Five minutes from the beach, Elkhorn Ranch is home to goats, sheep, wild chickens followed by their baby chicks, and a couple of cows, dogs, and sheep. In addition to the animals there is a greenhouse and an acre of pumpkins, corn, and beans. A small fruit orchard borders the chicken coop. Anybody who enjoys small farm life and activity will find this place enchanting. Norris and Roberta are incredible hosts and inclusive to any guests that want to participate in farm life. Close to restaurants and the cute harbor town of Moss Landing, 30 minutes from Carmel and Santa Cruz, Elkhorn Ranch can be a place to relax or a gateway to explore Big Sur and all the amazing hidden gems of the Central California Coast.Pros - Lovely community. Great for kids. Lively when wanted, chill when wanted. Magical Oak forest. Open field for playing. Close to everything. Note - There is a large power station at Moss Landing, about five miles away. The high tension wires border the property. Some people think they are ugly. I think they are kind of cool. If you look down the line of sight, they lead to the power station and you can see all the lined radiating from the power station to serve power to the people of Monterey County.Check in and check out are flexible. However we ask that you are checked in by 7 pm as we are a working farm. Due to camping in the oak grove there are no camp fires at the campsites. However there is a fire pit with wood available in the common area to enjoy or cook on.

Camp with Goats!
Loved Camping with Goats!
Easy, simple, low key accommodations with goats. Roberta was friendly and good at communicating how to get there and meet me and show me where to camp. Got a nice spot with a view over Elkhorn Slough. Nothing fancy here, but very quaint. I especially liked the lights at night that danced on the trees and even up on the fields uphill from the campsite. Convenient access to Elkhorn Slough Preserve.

Roberta and Norris were very kind and helpful, even though I booked last minute and only stayed for maybe 12 hours. The site was safe, welcoming, and had all the basics you might need.

Camp with Goats!
Norris and Roberta’s land was the perfect spot for us to stop on our journey. Roberta and Norris were super welcoming and flexible with us getting in right at their checkin time. They showed us exactly where we could set up our tent, where the outhouse was, and everything was clean. Roberta even let us meet the goats and gave us some apples for our trip. And the dogs are awesome, they do a great job protecting all the goats at night and were super friendly and wanted tons of pets. Would definitely stay again. Thank you both so much!

Camping with goats!
What a lovely stay at Norris and Roberta’s farm. They both went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable, the bathroom provided was spotless clean, and the animals at the farm are adorable. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful weekend in the country and we’ll will be going back.
