Little Scraggy Camp is located on 95 acres of an historic 160-acre ranch that was homesteaded by our family in the 1890’s, and is on the National Register of Historic Places. This totally off-grid ranch is surrounded by Pike National Forest, yet has easy access from a paved road. We offer several accommodations and glamping sites, as well as sites for moderate sized RVs, travel trailers, truck campers, vans, tents, and hammocks. Additionally, we have sites for small groups (up to 16 people) and large groups (35-200 people). NEW FOR 2025 - two separate, professionally designed 18-hole disc golf courses with PDGA regulation baskets, and a Pro Shop with a free 9-hole putting course, which is great for those who have never played disc golf and want to try it out, (we have free loaner discs). Our Hipcamp guests get a 10% discount on player fees, their children play free. Portable toilets are only a short walk away from sites. We also have several cornhole toss games set up. Friendly, well-mannered dogs are welcome to enjoy YOUR campsite off leash, but please clean up after your dog. We are an ideal basecamp for hiking or biking trail enthusiasts,with direct access to the Little Scraggy Trail and Segment #3 of the Colorado Trail. Little Scraggy Trailhead is 3.5 miles away, with easy access for biking, hiking, or horseback riding on the many other trails of the Buffalo Creek area. You might prefer rock climbing Little Scraggy or fishing the gold-medal waters of the South Platte River canyon below Cheesman Dam and the waters near Deckers. For a day trip, Wellington Lake is only 30 minutes away for no-wake water sports. Many people enjoy kayaking on the North Fork of the South Platte downstream from nearby Buffalo Creek. This is a working ranch where we raise and train Shire draft horses and also ponies. Our particular interest is in carriage driving, and we offer driving experiences upon request.

