Hiked the incline on the way in and went to Paradise Cove (less than 10min down the road) on the second day. Hosts have games and a chilling area set up, too!

It was a great spot for our get away. It was quiet and a pretty sweet spot for the whole family. The creek was great to play and rock hound in for kiddos. We enjoys a few nights hikes so my eldest kiddo could look for bigfoot. The spot was very spacious it allowed for our good size tent. The host was great and easy to deal with. Definitely will be booking another trip.

3 nights at Yeti Sanctuary

Loved tent camping on Tim’s land! Super responsive and gracious host as advertised. Just secluded enough to get away but close enough to get around if you wanted to explore the area. Tim’s full of great local biking and hiking info. His recommendations were spot on. From views, to trails, to local spots for a cold beer after a tough ride. The surrounding area is part of Pike’s Forest Park. Breathtaking postcard views of Pike’s Peak are only a couple miles from the campsite. Waking up to the pond views and crisp mountain air cannot be understated. Word of advice…The campsite is at about 8,500ft so take your time setting up if you’re coming in from sea level. It will catch up with you 😆 Plenty of dead wood nearby from Tim’s piles for camp fires each day. I’d recommend grabbing a bundle from the local market on the corner of hwy 24 before you head off the main highway to the camp if it been raining. Any SUV will reach each site. Loose gravel. No real ruts to worry about. Great solo and low effort camp experience is what you’ll get. I’m definitely committed to a return campaign in the fall.

1 night at Starlite Vintage Resort

We just got back from an incredible stay at Starlite Vintage RV Resort, and let me tell you—it was everything we didn’t know we needed. From the quick, hassle-free check-in to the spotless grounds, everything was on point. We stayed in the Betty Boop RV and it was adorable. Vintage charm with modern comfort—clean, cozy, and full of character. It felt like stepping into a romantic time capsule (but thankfully with hot water and a comfy bed). Perfect for a couples’ getaway with just the right amount of quirk. The heated pool was an awesome surprise—great for a relaxing dip after a day of adventuring and soaking in those ridiculously stunning views. Seriously, everywhere you look is postcard-worthy. The bathhouse and shared bathrooms? Spotless. Like, “do they have a secret cleaning fairy?” level spotless. While it was a romantic weekend for us, we couldn’t help but notice how family-friendly the whole place was too—play areas, pool fun, and wide open space. We’ll definitely be back and could see bringing the whole crew next time (but also… might just escape for another couple’s weekend again first ). Highly recommend if you’re looking for something fun, unique, and full of good vibes. Retro magic in the mountains!

I loved this spot! Me and my friends spent the weekend here, and it was a wonderful time. It’s not directly next to other sites, so there is a fair amount of privacy. Pretty close to the road, but that wasn’t much of an issue. Campsite also had a lot of space, so there’s plenty of room for a decent-sized group. Would highly recommend!

Weekend Trip to Yeti Sanctuary

My lovely lady and I booked a last minute get away from responsibilities trip here, jumped on my Harley and just winged it with a sleeping bag and essentials. It was the right decision and we enjoyed sitting at the fire late into the night conversing without the distractions of cell phones or the outside world. The host is down to earth and welcoming. The cabin is primitive and rustic which was exactly what we wanted and saved us from having to strap a tent to the bike also. Will definitely be back to enjoy this little slice of peace in the future! Cheers!

