Yeti Sanctuary

The stop at the Yeti Sanctuary is agreat spot. That said, the pond was only 50% full so No Paddle boarding. Tim was very friendly and greeted us as we arrived. We had 2 nights booked but only stayed for one night. The pond was a huge draw for us to go there so we were very disappointed that the water level was not mentioned. Good spot but check to make sure the pond is full.

Pond, not a lake

Felt mislead, as it seemed more like a pond, not a lake. The others camping were loud past midnight even though quiet hours was 10 & could their whole convo while attempting to sleep since the spots are very close to each other. Won’t be going back.

Tim was a great host. We camped at Lakeside 2 and had a good time. The pond is beautiful and there were very few bugs aside from some deer flies. Also the mountains here are beautiful.

It was a beautiful site, and the owner was very kind. I would recommend this site for sure if you are wanting an out-of-the-way location that is quiet, relaxing, and primitive. We had kids, and it may not have been the best fit for us. Again, the site is lovely.

Had an awesome time, Tim was super helpful and made sure we were all set with everything we needed. Due to the drought, the lake was a little low, but still had a great site, and were able to enjoy some relaxing outdoor time. We will definitely be back!

We were on the Lakeview site - it was spacious and pretty! Tim was super friendly and helpful when we check in, then gave us our space. There isn’t any hiking super close but we drove to Florissant and found a great National Monument, as well as live music at the local Saloon.

We had a great time camping on Tim’s land! The other site next to the pond was close but it’s because the grill and area near the cabin is common space. We didn’t mind it at all.

Overall, we enjoyed our time at this site. The host is very kind and was communicative via the messaging system. I genuinely felt welcomed and he was very receptive to questions and concerns. Pros: The site itself is serene and pretty. We enjoyed sitting by the pond and listening to all the birds! It is a bit close to the road, but it’s also a quick ride to the tiny town of Divide if you need groceries/supplies. The cabin itself is small, but cozy. The bottom bunk was comfortable for sleeping (my husband slept on the top, it was a bit hard for me to access). Tim also supplied a dog bed, which our pups appreciated. There are lots of extra supplies if you need them (blankets, pillows). The outside kitchen area was very convenient! Cons: The biggest con was the outdoor BBQ. It took us a solid 2 hours or so to brew coffee and we couldn’t get the grill hot enough to cook our pancakes. There is some various cooking equipment as well, though some of isn’t in the best condition. I’d suggest bringing your own cookware and grill so you can set up in the kitchen. Then you’ll be good to go! The other cons I’d mention relate to the size of the campground, and parking. Sites are kind of close together and there wasn’t a way to really park right at our site. Tim was a good problem solver and came up with a solution, but just be aware. Overall: We would return to this site, but with our own cookware and probably during the week, as we prefer a pretty quiet experience.

Loved staying in the lil cabin Perfect size for my son and I Even floated around on the water a bit Just the right amount of "away" for the weekend. Peaceful. Great weather too, we came up the first weekend of July.

This campsite is truly lovely. There is plenty of wildlife and we did lots of stargazing. We did not meet the host when we arrived. Just be aware that the toilet is literally a bucket with a lid, covered by a tent with a broken door flap. It’s fine if you’re able bodied but if you have a weak stomach and need greater accommodations I’d look elsewhere.

A Weekend Well Spent

Our site was nestled next to the pond with the most incredible views. Our dogs were allowed off leash and able to swim at their leisure. Tim was an excellent host and a lot of fun to chat with. This place is a nice oasis in the middle of the woods. We liked the lakeside camps ight, as the Sound of running water was quite peaceful. The bird activity was fun to watch and listen to as well. There could be better clarification on the toilet situation, as well as a warning about the neighborhood dogs that bark throughout the night.

First, Rim was amazing! He greeted us and made sure we were all settled in. He was helpful in answering our questions about the area and just a really nice guy! The Sanctuary is just that. Waking in the morning to mist rising off the pond and the sun peeking over the top of the ridge was a wonderful way to start the day and the property offered ample area for our dogs and 10 year old to explore. I would and likely will camp here again. Thanks for sharing your wonderful property with us!

Peaceful and quiet. There is WiFi if you need it. I didn’t want any and there is a little electricity if you need it. Tim was friendly. Unfortunately could not start a fire because of weather conditions, but he had a grill available. Definitely a place I want to go back too.

The Perfect Christmas Getaway 🎄

Very private in the cabin! And somehow feels remote, while still being right off the road for exploring! A perfect quiet get away with beautiful starry nights. Has a very well equipped outdoor kitchen area and even included some extra blankets inside for us!! Thank you for a beautiful, safe, memorable stay!
