We're 54 miles from Redding off of 299E, (about 1-1/2 hour drive). DO NOT TAKE ROAD 11 FROM THE NORTH, IT IS CLOSED! PIease try to ignore the "car art" in the Pit River Tribe's Rancheria as you're coming here. Drive right through it, it's no reflection on us. The last mile or so of the road here can be pretty rough, but on arrival, you'll know it's worth the trip!
No Cell phone service available here, so it's the perfect opportunity to unplug. We do have a land line up at the house in case of an emergency. Also, if you really need it, WiFi is available at the house.

It is a one minute walk to the Gateway Hiking and Biking trailhead and right on the way to Bunny Flat and further up the mountain. I do not have bathroom facilities, but I do have electricity and drinking water. There is a covered kitchen area with a cold water sink available to wash face/hands/dishes or to obtain drinking water. There is also some counter top area, with electricity. There are no streetlights; we live in the country. There ARE lights at the property entrance gate and in the kitchen area. The vehicle camping/parking spot is on level gravel under a large oak tree and commands a generous view. The tent camping area and the covered kitchen are a short walk further, on a paved road. The tent camping area is again under giant oaks, on soft ground, nestled in a hidden cove amid the landscaping. and conveniently near the covered kitchen area. You will sleep peacefully under a multitude of stars and awaken to a chorus of early bird song, including quail, robins, finches, jays, audubon warblers and many others who may be migrating through. We are on the Pacific Flyway. Take your coffee to the pond sitting area and let the sounds of the waterfall wash over you.

FIRE BAN IS IN EFFECT ALL YEAR ROUND. This includes NO USE of camp stoves, jet boils, bbq grills unless inside your van or trailer. Please plan on picnic foods. Thank you. This is a high desert terrain highly volatile and afternoon breezes can come up in the summer.
There are 3 RV and/or camping sites available for campers to book. Please note that there are no RV hookups for any of the sites. You will be parking on loose gravel and the sites are relatively flat. We can accommodate most RVs/trailers, if you are uncertain about the size just send me a message.
There is a portapotty in the hay barn cleaned regularly and a water spigot for non-potable water uses. There is no shower available but you could wash off hands and feet if desired with the hose.
Pets are allowed at campsites #2 and #3 only. These campsites are farthest from the horses and dogs. Please keep dogs on leash at all times.
The property offers a beautiful view of Mount Shasta. Nature lovers, extreme sports enthusiasts, family vacationers and retirees, can all enjoy the vast recreational opportunities this area has to offer.
Lake Siskiyou is about 20 miles south and offers a wonderful 7-mile hiking trail around the entire lake.

Shasta View Campsites are part of a former 30,000 acre ranch that was split up into smaller parcels in the 1970's. It is comprised of 5 to 500 acre parcels. All these parcels are homesteads. There are no commercial or industrial areas on the Ranch. In 2005, I started looking for land in the Shasta area after falling in love with the Mountain and it's surrounding lakes. I have always known exactly what the land I would spend time on would look like.
One day, in 2006, I was driving on the Hammond Ranch, again hoping I would find that place. I was driving my van, with my 2 kids and some of our friends, through a heavily wooded area. I made a left turn down a dusty dirt road and Eureka! I had found IT. I was at the top of a 60 acre meadow that had a full unobstructed view of Mt. Shasta, encircled by lenticular clouds. I told a friend of mine, who was at the time a realtor in the Shasta area, that I had found a piece of land that looks perfect to me. If, that is, it also had a creek on it. She did some searching around and found out that the land that is now Shasta View was in fact for sale. And, it had a creek on it. And it was comprised of some acreage in the meadow and some in the trees. This was everything I had wanted. I bought the land within the next 2 weeks.
After camping on the land a few times, I started to understand where the best sites would be to build some structures. Because the meadow always has a certain amount of moisture to the ground, it is not suitable for building a structure. The good thing about that, is that nobody who owns land in that meadow will ever build there. We will only be looking at Mt. Shasta from that meadow. Never a building. The platform I built in the meadow offers on a chance to sleep under the stars. Billions of them. My property is only one of two that have old, large Cedar and Pine trees on it. It made perfect sense that I would be building a small house in those trees. While camping on this land, you will find exquisite beauty and solitude. Within 30 minutes, you will find Lake Siskiyou and Castle Lake for some of the finest swimming around.
If you fish, the McCloud and the Sacramento rivers offer some of the best trout fishing in the state. There are two “Blue Ribbon” designated streams. The first is Upper Sacramento River. It starts as a trickle from the melting snows of Mt Shasta and by the time it reaches the area around the town of Dunsmuir which is just south of Shasta City, it is a true “Blue Ribbon” designated trout stream. The place to find all the ins and outs of fly fishing in this area is at the Ted Fay Fly Fishing shop in Dunsmuir. The second “Blue Ribbon” trout fishing is on the McCloud River. Historically some of the best trout fishing to be found. I have fished both these streams and always caught fish.

