We're 54 miles from Redding off of 299E, (about 1-1/2 hour drive). DO NOT TAKE ROAD 11 FROM THE NORTH, IT IS CLOSED! PIease try to ignore the "car art" in the Pit River Tribe's Rancheria as you're coming here. Drive right through it, it's no reflection on us. The last mile or so of the road here can be pretty rough, but on arrival, you'll know it's worth the trip!
No Cell phone service available here, so it's the perfect opportunity to unplug. We do have a land line up at the house in case of an emergency. Also, if you really need it, WiFi is available at the house.

Shasta View Campsites are part of a former 30,000 acre ranch that was split up into smaller parcels in the 1970's. It is comprised of 5 to 500 acre parcels. All these parcels are homesteads. There are no commercial or industrial areas on the Ranch. In 2005, I started looking for land in the Shasta area after falling in love with the Mountain and it's surrounding lakes. I have always known exactly what the land I would spend time on would look like.
One day, in 2006, I was driving on the Hammond Ranch, again hoping I would find that place. I was driving my van, with my 2 kids and some of our friends, through a heavily wooded area. I made a left turn down a dusty dirt road and Eureka! I had found IT. I was at the top of a 60 acre meadow that had a full unobstructed view of Mt. Shasta, encircled by lenticular clouds. I told a friend of mine, who was at the time a realtor in the Shasta area, that I had found a piece of land that looks perfect to me. If, that is, it also had a creek on it. She did some searching around and found out that the land that is now Shasta View was in fact for sale. And, it had a creek on it. And it was comprised of some acreage in the meadow and some in the trees. This was everything I had wanted. I bought the land within the next 2 weeks.
After camping on the land a few times, I started to understand where the best sites would be to build some structures. Because the meadow always has a certain amount of moisture to the ground, it is not suitable for building a structure. The good thing about that, is that nobody who owns land in that meadow will ever build there. We will only be looking at Mt. Shasta from that meadow. Never a building. The platform I built in the meadow offers on a chance to sleep under the stars. Billions of them. My property is only one of two that have old, large Cedar and Pine trees on it. It made perfect sense that I would be building a small house in those trees. While camping on this land, you will find exquisite beauty and solitude. Within 30 minutes, you will find Lake Siskiyou and Castle Lake for some of the finest swimming around.
If you fish, the McCloud and the Sacramento rivers offer some of the best trout fishing in the state. There are two “Blue Ribbon” designated streams. The first is Upper Sacramento River. It starts as a trickle from the melting snows of Mt Shasta and by the time it reaches the area around the town of Dunsmuir which is just south of Shasta City, it is a true “Blue Ribbon” designated trout stream. The place to find all the ins and outs of fly fishing in this area is at the Ted Fay Fly Fishing shop in Dunsmuir. The second “Blue Ribbon” trout fishing is on the McCloud River. Historically some of the best trout fishing to be found. I have fished both these streams and always caught fish.

We have 20 magical acres in beautiful rural McCloud with The Dome right on the creek. With the creek as your view, you’ll have privacy and many acres to roam.
This is sacred land, we hold events here on this property such as CE5 and Spirit Photography. We have been on Beyond Skinwalker Ranch and a few other tv series.
Loads of wildlife roam these lands so be prepared to see bear, coyote, deer, fox and many species of birds including a Heron live down by the creek. Be mindful of not keeping any food in your car and making sure to place it in the fridge inside the dome.
We are 6 miles away from the McCloud reservoir, 15 mins from McCloud Falls, 5 mins from the town of McCloud and 20 mins to Mount Shasta.
The Dome sleeps 2 adults, has electric, 2 bed side lamps that charge phones, with a pillow top mattress, kitchen bar with hot water kettle, a french press, a dining table set, coat rack, and a hammock.
We do not have a cook top stove, or microwave , plan to eat out as it’s safer and we don’t get trash service here, I cart it all out myself. Bringing snacks totally ok and can go in the fridge. There’s no fires of any kind that we can allow here so no bbq or cooking. We know all the good spots and will gladly share them.
The Composting toilet is one of the best on the market, called Natures Head. It’s located outside of the dome for privacy in camp tent with everything you’ll need inside.
The outdoor shower is located near the main home, but built into the forest and private. We like to give guests what we would want to experience, and it turned out pretty fantastic. Shampoo, conditioner, Body soap will be provided for you here.
There are bugs, There are wildlife, this is a glamping experience so please know that when you book, you will know what you’re getting. Although this is luxury glamping it’s still glamping

