Splitrock Farm and Retreat started in January 2021 after a global search of a place to set roots, live off the land, and create an amazing place for recreation, relaxation, and rejuvenation.
Splitrock was part of a 160-acre avocado farm that prospered from 1970 to 2017, generating over 1million pounds of avocados per year until the previous owners switched off the water in 2017. Ben purchased 101 acres in 2021 with plans to harvest the dead avocado trees for firewood and replant with organic, sustainable crops such as grapes, citrus trees, and flowers.
Splitrock's attraction comes from its unique groves, magnificent granite boulders, and sweeping vistas. Mixed within the avocado groves are several ancient groves and solitary trees that include 150+ foot tall pines, hundreds of old oaks, and soaring palms. Freckled throughout the hillsides are thousands of humongous granite boulders, offering a prehistoric feel to the landscape. Above all, Splitrock offers unrivaled views. Over 40 miles of coastline includes views to Point Loma, the Carlsbad power station, and the Pendleton Hospital. To the northeast are views of near 11K foot snowy peaks of San Jacinto and San Gorgonio, with rolling hills of De Luz and Fallbrook in the foreground.

Splitrock Farm and Retreat started in January 2021 after a global search of a place to set roots, live off the land, and create an amazing place for recreation, relaxation, and rejuvenation.
Splitrock was part of a 160-acre avocado farm that prospered from 1970 to 2017, generating over 1million pounds of avocados per year until the previous owners switched off the water in 2017. Ben purchased 101 acres in 2021 with plans to harvest the dead avocado trees for firewood and replant with organic, sustainable crops such as grapes, citrus trees, and flowers.
Splitrock's attraction comes from its unique groves, magnificent granite boulders, and sweeping vistas. Mixed within the avocado groves are several ancient groves and solitary trees that include 150+ foot tall pines, hundreds of old oaks, and soaring palms. Freckled throughout the hillsides are thousands of humongous granite boulders, offering a prehistoric feel to the landscape. Above all, Splitrock offers unrivaled views. Over 40 miles of coastline includes views to Point Loma, the Carlsbad power station, and the Pendleton Hospital. To the northeast are views of near 11K foot snowy peaks of San Jacinto and San Gorgonio, with rolling hills of De Luz and Fallbrook in the foreground.

This 1968 Shasta Camper, located in a small garden within an urban neighborhood, sleeps up to four people, with additional space to set up tents if desired. It has a few amenities—some more rustic than others—including AC, refrigerator and freezer, stovetop (oven does not work), sinks, shower, internet, and coffee maker.
Located just ten minutes from the Port of Long Beach and the Port of San Pedro, it’s a great launch point for cruise-goers. With swimming beaches only twenty minutes away, it’s an ideal option for a low-cost vacation.
Help yourself to the freshest fruits, vegetables, and legumes from the garden, and watch the bees, butterflies, and grasshoppers happily pollinate, creating opportunities for new growth.
The property is securely locked, and the entrance is video-monitored for your safety (and ours).
It’s important to note that the camper (not a glamper) is vintage, and the convenience of the urban neighborhood can sometimes come with a variety of neighborhood sounds—though it can also be extremely quiet at times.
Due to the desert climate, ants may accompany the pollinators and enter the camper if food or beverages are left out. The garden is shared with our home, so some privacy may be compromised when we tend to it.
Street parking only. Pay attention to posted restriction signs and do not park in business or residential lots. The driveway can be made available at a cost of $10 per night (keep in mind the driveway is located at the front of the property and is a short walk away from the entrance to the camper).
Yard is fenced-in completely but if your pet is an escape artist there are some very small openings to be aware of when letting them off-leash.

