exactly the kind of getaway we were looking for. We will absolutely be back. If you're looking for a great camping or glamping spot, you will not be disappointed. Highly recommend!

Stunning views of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains paired with a remarkably comfortable bed made for a top-tier camping experience. Getting to soak in the clawfoot tub at the outdoor bathhouse was a welcomed treat after a long day of climbing. If you're looking for a peaceful spot near the portal, Lydia’s place fits the bill. I had such an enjoyable experience here, I absolutely loved the space and Robert was an absolutely amazing host!!! Any single women who have hesitancies about being alone, you will be safe here!! We booked both premium sites and they were amazing! The tents were clean and cozy, and we appreciated the amenities like a table, reclining chairs, air beds, and camp stove with propane. The campground is really beautiful and has a cool swimming pond with a tube slide. Sal, the camp manager, is super friendly and helpful. He even took our son out for a ride on his dune buggy thing. Excellent campsite, would Def book again!

We had an amazing stay at this cozy riverside cabin! The views are incredible, and it's a great spot to relax, unwind, and enjoy nature.
A couple of tips for future guests: if you're visiting when temperatures are above 90°F, be prepared for the cabin to get pretty warm. There is a fan, but bringing an additional fan will make a big difference. Since you're right on the river, bug spray and some fly tape are also good things to pack.
Those minor things didn't take away from our experience. We'd happily stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet, scenic getaway.

Weekend Trip to Placer Club
Amazing place. Extremely well-equipped, you won’t find a better mix of location and amenities provided. The Host was top notch and extremely receptive.
You are with miles of the best hikes, numerous 14s and 13s, fishing, FairPlay and even Breck. This is as good of a location for a comfortable base camp that you’ll ever find.
The yurt itself was clean, and perfectly loaded with everything you need, from cooking (little gas grill, cook water, utensils, propane) to water to a giant cooler, with ice packs provided.
I will definitely be returning.

The campsite was so well thought out, clean and comfortable. Tim thought of everything to make the stay comfortable and functional. The location was great. Remote enough to feel like a getaway but close enough to a lot of fun mountain town events and amenities. Would defiantly stay again.

Weekend Trip to Frenchman's Creek Ranch
We had a great time at Frenchman's Creek Ranch. The medium canvas tent site was a convenient and comfortable place to relax after a full day of riding motorcycles. There is lighting and a table inside the tent, wood Adirondack chairs on the tent platform, and some camp chairs that can be used inside or around the gas fire pit, which is a particularly nice touch during the ongoing county fire bans. The tent sites are located within a stand of mature Aspens and there is enough distance between the few sites to feel comfortable in your own space. The hosts were easy to work with and were super responsive to messages, yet unobtrusive during our stay. This is a working ranch and it was fun in the morning to hear the cows having some strong opinions about something. Overall, a great experience and just way better amenities than state or federal campgrounds, but without the crowding and institutional feel of true commercial campgrounds. Buena Vista is a short 10 minute drive away if you want to go do some shopping, dining or partake in activities. We spent a couple hours at Strange Craft Beer Company where we enjoyed great beer and live music in their beer garden. Would definitely stay here again.

We had a great night at this location. The central kitchen / community area was really cool. The vault toilets were amazing. It's far enough out of town to feel remote but close enough to run into town if you need something. There were so many provided extras it was kind of impressive - ping pong table, billiards room, microwave, tables under an roof, grill, and more. I am already looking at when we can go back.

The full campground takeover at Camp Always Choose Adventures was absolutely awesome!! Having the entire campground for our kids to roam was perfect for our group, and Chantelle was such an amazing host. She was always thinking about how to make it fun for our kids - from feeding the goats to the offroading "roller coaster", it was a trip they won't forget!
Chantelle was always a gracious host ahead of time, as we had a lot of questions that she was always ready to answer. She also thought ahead to get some oxygen for our out-of-state family, which ended up coming in handy.
I would strongly recommend this site to anyone looking for a space for a large group... we can't wait to come back!

Wideawake Ranch is a hidden slice of paradise. The premium campsite we stayed in was comfprtable and secluded from neighbors but still close enough to the swimming pond and the portable bathrooms to be a great location. The kids loved swimming in the pond, playing on the provided paddleboards, and finding juvenile tiger salamanders. We even had a huge moose visit us during breakfast, and that was a highlight of the trip. The camp hosts are friendly and proactive and the ranch seems very well cared for overall. I would recommend this place!

Group trip
We had an amazing stay! The site and facilities were fantastic, and the lake with paddleboards was such a fun bonus. Everything was clean, comfortable, and had a very homey feel.
We stayed at a premium site, and it had everything we could have wanted. The tent was already set up, which made everything so convenient, and the extra blanket came in handy during the rain. The owners were incredibly friendly and welcoming throughout our stay.
They even found our missing tent pole and returned it to us. The water was delicious, and their hospitality was outstanding. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing camping experience!
