Villa Macala

Villa Macala and our host David were wonderful! He was present and attentive, yet at the same time fully gave us our space -- including allowing us to check out later than the published check-out time. "Stay as long as you'd like," were his words. The grounds were beautiful and fun to explore, and we loved our shady, oak tree campsite, which we endearingly called the Hobbit House, due to the way it made you feel walking down into the grove of trees and all the little nooks and crannies that were there for us to set up in. We loved the open views of the mountains from our site, and although we chose to leave and explore town one afternoon, we could have easily and happily stayed right there on the property the whole time. The clean bathrooms with hot water were a huge plus. We would definitely recommend Villa Macala to anyone looking for a special, beautiful spot to camp off the beaten path. 10 out of 10!

Beautiful Hidden Gem Campground!

We had such an amazing trip at Macala! My girlfriend and I came here for two nights to celebrate our birthdays and get away from the city life and it was just so lovely. The host/employees that we interacted with (David, Bobby, Amy, and the cute dog Leo) were all so welcoming and kind. We could really tell how much thought and love was put into the development and planning of the farm and the campsites. The campsite we stayed at (Oak Trees, site 4) was sooo cozy and cute. It felt secluded from the rest of the property and we felt like we owned the place! We ordered everything they had on their menu (olive oil, jams, herbs, tea) and it was all so fresh and delicious. I highly recommend the olive oil and Guava Jam especially, so tasty! Also highly recommend booking a tour of the property with David, he took us around and showed us how everything operates on the farm at sunset and it was so special and beautiful. We cannot wait to return, it seriously might be the best campsite we’ve ever been to! There were also super clean/nice showers and bathrooms available throughout the site. This place is such a hidden gem, highly highly recommend. Next time we’ll have to plan an olive oil tasting, we missed out this time around, but we’ll be back soon! Lovely Camping Spot

We spent 6 nights camping at the Bee Box at Villa Macala. It was incredible! The property was vast and everywhere you looked there was something else to see. Obviously a lot of heart and soul went into the creation of this beautiful place. Our site had a nice view with a sturdy picnic table, benches and a fireplace. There was a pergola with a solid cover which made even the hottest days very bearable. The hospitality was off the charts too! It was extremely hot the first 2 days we were there and ranch manager David brought us bags of ice on 2 separate occasions - unsolicited! We didn’t use the outhouse shower/restrooms because we were self contained, but they were spotless and even stocked with toiletries! We also happened to be present during one of their market weekends and were able to score some great olive oil (nice and peppery). I will be back and will tell our friends. Many thanks to David, Rich and Nina for a very memorable week!

I loved staying at campsite 1 here with friends! It’s a great spot for a group camping trip. There’s plenty of space for cooking, lounging and exploring. The ranch is a working ranch and we were able to stop by the market they were hosting on the property. The property is so big, we were still able to have a private campground to ourselves. The night time is so peaceful with the sounds of animals (mostly lizards, owls, and rabbits) and this is the perfect spot for star gazing. David, the ranch manager, was so accommodating to our group and we communicated seamlessly throughout our stay. Overall the trip felt so safe and serene! Thanks again to Nina for setting us up before the trip. We loved our stay and will definitely return!

Dream camping in California

I cannot say enough good things about this camping experience! If you want to find a beautiful place to enjoy nature while having the most amazing hosts ever, then camp here! Enjoy LOTS of space to relax and hike around this amazing property. Definitely tour the orchard! Buy their amazing products, and hear the story of this family’s organic farm. This site was perfect for our family and friends with children from age 6 to 18 years old. It was immaculate. The bathroom made this mama so thankful after having some grubby happy campers that I could clean up before tucking in. The well water was superb. If you aren’t convinced yet, I don’t know what else to say! We are 100 percent coming back to camp here again and visit our newly made friends. Fall in love with California again at Villa Macala!

The eight of us had a fun time at the campsite and it was a great place to explore. Not only a spacious campsite, the bathroom and the shower is also a huge plus. 150 yards of offroad climbing to get to the campsite required some commitment for an 8 person van but it was an added fun.

This campsite is truly incredible. It has a level place to set up, a beautiful landscape, clean water, warm showers. The hosts are wonderful. We will come back many times. The olive oil from the farm is also spectacular. If you have a sprinter van like we do, be careful with the edelberry spot. It's a very narrow road road surrounded by boulders.

Great local getaway spot

Great campsite with fantastic views of the local mountains. The full hookup site we had was extremely nice, new, well setup with a clean picnic table and fire pit. The hilly area was fun to hike around and would be a terrific place for kids to run around and play. Weather was perfect with a nice breeze and clear sky’s. I would highly recommend this campground to anyone looking to get away from the city and spend time relaxing with family and friends.