This tent or hammock campsite sits on a ridge above our glamping sites. Secluded with trees and a rocky hideaway, at the end of a small road. There is only parking for one vehicle, with additional parking for 1 vehicle adjacent to the site. The site can accommodate 1-2 tents and/or hammocks. The site has a wooden spool work table and fire barrel. The portable toilet is just down the hill. Located on an historic ranch property, Outlaw Hideout campsite is behind a locked gate and inside a fenced 45-acre pasture. Trees, rocks, wild flowers, hiking, biking, riding, wildlife viewing and star gazing can all be enjoyed right from your campsite. Walk or ride out the gate at the back of the camp and follow the blue ribbons to access the USFS Little Scraggy Trail or climb the mountain. Quite hours are 9 PM to 9 AM. If you would rather not cook, there is Zoka’s restaurant 10 miles north in Pine, the Bucksnort Saloon one mile north of Pine, or Deckers Corner Cafe 9 miles south, all serve excellent food, beer, and cocktails. This site no longer offers a bell tent, but now has an open area where guests can set up a large tent of their own. The tucked away site is very shaded with large trees. It has a patio table with two chairs, a firepit barrel, and a gas grill (bring your own 20 lb. propane bottle) with side burner. You are welcome to bring your own portable propane fire pit to enjoy. The Colonel’s Camp is located on 45 acres of an historic ranch homestead that is surrounded on all sides by Pike National forest. This is an ideal basecamp for the casual or dedicated trail enthusiast. The ranch itself has several trails and easy trail loops to explore within and just outside of the ranch’s fence lines, with direct access to the 9.5-mile Little Scraggy Trail and Segment #3 of the Colorado Trail. Just 3.5 miles away is the Little Scraggy Trailhead, where you will find easy access for biking, hiking, or horseback riding on the many other trails of the Buffalo Creek area. Additionally, we have an extensive network of hiking and horse trails that avoid conflicts with mountain bikers. You might prefer rock climbing Little Scraggy or fishing the gold-medal waters of the South Platte River canyon below Cheesman Dam and the waters near Deckers. The Hidden Glen is a private RV site nestled in the trees and backs up to a seasonal creek. This back-in site is 35’ long and can accommodate slide-outs on both sides and is easily leveled with some blocking. For your outside enjoyment, it has two patio chairs, a wood spool worktable, and a firepit barrel. Trees, rocks, wildflowers, hiking, and wildlife viewing can all be enjoyed right from your campsite. Situated inside a gated 45-acre mountain pasture, it is part of an historic ranch homestead that is surrounded on all sides by Pike National Forest. A short walk away is a portable toilet, and the camp area has a corn hole toss game. Free-ranging children and off-leash pets are welcome, do please pick up after them. For a casual hike, follow the old road/trail past the glamping sites and a secluded natural spring, to the School Yard gate or walk up the ridge to rockpile hideaways. Just up the trail from Hidden Glen, the School Yard Gate gives access to Pike National Forest and a pleasant trail that leads up through a mountain meadow to the renowned Little Scraggy Trail. Traveling either direction of the 9.5-mile Little Scraggy Trail will take you to segment #3 of the Colorado Trail (for a 12.2-mile loop back to camp) and connects with the extensive trails of the Buffalo Creek Recreation Area, southwest of Denver. Pony Roundup is a large, oval campsite at the heart of Little Scraggy glamping sites and across from Pony Meadow. It can accommodate 1 or 2 small-medium trailers and/or 1-2 tents. Sitting across the small road from Pony Meadow, there are several options for setting up this camp. Drive clockwise around the site and as the name implies you can park small-medium trailers around three sides of the site. You can also pull through and park a trailer in the middle, thereby encircling the well-shaded central area that is ready for your next great camping cookout. The campsite amenities you will find under the trees include a small charcoal grill, a patio table with 4 chairs, a large spool worktable and a barrel fire pit. While your steaks are grilling, relax with a ready-mix camping margarita and snack on chips and salsa, while you enjoy the view to the east where you can see Devil’s Head Mountain against the skyline of the Rampart Range. A portable toilet is just a short walk away, along with a corn hole toss game. Plan on packing out your garbage, this keeps our camp bear-free. This Little Scraggy Camp listing is set up with adjacent corrals for equestrian use, however, all campers are welcome at the site. Mountain Horse Camp has a new layout so tents can be set among the trees and there is still an open area with plenty of room for parking your RV, pickup and trailer, or living quarter horse trailer. Accommodates 2 smaller LQs and/or truck campers with trailers. There is a loop at the end of the road to facilitate turning around. There are 3 metal horse corrals available to rent for $10/ea. (If camping with horses, they must be kept in the provided corrals.) There is a firepit barrel and a spool worktable for your use. Sleep soundly knowing you and your horses are secure behind a locked gate, inside 45 acres of fenced pasture. Non-potable horse water is available from the nearby 270-gallon water tank. A short walk away is a portable toilet and a cornhole toss game. Horses must be stabled inside metal corrals provided. Please provide your own water buckets and we ask that you clean up your horse’s manure and unused hay. Plan on packing out your garbage, this keeps our camp bear-free. Sitting right in front of the majestic rock face of Little Scraggy Peak, Travois LInes is a campsite for small groups up to 12 guests. Specifically set aside, to make it easier for larger parties of families or friends to secure a roomier site to fit their needs. Spacious with easy in/out parking, it can accommodate your camping group’s multiple tents and/or RVs. Easy pull-around or back-in, the large camp area is suitable for a couple of RVs or trailers (depending on length) and/or 1 – 7 tents. Trees, rocks, wild flowers, hiking, wildlife viewing and star gazing can all be enjoyed right from your campsite, inside the 45-acre pasture of this historic ranch property. All campers, whether they are staying overnight or not, must be included in the reservation. Can additional guests be added after the initial booking? Yes, you can modify your trip to add more guests through the Hipcamp app, but you cannot exceed the maximum capacity. Little Scraggy Camp is located on 95 acres of an historic 160-acre ranch that was homesteaded by our family in the 1890’s, and is on the National Register of Historic Places. This totally off-grid ranch is surrounded by Pike National Forest, yet has easy access from a paved road. We offer several accommodations and glamping sites, as well as sites for moderate sized RVs, travel trailers, tents, and hammocks. Additionally, we have sites for small groups (up to 14 people) and large groups (35-200 people). Potable drinking water is available from onsite 270-gallon water tanks. Portable toilets are only a short walk away from sites. Friendly dogs are welcome to enjoy your campsite off leash, but please clean up after your dog. If your pet has any aggressive tendencies, it must be leashed. Recently added is a 4 hole disc golf putting course for you to practice your shots or try your hand, with 4 sets of discs provided. The ranch itself has several trails and easy trail loops to explore within and just outside of the ranch’s fence lines, with direct access to the 9.5-mile Little Scraggy Trail and Segment #3 of the Colorado Trail. Just 3.5 miles away is the Little Scraggy Trailhead, where you will find easy access for biking, hiking, or horseback riding on the many other trails of the Buffalo Creek area. Additionally, we have an extensive network of hiking and horse trails that avoid conflicts with mountain bikers. You might prefer rock climbing Little Scraggy or fishing the gold-medal waters of the South Platte River canyon below Cheesman Dam and the waters near Deckers. For a day trip, Wellington Lake is only 30 minutes away for no-wake water sports. Many people enjoy kayaking on the North Fork of the South Platte downstream from nearby Buffalo Creek. This is a working ranch where we raise and train horses and ponies. Our particular interest is in carriage driving, and we offer driving experiences upon request. Historically, a cowboy cabin was a small cabin camp for cowboys working on the outermost boundaries of a ranch. Also known as a "line shack,", this Cabin is an off-grid, western-themed, cozy, retreat that provides a comfortable glamping experience, where “un-plugging” isn’t optional, it is required. Nestled beside a grove of willows and aspen with a seasonal creek, you will feel a world away. The Cowboy Cabin is only 1-hr from Denver and rests at the foot of Little Scraggy Peak, with direct access to the extensive trails of the Buffalo Creek Recreation Area, via the 12.2-mile Little Scraggy Trail. The Cowboy Cabin has a queen bed and loft twin, to sleep three adults on comfortable beds. It has three windows and a skylight that keep it light and bright inside. You can enjoy the night sky by looking through the skylight above the loft bed. Please bring your own sleeping bags or bedding, including pet beds. Your housetrained pet is welcome, but not on people beds. You can sleep soundly knowing you are secure behind a locked gate, inside 40 acres of fenced pasture. Outside, the Cowboy Cabin site has space for 1 or 2 tents for additional guests. A short walk away is a portable toilet. Plan on packing out your garbage, this keeps our camp bear-free. Just inside the door is a compact kitchen that provides everything you need for simple meal prep. You will find coffees, teas, and cocoa beverages, including cream and sugar. The cabinet has cups for hot and cold drinks including lids for hot beverages. There are paper plates and bowls, along with plastic knives, forks and spoons, and basic spices. Under the countertop you will find basic cooking utensils in the draws and in the cabinet below are skillet, sauce pans, coffee pot, tea kettle, water jug and wash pan. There is a two-burner propane camp stove (use outside only) for heating water and cooking. Bring your own 1-lb. propane bottles. If you would rather not cook, there is Zoka’s restaurant 10 miles north in Pine, the Bucksnort Saloon one mile north of Pine, or Deckers Corner 9 miles south, all serve excellent food, beer and cocktails. Outside you will find a patio table and seating for 4 and a fire pit barrel. Rustle up some burgers, hotdogs or some steaks on the Weber charcoal kettle grill. If you forget the charcoal briquettes and want a special treat, fire up the grill with dry Aspen wood available onsite. The flavor imparted by Aspen smoke is Coloradoans’ answer to Texas mesquite. Great place with beautiful views! The night sky is breathtaking, hiking trails are close by, and the lake isn't terribly far either. The sites are easily accessible with a fair amount of privacy. The only thing to keep in mind is that the scraggy gate site is at a fairly steep incline so keep that in mind. Otherwise a fantastic little camping spot that we will be returning to in the future!

