These 6 acres are like a secret gated oasis in the middle of rural Vista. The site has access to power and water and a natural spring-fed stream and pond, a shade structure with a table for meals and a little creekside trail. Plenty of space to view wildlife, romp around, play games or rest and relax. In town for work? Surf trip? It is a family-friendly escape that’s close to everything! ((IMPORTANT: NO BATHROOMS ON SITE)) 5 minutes to Rancho Guajome Adobe 6 minutes to Guajome Regional Park 10 minutes to multiple stores, restaurants, coffee shops, urgent care etc… 20 minutes to the beach 20 minutes to Fallbrook wineries 25 minutes to Carlsbad Flower Fields 30 minutes to Legoland 40 minutes to San Diego Zoo Safari Park 50 minutes to USS Midway 50 minutes to Sea World 50 minutes to San Diego Zoo

Great horned owls live in the oaks surrounding this lovely little spot and can often be heard at night. Close to the gated entrance, this site has access to a gazebo with a table for meals and shade. A meandering creek flows through the site, with level space for outdoor games and some palm trees for hammocks. There is a 15 amp outlet at the gazebo and a spigot for water. The pad has some bumpy terrain but is fairly level for a smaller camper/trailer all the way at the back of the parking area. Parking closer to the gazebo may require some leveling. There are no bathrooms onsite and no blackwater dumping or human waste dumping onsite. Guests must bring a camper/trailer or a portable loo. An additional tent may be placed on the site for larger groups as long as there is a trailer or portable loo available for bathroom use.

With the sweet soundtrack of crickets all night, campers will find this to be our most private site, tucked away near the far corner of the pond. There is a nice level spot for parking a camper van or other small camper (under 22 ft total length.) We’ve run a 15 amp extension cord out to the site and there is a spigot nearby for water but no water hookup unless you have a super long hose (over 200 ft). There is a small table for 2 and a shady area where you could hang a hammock. You’ll be camping surrounded by oaks and native plants. Navigating into the spot requires a bit of a steep driveway and sharp left turn but it’s totally manageable if you are a confident driver of your vehicle. Exiting the site will require backing up and turning around before heading out. Please note that there are no restrooms available for this site and that all campers must have a portable loo of some kind. There is no blackwater dumping onsite and we ask all campers to use only campsoap or other totally non toxic biodegradable soap for any grey water that is dumped in the bushes as this campsite sits in an environmental easement and we want to take good care of the wildlife.

Turtle Pond Flats

Turtle Flats is a large, level lot with a pond overlook. The turtles from the pond love to come up and lay their eggs on the surrounding hillside, hence the name 🐢😁. We can accommodate RVs or trailers up to 32 ft. Although the pad is large enough to accomodate larger trailers, the driveway to get to the pad has a narrow turn that does not work well with larger rigs. There is currently 30 amp electricity available and water hookups. There is a covered area for shade. The steel structure may be tall enough to accommodate parking for smaller campers, however taller trailers can park adjacent. If parking adjacent, make sure to have a longer power cord and hose for reaching the hookups that are under the parking structure. Close access to the pond and creek for wildlife viewing and general relaxation. Expect to hear frogs and crickets at night. 🐸 There are no bathrooms available and no blackwater dumping or human waste disposal available onsite. Guests must bring a trailer or portable loo.

Facil de llegar, la propiedad muy bonita, mi camper es de 24ft, en mi caso es necesario nivelar, pero si tu camper es mas chico no necesitas nada. Muy agradable todo, lo recomiendo. Easy to get to, the property is very nice. My camper is 24 feet, and in my case, leveling was necessary, but if your camper is smaller, you won't need to do anything. Everything was very pleasant; I recommend it.

This property is absolutely gorgeous. The pond is really nice with turtles and ducks swimming in it. The hammock was super relaxing. Lacy and Ben were awesome hosts. The parking is a little tricky and Ben was super helpful. I’m pretty new to my trailer, so I would definitely make sure you have help backing in, unless you know what you’re doing.

Overall I had a good experience! Lacy was super cute and the property is a nature oasis. I did not realize that there is not a toilet or any kind of restroom/shower/.. you would have to bring your own or drive to the next shop/cafe. That was more my mistake to not read but for the money that would be nice to have. it is very private in nature so don’t expect to meet other travelers! I wanted to be alone so it was perfect. Thank you lacy for the stay!