A True Hidden Gem

We had a wonderful time! The land was beautiful with views of the mountains. The campsite was beautiful, clean, spacious and had a clean bathroom with a HOT Shower. Awesome! We were only 2 people and we car camped but the site (#1 Elderberry Park) is a group site. What is cool is that there are little areas where tents could be pitched that each had a little privacy. We will definitely come back with some friends. There is hiking and a lot to explore. The icing on the cake were the folks at the farm. From David, who met us when we arrived and took us to our campsite and also gave us a tour of the land. To Rich who we met out in the olive groves harvesting olives. To Genine who prepared a wonderful tasting of the EVOO olive oils they produce and her Jelly/Jams. You could really tell that they had a love of the land and wanted to share it. Needless to say, we drove off happy (and some olive oils and jams). Until next time….

Elderberry Park is lovely

We (11 people, 3 big tents) loved the campground! Beautiful views and rather quiet. Some owls, neighborhood dogs, and coyotes but nothing truly disturbing. The grounds slope a little, so make sure that you put up the tent so that your head can be at the highest point. Rich, our host, was great and was waiting for us to make sure that we would find the campground. Lovely set up and great bathroom. Rich and his ranch hand David gave us a tour of the grounds, explaining things about their working orchard. Thank you so much for all the personal attention!

Nice place to camp

We stayed at Macala Orchards in the Elderberry campground and had a fantastic experience. The site was clean, spacious, and well-maintained—perfect for our group of nine, with plenty of room to spread out comfortably. The newly built shower, sink, and toilet outhouse were spotless and thoughtfully designed, and the ground well faucet was a nice touch for easy access to water. We were warmly greeted by David, who was an excellent host. He answered all our questions, both in person and via text, and made sure we were well taken care of throughout our stay. The location strikes a great balance: it’s secluded enough to feel like a true getaway, yet only about 15 minutes from supermarkets and restaurants. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a peaceful, private campground with great amenities and a welcoming host!

Peaceful, Private, Perfect

We absolutely loved this place—especially Site 4! It felt more private than the others, with plenty of shade from the giant trees and a refreshing breeze coming through the canyon, which made it perfect for summer. Our site had two benches, two fire pits, and even a charming little sitting area on the other side with a lovely view—great for eating or painting! Everything about our stay was wonderful. The location is ideal—just 20 minutes from Temecula and 10 minutes from Hemet. The host, David, was amazing! He gave us a little tour on our second day, which made us appreciate the place even more. The property is full of beautiful pomegranate and olive trees—it’s so natural and peaceful. The bathroom was a big bonus: clean, spacious, and very convenient to have on-site. We truly had a fantastic experience and would absolutely come back!

Heaven in Sage, CA!

It was beautiful on Nina’s land. We were looking for an “off the beaten path” place to spend the weekend and had the best weekend ever! David, the host, was great and most accommodating. He gave us a tour and talked about the property like the heaven it was! It was peaceful and quiet, lots of trails to hike and lots of birds, flora and fauna to see! We will definitely be back, especially to see the olives being harvested and made into olive oil! We purchased some to try! 5 star weekend!

Beautiful Gem!

The camp host David was so welcoming and made it a wonderful experience! The camp site is so much more beautiful in person than the pics can even express. It’s easy access to your car and bathroom, but you feel so secluded in your own little world in this hidden gem among the trees. Gorgeous views from the site and more if you want to explore on a few trails. There’s an outlet and fresh drinking water at the site so you’re not going without. The tent pad was just big enough for my 5-person tent, you couldn’t fit any bigger. Two picnic tables under the trees for shade, a cooking fire stove then a fire pit for s’mores and hotdogs. I can’t wait to go back, a lovely place!

The hip camp at Macala Orchard was more than we could have imagined. The staff was amazingly hospitable, from the tour upon arrival, to the attention to detail for our accommodations, we were delighted. Our family enjoyed the views, the knowledge gained about the orchard/vineyard from David, the kindnesses extended to us and getting to purchase the award winning olive oil and jam, bringing a piece of it back home with us. The family was easy to work with and we would do it again in a heartbeat!

I would highly recommend camping here! Our spot (oak grove) was very private and secluded and had a beautiful view of the mountains. The hosts are a down to earth, kind, and genuine couple who will welcome you warmly and make sure you have everything you need. They have several bath houses, each with a toilet, shower, sink, soap, shampoo, bee sting and first aid kits, literally anything you could need. I would highly recommend doing a tasting and trying their olive oil products as well as their jams and jellies, you won’t regret the experience. I will absolutely be returning here soon with friends, it was an awesome experience that was made even better by the most amazing hosts. They are a hardworking couple who are proud of what they have accomplished and it is so interesting to hear about their land, their products, and their family.

Perfect Nature Retreat!

We just returned from the most wonderful weekend celebrating our now 7-year-old son's birthday at Villa Macala! The property is so peaceful and beautiful -- boulders, olive and pomegranate orchards, wildflowers (in late April), hummingbirds, blue birds, etc. Our hosts were so friendly, inviting, and helpful, and we loved their pomegranate juice, fruit jams, and tea. The brand new bathhouse, just a moment up the path from our site, was clean and full of soaps and other supplies. We'll be back, for sure, and highly recommend the property (Site 1 - Elderberry Park) in particular for those who want to tent camp.