We wanted a last minute booking for our large group and were happy to snag this site. It was definitely spacious enough for us (12 people and 2 dogs in 1 camper and 2 tents), but we were surprised at the incline of the ground across the entire site. For both the camper and the tents, we struggled to find places to sleep that didn't feel like we were sliding in our sleeping bags. (Of course this was an adult issue - the kids were fine!) We were also surprised at how much noise carried from cars on Deckers Rd, even in the wee hours. This site was closest to the road compared to the other sites at this campground, but they are all pretty close together and I think this would be the case at any of the sites. Clean porta-potties up the hill. Extremely responsive and communicative host. Terri even reached out notifying us that an early arrival was an option. Easy to find and access. Incredible proximity to fishing, hiking, and Deckers.

We left after 1 night, despite paying for 2 nights. The site was not level, and looked directly at the highway with lots of car noise, AND there was a music festival on the property both nights blasting music. We likely could have overlooked any 1 of those things, but all 3 together made for an unpleasant experience. We were at the Hidden Spring site. We went down the road to Kelsey campground which was a third of the cost, was tucked in the trees and had a picnic table. I do not recommend this overpriced primitive camping right next to the highway.

It was a great stay, beautiful spot for sure. We went up Labor Day weekend and stayed a couple nights. Quite a bit of partying going on within earshot, but I guess that happens on holiday weekends. We hit up Wellington Lake which is fairly close, which you do not want to miss… it’s an amazing place to SUP or Kayak. The road there is dirt and a couple spots had some deep ruts but easy enough to navigate. We had our pup with us and everyone was dog friendly and pretty chill. All and all it is a cool little spot, we really enjoyed our time there.

Juniper Tree was a great little site--as others have mentioned the site is pretty sloped. We camped in a Ram Promaster van. The parking area is fairly flat, but we do regret not bringing leveling blocks. The site and the property are gorgeous. The porta potties are very clean as were the campsites! I'd LOVE a site map--we did some walking/exploring and found our way to the Glamping area and to the Group site/disc golf site, but it was kind of by guesswork and the rough map by the entrance. It would also be fun to know how many sites there really are and how many people each is for! We kind of kicked ourselves for not doing some more research before getting there--as others have said, the cell phone service isn't great. During our first night the fire ban was still in effect. The second day we did receive a message that fires were ok, however, since it was on the hipcamp app it took forever to access--maybe an option in the future for us to provide a cell phone number to receive messages? Overall it was a fabulous trip--we really enjoyed what you have to offer and the price was great--it was wonderful to know we had an easily accessible site waiting for us on a Friday afternoon after work! We are already planning out next visit!

When we arrived as it had not been location we had been to before we drove around looking at all the sites. I found a site that was different than the one we'd originally selected but Sarah was really accommodating and let us move to the other side. The property here borders National Park and we were able directly hike from her property into the National Park although you could hike around her property for hours as well and it's very beautiful.
