Nomadic camping
Best for self-contained campers. There are no toilets, showers, or potable water at this Hipcamp.
Our 220 acre historical ranch has been in the family for over 100 years. The property was once a gold mine stop for the Denver South Park and Pacific Railroad and we are still able to enjoy the train depot and telegraph house from the early 1900’s when the train was running through the Quartz Creek Valley. We are also blessed with some of the oldest, largest Pine Trees in the Valley thanks to them being on protected railroad property when logging was prevalent. Come enjoy over 2 miles of private prime fly fishing on the Gunnison headwaters of Gold and Quartz Creek as well as 3 different well stocked lakes. Take a stroll, run or bike along the private 2 mile walking loop along Quartz Creek. Keep an eye out for the resident Geese, Blue Heron, ducks and other birds who reside here on the islands. If hiking is your thing-enjoy the Willow Creek Hike that cuts through the property, among other scenic trails in the area. Choose from 4 different lake & creek-side campsites and come relax on our private slice of heaven!

John’s Lake

Tent site · Sleeps 10
John’s Lake sits at the East side of the ranch and it is also the largest Lake. It boasts the most bird wildlife as they tend to prefer the secluded Island you can only get to by Canoe. Nestled back in the pines of Blue Bird Gulch, you get a nice shady forest setting for camp with a beautiful view of the quartz Creek Valley and Fossil Ridge. Enjoy the walking path that surrounds John’s Lake for some private fishing or try you hand at fly fishing on Quartz Creek.

Anne’s Lake

RV/tent site · Sleeps 10 · Vehicles under 25 ft
Anne’s Lake Site is located at the western end of the ranch next to Anne’s Lake with a stunning view of Fossil Ridge and large volcanic rocks from the extinct Volcano, Tomichi Dome, just a few miles away. Nestled right between Quartz Creek and Willow Creek so you can enjoy easy access to fishing and the serene sounds. Walk over the bridge to the island to get access to all parts of the lake and even pitch your tent on the island if you are feeling brave! Arguably the best views on the property. The sunset can really put on a show so don’t miss it!

Quartz Creek Forest

Booked 2 times
RV/tent site · Sleeps 6 · Vehicles under 35 ft
The Quartz Creek Forest is located right along Quartz Creek inside the largest Aspen Grove on the ranch. It is a nice and cool, shady spot nestled in between an old growth mix of Douglas Firs and Blue Spruce Trees. It also sits right by the 2 mile walking path/atv road that goes along both sides of Quartz Creek and around the whole ranch. It is conveniently located in between each fishing lake-a half mile walk to both John’s Lake and Anne’s Lake, one way. There is also Sheryl’s Lake across the river only 1/4 mile away. This site is perfect for people with larger rigs who can’t quite make it through the twists and turns of the smaller atv road to the lakes. There is an approximately 40 ft turnaround on the location. Also fishermen and women who prefer to fly the creek would really enjoy this spot. You have a whole private mile of creek to fly fish. It is one of the easier spots to get in and out of as it’s only a short .25 mile drive over a few sage brush hills to get there on our small atv road. Perks of the Quartz Creek Forest include a small fishing pond called ‘Joe’s Pond’ which was hand-dug by Joe in the early 1900’s and was the first source of electricity in the Quartz Creek Valley via hydropower. The old dilapidated hydro mill is still there with the wheel inside. Very interesting location for anyone who is into the history of the area.

Willow Creek Volcanic Rock

Booked 2 times
RV/tent site · Sleeps 8 · Vehicles under 40 ft
The Willow Creek Volcanic Rock spot is a very special place to park for the night. It is a geologist’s dream! Nestled next to a very large Volcanic Rock Wall formed by the extinct Volcano, Tomichi Dome, thousands of years ago; is a small meadow and shaded Aspen grove to park your rig. If you look closely, you can see a really neat quartz vein that runs through the rock. Please do not climb and venture up the rocks as our boundary line is about halfway up. You can also park and camp along Willow Creek (Approximately 1/4 mile up the creek is all our private property) if you chose to be further away from county road 76. Feel free to take advantage of the Willow Creek Road with your ATV’s and use the back roads that connect to many other trail systems. It is also a very nice easy access spot for hunting on national forest land. If you look closely you can see the top of Fossil Ridge, and if you dare, you can hike all the way up there too via the Willow Creek Trail system. If you have an extra large rig; we recommend pulling into the meadow next to the rocks to be able to use the meadow to pull around when you are done.
