Placer Camp

Tim was great at communicating through emails about his sites and questions I had about camping sites for tents verses a small camper like I was in a Teardrop. Also, about best ways to get there, where to park and current Fire Bans. He was friendly and social during my brief one night stay. He has a very cool home-base location, just outside of downtown Alma. It’s wooded and feels private. The sites are spaced apart and at slightly different elevations. He had Bell Tents set up for glamping with exceptionally clean spots with outdoor carpets, new picnic Tables, separate tables, large 3-5 gallon water jugs filled for you, perfectly cut and stacked wood piles, that added to the charm. You can rent a small propane fire pit from him for $12 a night. They were all there on site. In case of a fire ban (like we had this year) this still gives you that feel and warmth of a camp fire. My map app took me right to his property! That was great rollling in as it was getting dark. His girlfriend greeted me at arrival and was very friendly and we chatted a lot, which made me feel very comfortable on my very first solo camping experience. And first Hipcamp experience! When I arrived he had a communal fire going and us 5 campers enjoyed that, as the stars made an appearance. And they are seen extremely well from his property since it away from any city lights. Overall Tim and his Girlfriend set the bar for all my future Hipcamp experiences to come!

Great Glamping at Site C

Had a great experience here. Stayed at glamping site C and brought my dog. The hill/climb to this site was definitely more strenuous than others but it was worth it for a bit more privacy. Tim has put a lot of thought and detail into developing the sites. The glamping site really did have everything needed; heater inside the tent, campfire, camping stove, cookware, dishes, cutlery, water, camping chairs, lanterns, etc. Each site also has a bear box so you don’t have to worry about taking food to your car at night. The 13’ tent was big enough that my dog’s kennel fit inside and it still felt like there was plenty of room. The port-o-let is about 300’ down the hill from this and was clean. Tim was very helpful and accommodating. We had some issues with the heater in the tent (temps were 35F overnight) but Tim concerned himself with ensuring we had solutions and warmth during our stay. I recommend and would stay here again.

I would strongly recommend camping at Tim’s location. It more than exceeded all expectations. It’s literally the most hassle free simple way to have the real camping experience. A great weekend stay!

Tim was incredibly hospitable and has done a tremendous amount of work to turn his property into a very inviting campground. I was very impressed with the amenities that he had included at each site (both glamping and regular campsites) and he was extremely friendly and helpful. The area is beautiful and is a perfect place to stay if you’re interested in a day trip to Breckenridge or a 14er hike. We had a pretty full campground and despite the sites being in close proximity we felt we had a space to ourselves without disturbance. T-Mobile and ATT don’t seem to have service out here but we enjoyed the time away from our phones and a chance to enjoy the wilderness. Would recommend.

The sites are pristine. Good landing for our tent and space for the dogs. Tim is a great host (and great dude) and provides a ton for camping: wash basin, lighters, garbage bag, dish soap, sponge, and camping chairs. Be prepared to walk a little, but Tim helps with a Bobcat.

We absolutely loved this campsite! Our group was split between this site and one of the glamping sites. This was a great spot for everyone to spread out and still be close together. The campsite was spacious and tucked away among beautiful, tall pine trees, which gave us lots of shade and made the whole area feel really peaceful. Having the picnic table, chairs, water, and bear box was super convenient. It was such a fun place to hang out, relax, and enjoy time with friends. We loved the whole experience and would happily stay here again! Our group seriously cannot thank Tim enough for being so accommodating and such a gracious host. He helped bring all of our belongings up to the site, set up, and gave an awesome hiking recommendation! Thank you! Would definitely recommend.

Had such a wonderful time here! The whole glamping setup was beautiful, cozy, and had everything we needed. The bell tent was super comfortable, and it was so nice having the queen mattress and bedding already set up. We also loved having the cooking supplies, cooler, fire pit, and heater. All of the extra amenities just made camping feel so easy! The site itself was gorgeous and peaceful, surrounded by nature and perfect for relaxing. Our group had an amazing time, and it was such a fun way to get away and enjoy the outdoors without giving up the comforts of home. We’d definitely come back and I would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to be “outdoors” without giving up all the luxuries that you have to when tent camping. The host of the site always went the extra mile with helping us out. He assisted us in getting all of our stuff to the site, setting up the propane fire, and gave great recommendations for hiking in the area. Thanks for a great time Tim!

13' Glamping Site B

Campsites should be more spread out. In our experience our neighbors were noisy and kept us up most of the night. They also had a dog that was not kept on a leash. It was also quite a steep hike with all our camping gear. No fault of the host with the wet weather, but due to the rain our tent also leaked onto our bed. Then host was very friendly though.

Tim has a lot of care for his property. We are excited to return and see what changes have happened. He is very thoughtful in his campsite setups. Campsite A was a bit unlevel which helped when the rain came to get the water out of camp, but it did make our sleeping bags slide down hill a bit each night along with catching things from rolling off the grill. It's not anything drastic, but is noticeable after a few days.

Tim's place was amazing to us as a family. He was very attentive and helpful throughout the time we were there. The lookout scenery was amazing from high-up in the camp site. The location of the camp is excellent with easy access to different nearby tourist town. Literally we only need to bring our food, pack-and-play, things for the kids; and Tim provided almost everything our family needs. We also went fishing in nearby lakes and reservoirs which are a short drive from the camp. We did not have the chance to use his kayaks, but definitely next time we will!

We loved staying at Tim’s site! His help at check-in was greatly appreciated and he really thought of everything when outfitting the site. It had a picnic table, camp chairs, and a bear box with cleaning supplies. All of this in addition to the great views and fabulous stargazing. Tim has been so intentional with creating this space to share and we will most definitely be back!
