OUR STORY
Our farm story began in 2018, when on a whim and a prayer we purchased a rundown home and land. After years of acquiring many blisters, animals, plants and weird suntans, we eventually created the home and farm of our dreams. Our emphasis in the beginning of this journey was to create a space in which our children (along with ourselves) learned the value of producing our own food, fiber, meat and eggs. We challenged ourselves to learn sustainable and organic farming practices, and the emphasis soon changed to how can we share this journey and all that we have learned with more than just our children.
So…..here we are, sharing our hard work and ambition with you. For now, this ambition is in the form of HomeMade Jams, Jellies, Teas, Seasonings and Confections that is procured from our own organically grown gardens and trees along with HandMade fiber creations from our small Alpaca herd. I would like to be able to say that we grew everything that goes into our ingredients, but we are not that good at everything yet! So to keep in the spirit of ethical sustainability along with ensuring a high quality and great tasting product, we purchase ingredients from local organic farmers and shelf products that not only have the USDA Organic seal, but are non-GMO, ethically harvested and in some cases certified Kosher.
One day we hope to meet you and share our story with you by introducing you to the fruit trees my father grew from seed and let you feel the soft fiber of our eclectic herd of misfit Alpacas while you watch the glorious Southern California sunset touch the hot desert horizon we call home.

Cold Creek is a unique 112-acre property in the San Bernardino National Forest. Because of its location in a 3,200 foot elevation, it's colder than the Southern California deserts and warmer than the cold mountains above us. The campsites are both cozy enough for 2 or spacious enough for large groups and can easily accommodate a mix of RVs, camper vans and tents.
From June to October the 100+ area open meadow is filled with horses grazing and galloping about (please don't pet or feed!) A four-seasons destination, the Ranch has year-round experiences with warm summers and snowy winters. An excellent basecamp, within close proximity to the lake, ski slopes, Pinnacles, hiking/biking and off-roading trails.
After a day filled with adventure or ultimate relaxation, be sure to enjoy the breath-taking sunsets over the meadow.
The evenings blanket guests with a sea of stars. Toast up some s’mores and warm up some hot-coco over a beautiful, crackling campfire. Remember the s’mores and always follow the “Leave No Trace” principles. There are large trash bins by the entrance.

Please note:
OHV’s are allowed. They count as one of the allowed vehicles per campsite and must adhere to the speed limit (10mph) and remain on established camp roads while on the property. They may not be driven from 8pm to 8am. It is strictly forbidden to ride your vehicles through the forest, meadow or off any established roads on or off property. Please research which of the surrounding forestry roads allow for your vehicle type to be driven on. Campsites on the west side of the meadow (F, G & H sites) are partially accessed by a forestry road that does not allow dirt bikes.
Horses: The horses which may be roaming the meadow during your stay are not property of Holcomb Valley Ranch. When horses are present, guests and their pets are prohibited from entering the meadow. Please do not approach, interact, feed or touch the horses. This is for your safety and the safety of the horses. Do, however, take lots of photos! They make a perfect backdrop:)

Anson and I continue to build everything ourselves with the help of our friends and family every now and again. Our process is that we source as much lumber using the dead Eucalyptus trees we have here on the 36 acre property and we are constantly trying to come up with innovative ways to use recycled and donated materials in the venue. FIRES: No fires are to be lit by the campers without verbal consent from property owner and instruction. SEE property owner/camp host upon arrival about what you may use on the property. He will provide instructions.
TASTINGS: Macala Orchards Olive Oil, Various Jellies and Jams Pomegranate Juice all made from what we grow are available for tasting upon request. Please let us know prior to arrival if you are interested in a scheduled tasting during your stay! We can provide a tasting if we have the proper staff during your visit. OUR STORY
Our farm story began in 2018, when on a whim and a prayer we purchased a rundown home and land. After years of acquiring many blisters, animals, plants and weird suntans, we eventually created the home and farm of our dreams. Our emphasis in the beginning of this journey was to create a space in which our children (along with ourselves) learned the value of producing our own food, fiber, meat and eggs. So…..here we are, sharing our hard work and ambition with you. For now, this ambition is in the form of HomeMade Jams, Jellies, Teas, Seasonings and Confections that is procured from our own organically grown gardens and trees along with HandMade fiber creations from our small Alpaca herd. I would like to be able to say that we grew everything that goes into our ingredients, but we are not that good at everything yet! So to keep in the spirit of ethical sustainability along with ensuring a high quality and great tasting product, we purchase ingredients from local organic farmers and shelf products that not only have the USDA Organic seal, but are non-GMO, ethically harvested and in some cases certified Kosher.
One day we hope to meet you and share our story with you by introducing you to the fruit trees my father grew from seed and let you feel the soft fiber of our eclectic herd of misfit Alpacas while you watch the glorious Southern California sunset touch the hot desert horizon we call home.

