Directions from the town of Hartsel: Proceed 2 miles South on State Hwy 9. Turn right (South) on CR 53. Stay right at the fork at 1.3 miles. At 3.9 miles, turn left (East) onto lightly used Shawnee Trail (Note: On occasion due to County grading on CR 53, there will be a small mound to drive over as you enter this left turn). Proceed about one-quarter mile (and past the the POSTED NO TRESPASSING sign just inside the property entrance) to the campsite a bit further on the left.

Less than a mile from Gunnison river access, National Forest access in hunting units 54 and 55. Not far from units 66 and 67. Almont is a 2 minute drive, Gunnison is about 10 minutes away and Crested Butte is about 20 minutes from the property. The queen size bed will be made (additional cots can be added with advance notice) and the kitchen has a two burner propane camp stove, tea pot, pots, pans, plates, bowls, cups, mugs, and utensils. It is stocked with drinking water, oil, S&P, coffee, tea, marshmallows and fresh eggs from our chickens will be provided daily. The tent is equipped with a wood burning stove and stocked with firewood. Additional firewood can be purchased. Kindling and fire starters are also available at no charge- let us do the hard work - you RELAX! Electricity is provided, so you can charge your phone or whatever else you need. Enjoy your private fire pit, chill in the rocking camping chairs, or walk across the field to the main house and enjoy the hot tub on the deck. You may spot our horse "Sassy" or some of our chickens roaming around. A porta potty is situated near (but not too near) the tent for your convenience. Towels and wash cloths are also provided.

Amazing place. Extremely well-equipped, you won’t find a better mix of location and amenities provided. The Host was top notch and extremely receptive. You are with miles of the best hikes, numerous 14s and 13s, fishing, FairPlay and even Breck. This is as good of a location for a comfortable base camp that you’ll ever find. The yurt itself was clean, and perfectly loaded with everything you need, from cooking (little gas grill, cook water, utensils, propane) to water to a giant cooler, with ice packs provided. I will definitely be returning.

Tim’s campsite is super organized and well thought out. Tim is also very friendly. I would recommend his place to others! I am a super light sleeper so the road noise did bother me a little but most people probably wouldn’t notice it.

The campsite was so well thought out, clean and comfortable. Tim thought of everything to make the stay comfortable and functional. The location was great. Remote enough to feel like a getaway but close enough to a lot of fun mountain town events and amenities. Would defiantly stay again.

We camped at tent site 3 and it was lovely. It is not on the river bank, but we could hear the river and it was so soothing. The ground was level and mostly ringed with trees. We were able to fit a 13’ bell tent and a kitchen set-up with a ring of 6 chairs with plenty of room left. The office was friendly and everything was super clean and well marked. Plenty of activities for kids, including a playground. Loved it and we will be sure to visit again.

Tim was extremely helpful and kind! He cares for his land and is warm and welcoming to share with others! He helped us pack our things to our site and provided recommendations of beautiful places to hike in the area. Also, I feel like it was a bargain to stay with him (he provided a table, flat area to post up a tent, some supplies like a mallet and trash bags and dish soap and also there’s a drop toilet on site). We brought our dog and she loved it too. Will definitely try to come here again!

I took 2 of my buddies camping for their first time and couldn't have been happier with the site and hospitality of the host. The site has everything you need and has a great view of the surrounding mountains. You're not going to find glamping at this price anywhere else, so I feel very lucky to have found this spot. A very cleanly campground with beautiful views and great amenities. I was on a month long camping trip so staying at a cabin to rest and have some AC for a few days, while being able to recharger devices, was a great reset that I needed. Working on the porch, sitting in the swing was a bonus! Beautifully renovated restrooms/showers too, it felt quite luxurious compared to other places I’d showered during the month lol. Linens/towels provided in cabin as well. Quiet place at night which is much appreciated, respectful people, and each of the different camping styles are offered to suit all needs. Amazing place to be to take a break from tent/dispersed camping!

Remotely placed in the mountainside we had amenities that supported an excellent camping trip. Tim went out of his way to give local advice for hiking, biking, and skiing. Tim has created something really special here. His land is surrounded by beautiful forest in a quiet, tucked-away area. Tim has conceptualized and built each campsite by hand, with level tent pads on wood chips he’s chipped himself. We stayed in one of his glamping sites. Comfortable and cozy. And Tim provided water, a cooler, ice packs, chairs, a propane fire pit, a camp stove, utensils and cleaning supplies, and more. He couldn’t have been more hospitable and made our trip easy. He’s also highly knowledgeable of hiking options in the area. If considering staying here, I would only note that you will have to walk uphill to get to your site, but if you’re capable it is absolutely worth it! Tim also has wagons that make it easier to get your supplies to the site. Thank you, Tim, for an incredible stay. We can’t wait to return!

The video Alicia sent before the trip was a great orientation. It was great sleeping in a bed with great pillows and waking up with a coffee maker. The propane stove for cooking was great for breakfast and dinner. All of the utensils that we needed were there. Cell phone service was 5 bars and having electricity to charge our phones was a big plus.
