Chino Hills State Park is a premier open-space area in the hills around the Santa Ana Canyon and is a critical link in the Puente-Chino Hills biological corridor. The park's 14,100 acres of rolling, grassy hills and valleys are dotted with stands of oaks and sycamores and a place where people can find peace and solitude in a natural setting. Recreational opportunities include hiking, mountain biking, or horseback riding on over 90 miles of trails, or a visit to the historic Rolling M Ranch barn. Visitors can also enjoy a trip to the Discovery Center, featuring exhibits on wildlife and biological diversity and an accessible nature trail. Park Closure - The park will close for at least 48 hours following rain of more than one quarter inch. High clay content in the soil causes “greased” trails and roads. Use during this time makes hiking, bicycling and equestrian activities hazardous and causes severe rutting of trail and road surfaces. The park is also closed during times of extreme fire danger, when the National Weather Service announces a Red Flag Warning.

Splitrock Farm Splitrock was part of a 160-acre avocado farm that prospered from 1970 to 2017, generating over 1million pounds of avocados per year until the previous owners switched off the water in 2017. Ben purchased 101 acres in 2021 with plans to harvest the dead avocado trees for firewood and replant with organic, sustainable crops such as grapes, citrus trees, and flowers. Splitrock's attraction comes from its unique groves, magnificent granite boulders, and sweeping vistas. Mixed within the avocado groves are several ancient groves and solitary trees that include 200 foot tall pines, hundreds of old oaks, and soaring palms. Freckled throughout the hillsides are thousands of humongous granite boulders, offering a prehistoric feel to the landscape. Above all, Splitrock offers unrivaled views. Over 40 miles of coastline includes views to Point Loma, the Carlsbad power station, and the Pendleton Hospital. The camping area resides on the North side of the Via Cordoniz access road, starting at Deadwood Dome site and the Detour N De Luz sign at top of staircase, ranging North West 3/4 of the mountain up, and 10 acres left. Please be mindful of the property markers, and respect our neighboring property lines. You are responsible for your own fitness in hiking the inclining trails and staircases. Hiking or walking sticks are highly recommended. A shared cooking area, has been cleared, providing use of the propane gas grill (campers must supply own 1 lb green canister), standard size cooler, small fire extinguisher, and carved or cut seating. Nearby, a shared pit toilet with a small 5 gallon black solar shower bag, shower toga, toilet paper, glass wash basin and pouring bottle-for minor freshening, vanity mirror and 5 gallon water jug, refilled daily- or more frequently, if needed, all located in a pallet wood stall. Two additional 3 persons sleeping tents are both folded and stored at the cooking area, for guest use. Please leave an additional $5 per night, per sleeping tent used and fold back neatly, before check out. Lovely small campground

We loved our one night stay. Maybe not normal - but the beautiful green hills and snow capped mountains were stunning. The campground is in a beautiful area. We did have to move spots as the site we had was on a slope. This would not have worked for our old small RV for cooking and sleeping (no way for us to level). Campground was clean. Lots of cool hiking trails.