Cold Creek is a unique 112-acre property in the San Bernardino National Forest. From June to October the 100+ area open meadow is filled with horses grazing and galloping about (please don't pet or feed!) A four-seasons destination, the Ranch has year-round experiences with warm summers and snowy winters. An excellent basecamp, within close proximity to the lake, ski slopes, Pinnacles, hiking/biking and off-roading trails.
After a day filled with adventure or ultimate relaxation, be sure to enjoy the breath-taking sunsets over the meadow.
The evenings blanket guests with a sea of stars. Toast up some s’mores and warm up some hot-coco over a beautiful, crackling campfire. Remember the s’mores and always follow the “Leave No Trace” principles. There are large trash bins by the entrance.

OHV’s are allowed. They count as one of the allowed vehicles per campsite and must adhere to the speed limit (10mph) and remain on established camp roads while on the property. They may not be driven from 8pm to 8am. It is strictly forbidden to ride your vehicles through the forest, meadow or off any established roads on or off property. Please research which of the surrounding forestry roads allow for your vehicle type to be driven on. Campsites on the west side of the meadow (F, G & H sites) are partially accessed by a forestry road that does not allow dirt bikes.
Horses: The horses which may be roaming the meadow during your stay are not property of Holcomb Valley Ranch. When horses are present, guests and their pets are prohibited from entering the meadow. Please do not approach, interact, feed or touch the horses. This is for your safety and the safety of the horses. Do, however, take lots of photos! They make a perfect backdrop:)

Villa Macala and our host David were wonderful! He was present and attentive, yet at the same time fully gave us our space -- including allowing us to check out later than the published check-out time. "Stay as long as you'd like," were his words. The grounds were beautiful and fun to explore, and we loved our shady, oak tree campsite, which we endearingly called the Hobbit House, due to the way it made you feel walking down into the grove of trees and all the little nooks and crannies that were there for us to set up in. We loved the open views of the mountains from our site, and although we chose to leave and explore town one afternoon, we could have easily and happily stayed right there on the property the whole time. The clean bathrooms with hot water were a huge plus. We would definitely recommend Villa Macala to anyone looking for a special, beautiful spot to camp off the beaten path. 10 out of 10!

I absolutely loved camping here. The land was beautiful and our scenic and secluded camping spot had everything we needed and more. You could not convince me that our host, David, was not an angel. At the drop of a hat he was more than willing to help with everything. We tried the pomegranate jelly and it was delicious!

My family and I really enjoyed our time at the Morningwood :) The host was great and the location was very close to town. The spot we stayed at definitely requires a 4wd vehicle but there are other spots that were much more accessible. We were able to hike around the property which is very large and we definitely enjoyed the bird filled forest vibe.

We had such an amazing trip at Macala! My girlfriend and I came here for two nights to celebrate our birthdays and get away from the city life and it was just so lovely. The host/employees that we interacted with (David, Bobby, Amy, and the cute dog Leo) were all so welcoming and kind. We could really tell how much thought and love was put into the development and planning of the farm and the campsites. The campsite we stayed at (Oak Trees, site 4) was sooo cozy and cute. It felt secluded from the rest of the property and we felt like we owned the place! We ordered everything they had on their menu (olive oil, jams, herbs, tea) and it was all so fresh and delicious. I highly recommend the olive oil and Guava Jam especially, so tasty! Also highly recommend booking a tour of the property with David, he took us around and showed us how everything operates on the farm at sunset and it was so special and beautiful. We cannot wait to return, it seriously might be the best campsite we’ve ever been to! There were also super clean/nice showers and bathrooms available throughout the site. This place is such a hidden gem, highly highly recommend. Next time we’ll have to plan an olive oil tasting, we missed out this time around, but we’ll be back soon! We spent 6 nights camping at the Bee Box at Villa Macala. It was incredible! The property was vast and everywhere you looked there was something else to see. Obviously a lot of heart and soul went into the creation of this beautiful place. Our site had a nice view with a sturdy picnic table, benches and a fireplace. There was a pergola with a solid cover which made even the hottest days very bearable.
The hospitality was off the charts too! It was extremely hot the first 2 days we were there and ranch manager David brought us bags of ice on 2 separate occasions - unsolicited! We didn’t use the outhouse shower/restrooms because we were self contained, but they were spotless and even stocked with toiletries! We also happened to be present during one of their market weekends and were able to score some great olive oil (nice and peppery).
I will be back and will tell our friends. Many thanks to David, Rich and Nina for a very memorable week!

