Creature comforts
Enjoy the comforts of home at some sites—including flush toilets, showers, and a kitchen.
Overnight, Seasonal, and Extended Stay Camping, we are open year-round. We have 30/50amp sites (shade and partial shade) around our lake, 30/50 amp in the "upper campground," and dry camping (full facilities) on the Arkansas River with Gold Medal fishing and access for all campers for fishing and floating. Many of our sites are great for star-gazing, watching meteors, looking for fireflies, and seeing the birds zip on by. We are conveniently located on Hwy 50, in Bighorn Sheep Canyon, and have all sorts of rental options for your outdoor adventure needs. Whether you want to pitch a tent, try out the glamping experience, enjoy the convenience of an RV, or rent one of our fully equipped RVs, we have the perfect spot for you. We have four entrances marked by sail flags into the campground, two by the lake, one near the bathhouse, and one by the post office (on our property). The map of the Arkansas River has our campground listed! Adventure awaits with home to the highest mountain peaks in Colorado and the river and 102 miles of Trout Gold Medal Water. There is access to white water rafting, guided fishing, and fishing lessons. There are at least 5 hot springs within 60 miles of Twin Bridges Campground. Salida is considered the white-water rafting capitol of the US by some and has a whitewater park and surfing wave. Salida area is also home to a ton of hiking (14'ers anyone?) and mountain biking trails. The Royal Gorge is a quick 30 minute drive with restaurants and other fun near Canon City. The Sand Dunes are 90 minutes and Monarch Ski Area is 45, we have some of the best bird watching! Warbling Vireo, Western Wood-peewee, Cassin's Kingbird to name a few.

Dark Sky Caddis/fish/stars

Tent site · Sleeps 6
Pitch your tent in our most private river site, which is situated feet from the river and small creek. This is one of our dark sky sites, come see the stars, meteors and fireflies! A small "bridge" (check out the photos) leads to the site. Bighorn RV Park has a tent site for their guests on the other side of the fence. There is one designated parking spot for this site parallel to the creek. Along with stunning views of Bighorn Sheep Canyon, Twin Bridges Campground has about 1/4-mile access for fishing in gold medal waters and is a bird watcher’s paradise. Caddis hatch is one of the best times to fish the Arkansas (April and May.) Caddis gets some direct sunlight in the mid-morning until mid-afternoon. The trees provide a nice canopy however guests may still want to bring their own shade June-September. We are in a climate called the “banana belt” which means hotter days, extended growing season and mild night temperatures. Each site has a picnic table and gas fire pit; you may rent a #20 propane tank by adding it on the extras page. Caddis is a 4-minute walk from the bath house; Wi-Fi extends to all riverside sites. Caddis is a raft-in and raft out site with room for two rafts on the shore. So, pitch your tents, drop your gear, and run that shuttle!!! There is a boat ramp in the area for all campers, we do not provide a shuttle service. Along with stunning views of Bighorn Sheep Canyon, Twin Bridges Campground is a bird watchers paradise. Migratory birds travel through the campground April-October. Symphonies of bird song rain down on our riverside sites. We have feeders around the sites and some of the birds are very aggressively eating from them. See how many different species you can spot!

Dark Sky Stonefly+6

Tent site · Sleeps 6
Pitch your tent just feet from the river! We have several dark sky sites on the property, and this is one. Come see the stars, meteors, and fireflies! Along with stunning views of Bighorn Sheep Canyon, Twin Bridges Campground has about 1/4-mile access for fishing in gold medal waters and is a bird watchers paradise. Caddis hatch is one of the best times to fish the Arkansas (April and May.) Stonefly gets more sun than the other two riverside sites. Direct sun in the morning until mid-afternoon. Guests may want to bring their own shade June-September. This site comes with a picnic table and gas fire pit; you may rent a 20# propane tank on the extras page. Stonefly is a 4-minute walk from the bath house (there is the best smelling porta potty right near your site) and Wi-Fi extends to all riverside sites. There is a boat ramp in the area that all campers on the property may use. A stonefly is a large aquatic insect that trout love to eat. Stoneflies live on the bottom of cold, clean rivers. Because they are big, they are a high calorie meal for fish. The nymph is the underwater crawling stage, they have 6 legs and 2 tails. Adult stoneflies are large, clumsy flyers that live on land. They often fall onto the water's surface or "dive-bomb" the water to lay eggs.

