Almont is a 2 minute drive, Gunnison is about 10 minutes away and Crested Butte is about 20 minutes from the property. The queen size bed will be made (additional cots can be added with advance notice) and the kitchen has a two burner propane camp stove, tea pot, pots, pans, plates, bowls, cups, mugs, and utensils. It is stocked with drinking water, oil, S&P, coffee, tea, marshmallows and fresh eggs from our chickens will be provided daily. The tent is equipped with a wood burning stove and stocked with firewood. Additional firewood can be purchased. Kindling and fire starters are also available at no charge- let us do the hard work - you RELAX! Electricity is provided, so you can charge your phone or whatever else you need. Enjoy your private fire pit, chill in the rocking camping chairs, or walk across the field to the main house and enjoy the hot tub on the deck. You may spot our horse "Sassy" or some of our chickens roaming around. A porta potty is situated near (but not too near) the tent for your convenience. Towels and wash cloths are also provided.

Thousand Peaks Ranch Campground in Hartsel has Scenic Mountains, is a getaway and a home away from home for many users. The campsites are best suited for tents and RV stops. Thousand Peaks Ranch Primitive Campground is a 40-acre site each with a table, fire pit and grill. There is a fee for its use and the stay limit is three weeks. We have well water to supply your shower and are located close to the center of the camp. Thousand Peaks Ranch offers a group campsite with 8 separate group campsites. From the property, you have access to miles of 4x4 roads, ATV trails, hiking routes, wildlife viewing, photography, stargazing, and quiet time by the stream. Spend the day hiking alpine ridges, exploring the forest, reading on the deck, or doing nothing at all. Beautiful campground, smooth check-in process, clean bathrooms, nice laundry, and as a bonus, outdoor games, board games, and an impressive DVD collection were free to use. Our tent was maybe 10ft from the river with tons of room to ourselves. Can't speak highly enough about this campground!

Weekend Trip to Agora Adventure Salida

We stayed in the 2-bedroom suite and had a wonderful "glamping" experience. The rooms were clean, with plenty of silverware/cookware/kitchen utensils available. Check-in and out was a breeze with the detailed communications we received, and the location is ideal for exploring the Salida and San Isabel National Forest areas. The only negative was that it was quite hot at night despite running the fans and opening the windows (which were a bit tricky to get open). The property owners are planning to install a swamp cooler for the unit soon, and that should help mitigate the heat. As a family of 5, we found this suite perfect (the sofa in the living room pulls out into a futon-style bed). Highly recommend this spot for any families looking for a nice glamping vacation.

Great little camping resort. The family takes well care of their property. The bathhouse was extremely clean. They had live music while we were there that was fabulous. Our camp site was nice and flat. The road noise was present but we already knew it would be. Next time I would book the site next to us as that site drives through ours to get to theirs. Not a big problem though. We had a great time.

As everyone else said, this was SO worth the hard hike! What an incredible experience, we can’t wait to go back A few things to know: DRIVING/PARKING: as of Aug 2026, the GPS coordinates for the parking lot for Tacomas and 4Runners leads you up the 4x4 HCR on Google Maps, which is NOT doable, so make sure you follow the written directions provided and NOT Google Maps!!!! HUT LOCATION: We had a hard time locating the hut from the city - it is up the hill to the LEFT when you are facing the HC city. we could not see the huts at all because of the trees and were very unclear where to go and it took us a little while to find Other things: - Highly recommend Cleveland Lake day hike - Easy access to water source when we went (slow trickle moreso than a stream but easy to get to) - Don’t recommend relying on the solar generator/panels - We hiked up the 4x4 road (by accident) and it was ~4.5 miles, ~2400 elevation gain. Constant uphill with tough rocky terrain Don’t want to give all the fun away, but it was even better than we expected and highly recommend this experience! We can’t wait to go back

There are only a few spots for small RVs, and they are all on the creek in an aspen grove. The sites are all well-maintained and have a good degree of privacy between. Our 2-night stay was perfect, and we would definitely consider this spot again.

We had a wonderful time at the campsite. The structure was small, but roomy enough for 2 adults and a dog and we loved relaxing under the covered porch. The grill was clean and worked well. We loved how quiet it was, it felt like a place we backpacked to rather than drove. Our dog enjoyed it so much that we had to carry her to the car to leave! Some tips: - the dirt road to the sitewas well maintained bit did require high clearance in areas. - Remember to bring water, blankets, grilling tools like tongs and enough trash bags to take out ALL your waste. - Be moose aware - we didn't see any but there were lots of moose droppings near the site. -pull the bear box lid straight up when opening not out! It took us a minute to figure it out!

We loved staying at this campsite. There’s a lot to do on the grounds. Unfortunately when we went, the pond was all dried up, and even though site 13 is considered a river site, it is quite a ways away from the river itself. Nonetheless, the grounds were well-kept and the staff are incredibly friendly people. The toilets and shower rooms were always clean which is an incredible plus. The convenience store where you check is was also very helpful in moments where we forgot small things. Overall, a great place to camp and would come back again!

One of our favorite new places to camp! From the riverside tent site, to the ample shade from trees, we absolutely loved this site. The campground itself was so wonderful - community BBQ, live music, clean/hot showers, full bathrooms, and wifi if you need it! Monarch Spur was very dog friendly with a dog park and poop bag receptacles conveniently located - and always great to see other dogs enjoying the adventure. The geographical location was perfect for us to explore day hikes or swims at nearby lakes, rivers, and of course downtown Salida. We are already planning our next trip back!

Situated at an elevation of around 9,300 feet in Colorado's Gunnison National Forest, Taylor Park Reservoir is a fabulous place for fishing, boating, and—when it's warm enough—swimming. Fish found in the reservoir include northern pike, kokanee salmon, and a variety of trout. A small amount of first-come, first-served camping is available at Rivers End Campground on the northern part of the lake, while reservable sites are offered at the larger, more developed, Lakeview Campground on the reservoir’s southern shores, where campers can rent boats.

Grand Mesa National Forest

Part of the collectively managed Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre, and Gunnison, National Forests, the Grand Mesa National Forest is full of things to do, no matter the season. Winter activities include snowshoeing, ice fishing, and snowmobiling, as well as both cross-country and downhill skiing.

White River National Forest

Pike-San Isabel National Forest

Home to nearly half of Colorado's so-called fourteeners (mountain peaks over 14,000 feet), Pike-San Isabel National Forest delivers when it comes to views. The trail network here is fantastic, with plenty of challenging, high-altitude options to choose from. There are also plenty of scenic places to camp, from developed lakefront campgrounds to quiet backcountry spots.

When to go

The campgrounds at Taylor Park Reservoir are open from late spring until the beginning of fall, weather permitting, and the warmest month of the year is July, with highs in the low 70s. However, even in the summer, the water temperatures may be too cold for most people to comfortably swim. While access to the reservoir is limited due to heavy winter snowfall, some people do make it out for ice fishing in the dead of winter.