Rustic Creek Ranch

The 160 acre ranch was homesteaded by my grandfather over 100 years ago. He was an engineer. The plan was to use this property as summer grazing for his cattle. The cattle were wintered at the other ranch about 10 miles away, which was homesteaded by my great grandfather. Because my grandfather could survey, he made sure the property lines zigzaged up the valley so the small creek was in the middle to provide water for the animals. He chose well. It is a beautiful, quiet place with elk, deer and wild turkeys. There are tons of wild flowers in the summer. Columbines, the Colorado state flower, wild roses, paintbrushes and lots of wild chokecherries. With nice views of nearby mountains, open pastures, evergreen forests and aspen groves, it looks like it did 100 years ago. Plus, there are a couple of ponds for your dogs to cool off in. Since the first cattle, the ranch has also been home to goats, chickens, horses, and now more goats, alpacas and llamas. And of course the Great Pyrenees ranch dogs. I had a house built a few years ago and live on the property full time. The ranch is surrounded by Pike National Forest with the Colorado Trail connecting the property in a number of places. Some of the highest ranked mountain bike trails are nearby. There are lots of places on and off the property to hike, mountain bike and ride your horse. On a clear night you can see thousands of stars and hear coyotes howl. For a drone video of the ranch check out: YouTube's Midsummer 2020 Flyover. Elevation 8,000 feet, Average Summer Temperatures: Days 60-80 f, Nights 45-60 f, Sunshine Average 73-80%, Colorado Trail Segment 3, USGS Maps: Windy Peak; Green Mountain quadrangles. This is the official info. Basically, the weather is usually similar to the Denver area - just 10 degrees cooler. About 8 miles away is the small town of Bailey. It has just about everything you might need: small grocery store, coffee shops, gas, laundry, a dollar store, hardware store, camping and sports equipment, brew pub, winery, a few restaurants, potable water station and more.

K-Bar Ranch is a small hobby farm situated on over 20 acres of beautiful, rolling grassland sprinkled with pine trees and offering breathtaking views in every direction. Just off of CR102, we are conveniently located to the little town of Guffey and are only 3 miles from the wildly popular Guffey Gorge. Additionally, Eleven Mile Reservoir, The Royal Gorge, gambling at Cripple Creek, the Colorado Wolf Sanctuary, the Florissant Fossil Beds and many more areas of interest and recreation are within an easy drive. You can open camp here and be completely off-grid or you can park near our barn and have access to electricity and wifi. We also offer Glamping Overnights in Gypsy, an adorable tiny camper with a double bed, sofa, 2 burner cooktop and everything you need to have a comfortable stay while still having a camping experience! Glamping stays are still largely off-grid with a "Luggable Loo" and an outdoor Joolca shower (upon request). Our large 5m Bell Tent offers plenty of room whether you just want to stretch out or if you're traveling with family or friends. If you want to upgrade your experience, we offer Romance Packages with charcuterie boards, a bottle of bubbly, chocolate covered strawberries and can create unforgettable special occasions since we are in the wedding/events industry! About

Just outside busy Colorado Springs, Cheyenne Mountain State Park offers 28 miles of hiking and biking trails—many of which are dog or equestrian-friendly—along with a smattering of picnic areas, a campground, and a nearby archery range. The campground here is divided into distinct loops, many of which—including Gobbler Grove, Raptor Glen, and Swift Puma Heights offer full hook-up sites with water, sewer, and electric. For something quieter, the Meadow Walk-In Loop offers four tucked-away sites with picnic benches. There's also a camper services building with coin-operated showers, a laundry room, an activity room, and an adjacent playground.

Tips for snagging a campsite

You can reserve one of the campground’s 61 tent and RV sites through the Colorado Parks and Wildlife online reservation system or over the phone.
Reservations can be made up to six months in advance. Same-day reservations are also available, but not in person.
Only one camping unit is allowed per site, so multiple tents require multiple reservations.
There are plenty of alternatives for camping in the area, including RV sites, private campgrounds, and Hipcamps, if the Cheyenne Mountain campground is full.

When to go

The most popular time to visit Cheyenne Mountain State Park is between Memorial Day and Labor Day, when the weather is at its warmest. However, the park can get crowded this time of year, particularly on weekends, and the risk of heavy rainfall and thunderstorms is at its highest in July and August. September tends to be drier here, with fewer crowds once local kids are back in school. Most campsites and facilities are closed during the winter months (mid-October through mid-April).

Know before you go

Cheyenne Mountain State Park is situated just west of Fountain, Colorado, and about a 15-minute drive from Colorado Springs. Both areas offer plenty of options for picking up supplies and groceries.
All campers are required to have both a camping reservation and a separate Colorado State Parks Annual Pass or a Daily Pass.
Food and cookware must be stored in bear-proof containers or in your vehicle.
Dogs are welcome at all of the campsites as long as they are kept on a six-foot leash. Pets are also allowed on select trails, but never in the backcountry areas.