RV/tent site · Sleeps 4 · Vehicles under 28 ft
Brook Trout is one of our sites with 30 or 50 amp hookups. It is overlooking a small lake and the river. Brook Trout is a short two-minute walk to the bathrooms and showers. WIFI is very strong at this site. There are also several access points to fishing on the river a four minute walk. There is no fishing or swimming in the lake. The lake is too shallow and in the summer the water temperature is too high for the fish to survive a fight. Along with stunning views of Bighorn Sheep Canyon, Twin Bridges Campground is a bird watchers paradise. Migratory birds travel through the campground April-November. Symphonies of bird song rain down on our riverside sites. We have feeders around the sites and some of the birds are very aggressively eating from them. See how many different species you can spot! Brook Trout have olive, blue-gray to black. Bronze to olive sides with red spots tinged light brown. Lower fins are red-orange with white leading edge. The tail is slightly forked. They are members of the char family. An entry to Colorado in the late 1800s, the brook trout feeds on aquatic and terrestrial insects and will rise to a large range on small lures, baits and flies.

Site 15 has 30 amps, the river is just around the bend and accessible from the boat ramp. The site is in our upper campground which is laid out like an RV park. Dragonfly Glamping

Onsite RV/trailer · Sleeps 4 · 4 beds · 1 toilet
Dragonfly is one of our glamping experiences right on the river. This camper sleeps 7-8 with 2 queen beds on the ends, and a dining room table and couch that convert to sleeping areas. Dragonfly is a short four-minute walk to the bathrooms and showers and a sweet smelling porta potty is nearby for those who "can't wait." WIFI signal is very strong at this site. You will be able to wake up and cast your line for fish before breakfast! This site comes with a picnic table and propane fire pit. There is no fishing in the pond. The pond is too shallow and in the summer the water temperature is too high for fish to survive a fight. There is no swimming in the pond. Along with stunning views of Bighorn Sheep Canyon, Twin Bridges Campground is a bird watchers paradise. Migratory birds travel through the campground April-October. Symphonies of bird song rain down on our riverside sites. We have a bunch of feeders around and some of the birds are very aggressive eating from them. See how many different species you can spot! The Dragonfly species are characterized by long bodies with two narrow pairs of intricately veined, membranous wings that, while generally transparent, may have colored markings. Unlike damselflies, the front and rear wing pairs are shaped differently. In addition, dragonflies rest with their wings spread horizontally, rather than held vertically against each other. Dragonflies have a more powerful build and are generally much stronger fliers than damselflies.

This camper has a queen bedroom, and a couch/futon allowing you to sleep 2-3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children. Amenities include HVAC, bathroom, and a retractable awning for maximum shade anytime! We will provide a propane fire pit and propane. The camper will be loaded with fresh water, clean linens/towels, as well as cooking utensils and table settings. We are 4 miles from Cotopaxi if you are coming from Canon City and 8.3 miles from Howard if you are coming from Salida, right off of Highway 50! We have four entrances; you will use the post office entrance, turn right to go behind the post office to the road which leads to the river sites (the road is hidden). You will park in the designated spot near the porta potty (I park there all the time," and use a wagon to take your things to the camper. If you would like to talk in person, there is a doorbell at our house, which is large and will take us some time to get to you. The Damselfly species are similar to dragonflies but are usually smaller and have slimmer bodies. Most species fold the wings along the body when at rest. Their babies are called nymphs and live in the water before emerging as their final aerial form.