Aptly named, Hidden Waters is a gem! The hostess was welcoming and showed us around her Paradise. We had the spot near the gazebo, and though small, it was perfect for my campervan. Lots to explore or just enjoy in this slice of Eden.

Great host. Lacy met us personally and showed us the land. Beautiful spot to lounge and avoid the city. the spot has wild life. We were car camping and found the coyotes are not afraid of people. Do not leave food or small pets outside. They came right to the car and our dogs were going crazy. We would go back for sure.

This was unexpectedly a wonderful place to stay. Unexpected because we did not think that such a tranquil beautiful place could be found so close to civilization. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and the tour that Lacy gave on our arrival. It felt a little bit like a step back in time. Lacey was a gracious host and we enjoyed our interaction with her. Overnight was super dark, quiet, and peaceful. We slept like babies. We highly recommend a stay here. Would recommend having levelers with you if you don’t already have them for the gazebo place where we stayed.

I stayed at Lacy’s place in my sprinter van for two nights that were great. The place is peaceful and quiet. Lacy met me at the security gate when I pulled in taking me to the spot I backed into for my stay. I recommend staying here and when there check out the trail down to the pond for a serene experience.

One of the most beaitiful sites in the HiCamp system with the kindest and most accommodating of hosts. The large and level site was quiet and private with the added benefit of electric access. It was a truly peaceful, naturally beautiful site complete with a reflective pond and interesting wildlife. We highly recommend it.

A magical place!

Lacy and Ben were the kindest, most accommodating hosts that we have experienced on Hip camp so far. They were very welcoming and attentive, as we enjoyed conversation with them. Although the Owl Creek site was not a good fit for us, they were very flexible and guided us in moving to the Cricket Cove site which was just right. Private, peaceful and quiet as well as surrounded with a natural beauty including a spring fed pond, it was just what we were looking for. Although the drive and turn into the spot seemed challenging at first, it was no problem and the site itself was roomy and level complete with electric availability.

This place is absolutely adorable! The pond is beautiful and Lucy has a perfect spot to set up and relax! The driveway is steep with a tight turn that has a tree on one side and limited space on the other which made it difficult to get in and out. I would also be nervous when it rained that the ground may get soft and possible have issues getting out. That being said, I loved staying there. The property was beautiful and Lucy is a wonderful host—I would definitely recommend

Definitely had owls very close by in the night! So peaceful. There was some slight road noise but it was very minimal. A sanctuary for sure. Very good vibes, and Lacy was so welcoming and helpful. No facilities (although the gazebo was nice), just a water spigot. And a lovely walk down to the pond.

Hidden Waters is a perfect name for Lacy's property. My site, "Cricket Cove" was very private right on the pond under Oak Trees and Palm Trees. Lacy initiated and replied to preparation messages promptly so I felt prepared and very welcome. I will definitely be coming back.

Turtle Pond Flats
We camped at Turtle Flats and had an amazing experience that met our requirements. The view was spectacular from the campsite. It felt like you were in a tropical jungle. The family loved hiking around the property, swinging in the hammock, hanging out near the lake, looking at the wildlife . We saw an owl, egret, turtles, and ducks. We had a 22’ Airstream and there was 30amp available and water hookup. We brought our portable firepit since there was a fire ban in the area. For us it was easy to get in and out. The incline was not bad at all from some other comments. Highly recommend.

Lacy was great. She communicated well. She even reached out to me in advance to let me know about a jazz concert that was going to be in the area during my stay. The property was great too. It was very peaceful and quiet. The availability of 30 amp power, water, and the large shade cover with picnic table right at the site was a huge plus. Also, there was plenty of restaurants and things to do only a few minutes away.

Lacy and her husband are the best! Lacy’s communication is top notch and I really appreciated that from the very beginning of our interaction. Unfortunately the day before our trip was supposed to commence, we found out that our electrical was damaged by rats upon getting it from storage. This completely devastated us as we were looking forward to our trip to Turtle Flats and the fact that we now have to have our RV in the shop for several weeks before we can get back out there! Fortunately Lacy and her husband have been more than gracious with us and our situation and we are forever grateful! We look forward to finally having our RV ready to go so we can book at Turtle Flats again and actually get to stay this time! I highly recommend booking Turtle Flats or any other spots they have on their gorgeous property!
