This is the perfect environment to relax and be immersed in nature but not so perfect to be fully connected like you are at home as there is no Cell Service provided by any of the large carriers, (Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, etc…). We do provide free WIFI that will help send a text, make a call or check an email, but that is about it. The free WIFI works best near the camp store and some of the closer RV sites. It does not work at all at the tent sites. We highly suggest you bring your own internet (Your personal Starlink will work great here) if you are wanting stay fully connected, work remotely or do other heavy internet tasks. We want your stay to be as enjoyable as possible so please do not come here and have the unrealistic expectation that our free WIFI will meet your streaming, remote working or internet heavy needs.

In winter, the approach is 11 miles of over-snow travel.

Great hiking opportunities may be found right on the property, and numerous nearby seldom used dirt roads provide exceptional mountain biking opportunities. A level site with great access, and can accommodate large RV's and campers. And keep your eyes out - you might just see some Pronghorn passing through the property!
Directions from the town of Hartsel: Proceed 2 miles South on State Hwy 9. Turn right (South) on CR 53. Stay right at the fork at 1.3 miles. At 3.9 miles, turn left (East) onto lightly used Shawnee Trail (Note: On occasion due to County grading on CR 53, there will be a small mound to drive over as you enter this left turn). Proceed about one-quarter mile (and past the the POSTED NO TRESPASSING sign just inside the property entrance) to the campsite a bit further on the left.

We have 2 kids and 2 dogs that love running through the aspens, cedars, and pines.
There are 2 stocked fishing ponds in the neighborhood you're welcome to use. (Stocked in June usually).
Fire pit onsite as long asthe county doesn't have any fire restrictions.
You're welcome to drive onto the property to unload your camp gear but please park on the cul-de-sac.

I’d stay here every weekend if I didn’t live 1,500 miles away. Steve was very generous with checking in early, communicative, and helpful. The camp site has incredible views and is very secluded, yet has good cell coverage (I have Verizon) and a porta potty that seems well maintained. Can’t recommend this site enough.

Tim was incredibly hospitable and has done a tremendous amount of work to turn his property into a very inviting campground. I was very impressed with the amenities that he had included at each site (both glamping and regular campsites) and he was extremely friendly and helpful. The area is beautiful and is a perfect place to stay if you’re interested in a day trip to Breckenridge or a 14er hike. We had a pretty full campground and despite the sites being in close proximity we felt we had a space to ourselves without disturbance. T-Mobile and ATT don’t seem to have service out here but we enjoyed the time away from our phones and a chance to enjoy the wilderness. Would recommend.

Weekend Trip to High Camp, Leadville, Colorado
Super nice little cabin for two, and a secondary flat turf spot for tent camping. Chris offers a full service experience! He'll build your fire and even cook if you'd like! We were completely over prepared. The shower has hot water, there is a grill, and a personal butane burner in the cabin, there's an outhouse, and everything is hand crafted and clearly a labor of love. Setup a chair and watch wildlife walk right up to you, or wander up the winding trails behind the property. The site is only 25 minutes north of Leadville, so your backyard consists of world class hiking and biking. Camp Hale is just a few minutes north up the road for the history buffs, and Ski Cooper just a few minutes south. My girlfriend and I enjoyed the site and the host's company immensely and we intend to return to see Sando's vision continue to come to life!

The campsite was wonderful, has everything you might need. The family that owns it was so kind and accommodating. Live music on Friday and Saturday night was just icing on the cake. The bathrooms were so clean and tidy, large showers that are private when in use. We will certainly be back !

We had a great Labor Day weekend. The property was vey clean and our site was vey private with a lot of access points to the river. We saw so many dragon flies. We will definitely return to tent site 4.

The sites are pristine. Good landing for our tent and space for the dogs. Tim is a great host (and great dude) and provides a ton for camping: wash basin, lighters, garbage bag, dish soap, sponge, and camping chairs. Be prepared to walk a little, but Tim helps with a Bobcat.

We had a wonderful stay at Monarch Spur RV park The site was clean, level, and easy to back into. The restrooms and showers were Clean throughout our visit. The staff and camp hosts were very friendly and helpful. It was quiet at night, making it a peaceful getaway. We will definitely come back!

Excellent camp spot. Sadly it rained on us every night but gorgeous views, friendly hosts, firewood available and showers! We'll definitely be back when there's better weather. Trust your sat navigation when it tells you to turn. If you miss the turn in there's a little spot for a UTurn shortly after. Little bit of road noise at site 12 but the site itself it's amazing. The creek downs out most noises and provides great 'white noise'.

Loved the site. Private with a separate driveway from the land owners. Saw moose and deer. Clean, quiet and they have done a great job setting up the site and developing an onsite trail system. Will definitely be back.

Nice views of the mountains and perfectly shaded from the sun. Plenty of space to set up. We enjoyed the picnic table, Adirondack chairs, and propane fire pit. The bathroom was spotless with hot and cold running water. The location near Buena Vista is ideal.
