Splitrock Farm and Retreat started in January 2021 after a global search of a place to set roots, live off the land, and create an amazing place for recreation, relaxation, and rejuvenation.
Splitrock was part of a 160-acre avocado farm that prospered from 1970 to 2017, generating over 1million pounds of avocados per year until the previous owners switched off the water in 2017. Ben purchased 101 acres in 2021 with plans to harvest the dead avocado trees for firewood and replant with organic, sustainable crops such as grapes, citrus trees, and flowers.
Splitrock's attraction comes from its unique groves, magnificent granite boulders, and sweeping vistas. Mixed within the avocado groves are several ancient groves and solitary trees that include 150+ foot tall pines, hundreds of old oaks, and soaring palms. Freckled throughout the hillsides are thousands of humongous granite boulders, offering a prehistoric feel to the landscape. Above all, Splitrock offers unrivaled views. Over 40 miles of coastline includes views to Point Loma, the Carlsbad power station, and the Pendleton Hospital. To the northeast are views of near 11K foot snowy peaks of San Jacinto and San Gorgonio, with rolling hills of De Luz and Fallbrook in the foreground.

Site 2 — Avocado Vista Campsite: the intimate one. Smaller groups, Several tent pads, a covered viewing deck, and views of the city and grove.
Site 2 -- Cozy Grove Retreat: Same site as Avocado Vista but with pre set up Inflatable 10x10 spacious tent, Inflatable queen bed and sofa. Tent lights all pre set up for you.
Add-ons if you want them: s'mores kits, propane fire pits, camping essentials, farm baskets from the grove, early arrival or late checkout.
This is a real working farm, not a backdrop. Dark skies, roosters at dawn, grove views — and your stay helps fund the farm animal sanctuary on the property (rescued dogs, cats, ducks, geese, chickens, pigs, and goats you may get to meet).
While you're here: Temecula wine country is ~15–20 minutes south — tasting rooms, Old Town Temecula, and Pechanga. Hiking at the Santa Rosa Plateau is close by, Glen Ivy Hot Springs is about half an hour, and Lake Elsinore (skydiving, the lake, minor-league baseball) is 20 minutes north.

Our mission is help enrich the culture of Perris, CA by providing a unique venue that takes you away from the hustle and bustle and takes you to a wonderland of nature surrounded by rocks and eucalyptus trees.
Anson and I continue to build everything ourselves with the help of our friends and family every now and again. Our process is that we source as much lumber using the dead Eucalyptus trees we have here on the 36 acre property and we are constantly trying to come up with innovative ways to use recycled and donated materials in the venue. During the pandemic, we turned our venue into a campground so we could open up the venue to people who needed to get out into nature. We are now open for daily camping and private events. It’s important to note that the camper (not a glamper) is vintage, and the convenience of the urban neighborhood can sometimes come with a variety of neighborhood sounds—though it can also be extremely quiet at times.
Due to the desert climate, ants may accompany the pollinators and enter the camper, especially if food or beverages are left out. The garden is shared with our home, so some privacy may be compromised when we tend to it.
Street parking only. Pay attention to posted restriction signs and do not park in business or residential lots. The driveway can be made available at a cost of $10 per night (keep in mind the driveway is located at the front of the property and is a short walk away from the entrance to the camper).
Yard is fenced-in completely but if your pet is an escape artist there are some very small openings to be aware of when letting them off-leash.

This was originally a Girl Scout camp called Singing Pines back in the 30’s. You’ll see as you roam around some of the original buildings and structures. It hasn’t been in operation as a Girl Scout camp for over 30 years. The bigger building is an Airbnb for groups. They will also have access to the lake.
DIRECTIONS:
Take Exit for Angeles Crest Hwy (Hwy 2) from the 210
Go North, up the mountain for 29 miles
Turn left on Sulpher Springs Rd
Go about a mile and you will see a Singing Pines sign up on a hill on the right side.
There is a white gate which is usually open but if it's closed go ahead and open it.
Go down that driveway about a mile and turn left at the fork.
Follow that road down and around the lake staying to the right. Once you passed the lake there will be a little uphill and the location is on the left.