I loved staying at campsite 1 here with friends! It’s a great spot for a group camping trip. There’s plenty of space for cooking, lounging and exploring. The ranch is a working ranch and we were able to stop by the market they were hosting on the property. The property is so big, we were still able to have a private campground to ourselves. The night time is so peaceful with the sounds of animals (mostly lizards, owls, and rabbits) and this is the perfect spot for star gazing. David, the ranch manager, was so accommodating to our group and we communicated seamlessly throughout our stay. Overall the trip felt so safe and serene! Thanks again to Nina for setting us up before the trip. We loved our stay and will definitely return!

Our stay at this cabin in Green Valley Lake was everything we needed and more. It was the perfect escape from the city.
The cabin itself was incredibly spacious and well maintained. With three floors and four outdoor decks, there was no shortage of places to unwind and take in the peaceful forest views.

I cannot say enough good things about this camping experience! If you want to find a beautiful place to enjoy nature while having the most amazing hosts ever, then camp here! Enjoy LOTS of space to relax and hike around this amazing property. Definitely tour the orchard! Buy their amazing products, and hear the story of this family’s organic farm. This site was perfect for our family and friends with children from age 6 to 18 years old. It was immaculate. The bathroom made this mama so thankful after having some grubby happy campers that I could clean up before tucking in. The well water was superb. If you aren’t convinced yet, I don’t know what else to say! We are 100 percent coming back to camp here again and visit our newly made friends. Fall in love with California again at Villa Macala!

We had a great stay here and would definitely come back.
We booked the container site, which leans more toward glamping than traditional camping - having a real structure and a bed made it super comfortable while still feeling like a getaway. The property itself is really nice, with an outhouse within easy walking distance and a sink with running water, which was a big plus.
The 4WD access is short but definitely steep, so just be prepared for that. Once you’re up there, it’s worth it. We enjoyed exploring some small hikes around the property and also spent a good amount of time in town, which is just a quick drive away.
The only downside is that the site sits fairly close to the road, so you do get some street noise. It wasn’t a dealbreaker for us, but something to be aware of if you’re looking for total silence.
The owner was great - very friendly, responsive, and even met us on arrival to give a quick tour, which we appreciated.
Overall, a really solid spot for a comfortable, easy Idyllwild getaway.

We reserve Jasen Peak, we did not stay because our car is big and we did not fit it was in the edge of the cliff kind off and very uneven campsite, needs more care

Great location near Mt Rubidoux. Property signage could be improved indicating where the camp is as it’s a large property. Level sites and an A+ bathroom facility. Host was prompt in answering questions.

This campground is Beautiful! Trees, flowers,
Green grass. So calming it was the perfect place to unwind and relax.
Listened to good music drinking cold adult beverages, & cooking bomb asada taco.
We went during the week, two days one night we had the whole campsite to ourselves. It was the first time in my life for over 24 hours. My husband was the only person I ever saw.
One of the most relaxing camping trips I’ve ever had.

We had such a beautiful weekend at this campground! The setting is truly centered in nature, with little to no outside noise, exactly what we were looking for in a peaceful getaway. Even when a few campers started getting a bit loud, the host quickly stepped in and kindly asked them to quiet down, which we really appreciated. The sunset and sunrise and other views were absolutely stunning. Falling asleep and waking up to the sounds of birds and nature was exactly what we needed to reset and recharge.
We stayed at the Whispering Winds site, which was a great spot. The restroom was conveniently located and not too far of a walk for us.
We would 100% recommend this place and will definitely be returning!