Welcome to Roca Ranch Camp. This camp is ideal for those that want to be off the beaten path ... on the road less traveled yet conveniently located less than 10 minutes from Mt Shasta and 5 minutes to Weed. The Camp is on 10 pristine acres in the Hammond Ranch area with a beautiful view of Mt Shasta to the East.
25' RVs with tow car OK, Sprinter Vans/ Class C with tow car OK/Class B/ Trailer 25' with tow OK. If you have a car in tow please go to the top of the driveway at the loop and remove the car in tow before entering the driveway to the Hip Camp. If you are a bit longer just text us and we can see if it can work. All campers must be self contained with holding tanks. NO TENT CAMPING. This camp is for SELF CONTAINED RVs. If you arrive without your own toilet you will be asked to leave. Doggies are allowed and should be leased for the safety of wildlife. All pets must sleep in your RV. There are many critters out at night!
There is a 20 AMP electric hook up to power. YOU CAN NOT RUN AN AIR CONDITIONER...AC.... ON A 20 AMP CONNECTION. You can use your own generator system to run AC for your trailer, motorhome or van. Generators hours are 8AM to 9PM. lease be respectful of our quiet space and only run generators when necessary.
The camp is by a beautiful Zinnia garden which blooms in the summer and a small orchard which is all fenced in. The property is wooded and has a view of Mt Shasta from the camp.
The camp has a picnic table, two outdoor chairs, WE ARE UNDER CAMPFIRE RESTRICTIONS AT THIS TIME. NO CAMPFIRES WILL BE ALLOWED. Please ask upon your arrival if restrictions have been lifted.
There is a cool soaking tub available to beat the heat during the summer months!

There are several walks right from the Camp to a beautiful pond and hill walks for panoramic views. All dirt roads... so great mountain bike exploring!
You will be surrounded by beautiful large Ponderosa Pines, wild flowers and White Fir trees. There is open sky for star gazing and no lights to obstruct your sky views. This is a very quiet area that is visited by deer, bears, many species of birds, eagles, owls, rabbits, fox, hawks and more.

I am still gathering words to express how this land, garden & the woman that has built and cares for it is Truly a Peace of Heaven on Earth!! This land is for those looking to disconnect and connect with themselves and the mountain. I never turned music on when the sounds of nature and flowing waterfalls gave me a symphony of natures sounds. Ease of access to everything and Jacqueline is a walking angel. May all whom are looking …. stay here and experience a Peace of Land where Heaven Meets Earth!! Many Many more trips I will return to here. Viva Mount Shasta!!

Karen greeted me and showed me all the areas I could park. She was so welcoming and even walked over some snacks which was awesome! The barn was so cute and the bathroom was very clean. The stars at night were incredible and I was able to catch some of the meteor show 😍

I enjoyed my stay at this peaceful spot under the mountain. Walking distance to town, fresh blackberries, and a welcoming host. I would say to keep in mind that there is a train nearby - it does say that in the description, but just be aware that you will hear this during your stay. Despite the fact that it did roll through in the night, I slept relatively well and I am a light sleeper - I think that is a testament to the tranquilty of the space!

Ali was a really welcoming host. There was a fire and home made bread and butter when I arrived from an event that had happened which was really sweet and special. I ended up staying an extra night to take advantage of the quaint town thats walkable from Ali’s place (health food store just a shot 5 min walk away) and of course the amazing nature spots at Ali’s suggestion. There’s a train that is close by but it was honestly such a unique feature of the stay and I didn’t lose any sleep even though it was pretty close by. I felt safe and comfortable. My only suggestion to Ali would be to add readable instructions for the water hookup and some lights near the bathroom for night time. I would definitely suggest this place to others who want a welcoming host and a unique safe place to camp right in the middle of town.

Scott has done so much work on the place in the last year. New hut, steps to warm springs, umbrella, and solar lights along the path. He even installed a cold water spigot so you don't have to bucket the cold water from the river anymore! The porta potties are very clean.

The grounds are beautiful, park-like. We sat by the pond in the evening and looked at the stars and listened to the waterfall and had a glass of wine. It’s close to town and hiking. I would return in my camper.

Great spot to unplug. As of August, the creek was a great temperature for swimming, and the hot springs were warm and well maintained. The sites themselves are nice and spread out, with plenty of shade for tent campers. Only wish we could’ve stayed longer!

Amazing stay! The absolute best stargazing I’ve ever experienced in my life — truly incredible. And the views of Mt. Shasta are stunning. WOW.
We stayed at Site 2 in early August, and it was HOT when we arrived around 6pm. I’m honestly glad we didn’t get there any earlier because it would’ve been a lot of heat to handle while waiting for the sun to go down. Once the sun set, though, it was perfect. The overnight temps were super comfortable for sleeping in our CyberTent.
Our site had a picnic table, which was really nice to have. I’m glad we chose site 2 as it felt slightly more private. The primitive outhouse/restroom was just a short walk from the campsite — close enough to be convenient, but not so close that the wind is blowing any “essence” toward your site 😂. There’s also a hose bib with filtered water up near the garage.
The host lives on site and was so kind and pleasant when he came over to introduce himself. After that, we never saw or heard another person for the rest of the evening or the following morning. It really felt like we had the place to ourselves.
The location feels wonderfully remote and peaceful while still being conveniently located about 15 minutes from the freeway. GPS took us right there, and the campsites are clearly marked, so finding our site was easy.
We absolutely loved our stay and would stay here again. And seriously — the stars alone are worth it!