The White Lodge is a private home owned by the creator of Hicksville Trailer Palace and Hicksville Pines Bud and Breakfast. Although Morgan(the owner) has retired, he's made his property to feel as if you're in the middle of the woods complete with swimming hole, fire pit, outdoor kitchen, sauna and more!
Our trailer and cave shower entrance are on the smaller size and may not be comfortable for larger bodied individuals.
We are closed May-August because the trailer has no A/C and we're too busy with our Swimply pool business. You can book it only as an add-on for pool guests during that time. More pool info on our website whitelodgepool.com

Camp area is behind 110 year old craftsman style home formerly one of the first orange growers in this area.
Country like setting with mature trees that are over 100 foot tall and over 100 years old mini or fruit trees. Environmental friendly gardening which includes no pesticides, not manicured natural look preserving nature. we have mini ground squirrels, cottontail bunny rabbits, red tailed hawk, owls and hundreds of birds beautiful. Mountain biking trails regular bike trails lots of walking paths hiking in the nearby foothills.
On the other side of Mountain View, which we were right off of is a great Italian restaurant called Sorrentino’s. Everything is delicious there!

My husband and I had a great stay at this property. It was easy to find our tent, the bathrooms were clean, the owner responds quickly to questions, and the views are beautiful!! Like others have mentioned the only downer were the loud roosters, however it wouldn’t be a dealbreaker. I’d just come prepared with ear plugs. It’s still worth staying and enjoying. I highly recommend!

We booked this spot mainly for its proximity to an event we were attending, but it ended up being such a pleasant surprise. The property is beautiful, peaceful, and clearly well cared for. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and kind, which made our stay feel even more comfortable. Our only regret is that we didn’t have more time to stay and fully explore everything the property has to offer. We would absolutely come back and highly recommend it to others!

Zen ranch was pretty dreamy. Nice night sky’s, quiet, peaceful, and the land is lovey. I stayed in my van so it was a nice middle ground between camping and glamping. The outdoor shower was super fun (I love outdoor showers in general). Also Mary is super sweet! A gracious host that has created a cozy vibe. I’ll definitely be back.

This campsite was great! Jurassic Jungle is tucked down in Splitrock Valley. It’s a large site area and very private. We saw goats roaming, hiked the 5K with navigational assistance from the interactive map, and watched the sunset from the observation deck. We had a great weekend, highly recommend camping here!

This place is the best spot I've encountered! I stayed at the communal spot and Hilltop Hideout. I love the views and seclusion of the hideout but also the wide open areas of the communal grounds. It's down to preference.

So my wife and I were needing a weekend away, and we found it here. The view we had from our camp spot was beautiful. At night, we got to look down into the city and see all the light sparkling. During the day, we got to see some wildlife as well. This spot was worth it, but I recommend getting here before dark; this location can be hard to see at night.

This property is absolutely gorgeous. The pond is really nice with turtles and ducks swimming in it. The hammock was super relaxing. Lacy and Ben were awesome hosts. The parking is a little tricky and Ben was super helpful. I’m pretty new to my trailer, so I would definitely make sure you have help backing in, unless you know what you’re doing.

About the Host: Mary is a very conscientious host. She cares about her Hipcamper's experience. She checked in once a day but then gave you your space.
About the property: Pictures do not do it justice. This is a self-contained property (fully fenced area that feels separate from the rest of her property) that has everything you need for a great camp trip. Here is a list of things this property offers.
1. There is an outdoor shower with hot water.
2. Multiple electrical outlets.
3. A nice 3-section bathroom area with a composting toilet, a sink with running water, and a private changing area.
3. A large open patio with a sail shade overhead. The patio has a fire place, chairs, and a covered countertop bar with a working fridge and other appliances available for use.
4. Two cleared areas (lanes) for a couple of cars, or a trailer, or multiple tents.
5. Finally she has an open area just outside the fence that accommodates larger RV's (i.e. 5th wheel trailer). It's not ready just yet, but is in phase 2 of her plans for this Hipcamp.
All in all, I had a great experience at Mary's property. If you have a small group and would like to have a weekend getaway with all the essentials at your fingertips, this is the spot. And the best thing is the price. For everything you get, it is a totally reasonable price. I can't say enough good things about this Hipcamp. I know this sounds like a commercial for this place, but it really is a great spot for the price. See for yourself.