The Skoolie is a converted short bus with two love seats that convert to an RV queen bed, sink, stove top, dinette, and over head lights. Outside is a private meadow with a short walk to a small lake. You can bring your fishing gear. It's stocked with Bass and Bluegill. Outside the Skoolie is a picnic table, fire pit (firewood $10 a bundle) and a hammock. Up the hill, a very short walk is the private campground toilet facility. This is not shared with anyone else.
No cell phone reception no linens bring a sleeping bag or warm blankets. You can charge your phone in the Skoolie for a sunrise alarm or just to take pictures.

Weekend Trip to Vintage Camper In LBC Garden
I stayed here for 3 nights this past weekend and really enjoyed the charm and comfort of this little camper. It was just as described in the listing and reviews so there were no surprises. Getting in and out was easy and the host was very responsive. I read one review about the light coming into the camper from the street lights so I brought a blanket with me to hang over the window and it didn’t bother me at all. (Speaking as someone who normally wears an eye mask to sleep and forgot hers!) The bathroom was small and as a tall girlie it was a little tight to move around there but the rest of the trailer had plenty of space. It was mostly quiet except for a couple dogs in the morning here and there but nothing excessive. I liked that I could walk to the nearby convenience store and grab water and other supplies. Never ever felt unsafe. Saw a lot of families walking around in the morning so it seems like a decent neighborhood. It was a super affordable and I would totally stay here again!

We had such a wonderful weekend at Splitrock Farm & Retreat! My husband and I stayed Friday through Sunday to celebrate our 7-year anniversary, and it was the perfect place to slow down, reconnect, and enjoy being in nature.
We arrived Friday night, and a friendly German Shepherds came over to greet us and stayed by our side while we set up our tent and made a fire. It was such a sweet welcome! Around 4 a.m., we were unfortunately woken up by some campers talking loudly and hanging out near the restroom. Our tent happened to be right next to the restroom, so we asked if they could move their gathering elsewhere. Thankfully, they were very understanding and dispersed.
Saturday morning was especially memorable when a whole herd of goats came by to visit. They were adorable—and apparently very interested in our food! We made the mistake of leaving our baked potatoes roasting on the campfire while we went to watch the sunset, and when we came back, the goats had helped themselves to our potatoes. 😂 Definitely a camping lesson we won’t forget!
We also walked up to the observation deck, which sits on a hill overlooking the property. The view was beautiful and well worth the walk. Even though it was a very hot weekend, the large oak trees provided wonderful shade and relief from the sun, and we loved the steady breeze coming in from the nearby ocean.
There was some barking both nights. We weren’t sure if it was from the dogs, coyotes, or a combination of both, but it definitely added to the feeling of being out in the wilderness. If you’re a light sleeper, it may be worth keeping that in mind when choosing your campsite.
One of my favorite parts of the weekend was simply sitting beneath the oak trees and sketching. We also loved cooking over the campfire and enjoying the peaceful surroundings. There was something really special about being able to unplug and just spend time together.
Overall, we absolutely loved our stay and would definitely come back. We’d especially love to bring our children next time so they can experience the goats, the views, the trees, and the magic of camping here. ❤️

My dog Teddy and I had an amazing time at the Zen Retreat! Mary was a very friendly and helpful host, and the whole campsite was clean and stocked full of amenities. It’s just as beautiful as all the photos in the listing. Our only issue was the heat! But the misters and the shower definitely helped with that. Plenty of shade as well.

We had a fantastic time camping at Ed’s land! The views were amazing, with Lake Elsinore right in front of our site and easy access to a private dock.
Even though the daytime temperatures reached around 95°F, staying shaded under the trees made it very comfortable, especially with the cool breeze blowing off the water throughout the day. The highlight of the trip was definitely the sunset—the beautiful afterglow over the lake was so relaxing and made us forget all our stress.
A quick tip for future campers: as some other reviews mention, there are small bugs attracted to lights in the evening. They aren’t mosquitoes and don't bite, but bringing a bug zapper or light controls definitely helps! Also, keep in mind that motorized boats and jet skis make it a bit lively/noisy during peak day hours, but it didn't take away from the overall experience.
We would definitely come back again with the family. We really had a great time!