FIRE BAN IS IN EFFECT ALL YEAR ROUND. This includes NO USE of camp stoves, jet boils, bbq grills unless inside your van or trailer. Please plan on picnic foods. Thank you. This is a high desert terrain highly volatile and afternoon breezes can come up in the summer.
There are 3 RV and/or camping sites available for campers to book. Please note that there are no RV hookups for any of the sites. You will be parking on loose gravel and the sites are relatively flat. We can accommodate most RVs/trailers, if you are uncertain about the size just send me a message.
There is a portapotty in the hay barn cleaned regularly and a water spigot for non-potable water uses. There is no shower available but you could wash off hands and feet if desired with the hose.
Pets are allowed at campsites #2 and #3 only. These campsites are farthest from the horses and dogs. Please keep dogs on leash at all times.
The property offers a beautiful view of Mount Shasta. Nature lovers, extreme sports enthusiasts, family vacationers and retirees, can all enjoy the vast recreational opportunities this area has to offer.
Lake Siskiyou is about 20 miles south and offers a wonderful 7-mile hiking trail around the entire lake.

The Happy Valley Roadhouse is a peaceful, welcoming retreat just five miles off Interstate 5. Whether you’re looking for a quiet overnight stay, a creative getaway, or a unique venue for your next gathering, our working farm offers comfort, inspiration, and plenty of room to unwind.
Set among open fields and beautiful views, the Roadhouse is a fun and memorable place to meet, relax, and explore. Guests enjoy stargazing, cornhole, kite flying, disc golf, and scenic hikes around the property.
We also welcome RVs, horse trailers, and livestock travelers. There is ample space for parking, turning, and setting up. We offer room to board horses or other livestock, plus open areas and trails where you can ride and stretch their legs.
Your stay includes thoughtful amenities such as an outdoor shower, a clean and comfortable outhouse, potable water, and a cozy lounge where you can stretch out, read, or challenge someone to a game of chess or darts.

We are within walking distance of the old single lane bridge which spans the scenic Trinity River and the historic part of Lewiston. The picturesque surroundings are one our guests enjoy immensely. Wildlife flourishes in this area, deer graciously journey through the terrain on a regular basis, eagles soar above our forested mountains, ducks, blue heron and osprey are seen regularly. For the angular enthusiast, the Trinity River provides excellent fishing opportunities for steelhead, salmon and German browns. Shasta. A short drive away is beautiful Lake Siskiyou and Castle Lake. Take a journey up the mountain and enjoy gorgeous hiking trails with stunning views.

Without exaggeration, this is possibly the most beautiful Hipcamp site anywhere. You are in the shadow of Mount Shasta and overlooking the valley surrounding Lake Shastina. It is one of the quietest camp sites yet only one mile from the road. If driving on a dirt road bothers you, that may be the one drawback. It depends on the vehicle you’re driving and the driver’s experience.
Site 1 accommodated our needs during for an overnight spot on our interstate move. We felt very safe and at peace there and hope to return for a recreational visit.

I enjoyed my quick in-and-out at this Hipcamp. The property is easy to access and well marked. I arrived just after sunset and left shortly after sunrise. The sound of the creek was peaceful, and there was zero road, neighbor, or dog noise during my visit—only the occasional train horn off in the distance. The onsite porta-potty was clean and only a few paces from camp. Site 1 is the most private and better suited for tent campers and small rigs without need for a clear view of the sky for solar or Starlink. Site 2 is more open but also more level, with a clearer view of the sky for solar and Starlink. I'd definitely camp here again on my next long journey up and down the 5. Thanks for hosting me, Bodhi!

Trinity Outpost Wilderness Campsite was an incredible getaway and easily one of the most peaceful camping experiences I’ve had. The mineral springs were a standout—perfect for a cold plunge after hiking and a really unique feature that made the trip feel special. We also found a super easy day hike right along the creek that was beautiful, relaxing, and accessible for all skill levels.
The campsite itself is well maintained and thoughtfully set up, with fun extras like a tire swing, volleyball net, and tetherball that add to the laid-back, playful atmosphere. At night, it was quiet and peaceful, and we fell asleep to the sound of the creek running right past our site.
A couple practical notes for future campers: the bathrooms are a big plus, but definitely bring your own septic-friendly toilet paper because it ran out quickly. Also, don’t rely on on-site drinking water—we never actually found any, so it’s best to bring all the water you’ll need.
Getting there is fairly straightforward, but be prepared for about 13 miles of gravel road. A vehicle with decent clearance is strongly recommended; one of our friends in a sedan ended up losing a skid plate along the way.
Overall, it’s a beautiful, well-kept, and quiet campsite that feels truly tucked away in nature, with just enough amenities to stay comfortable without losing the wilderness feel.

We didn't stay over night but did the day use for the hot springs. The directions we received were very helpful and clear. Hot springs were awesome! All easily accessible and lots of different options for heat, including cold plunge in the river. Beautiful setting and property, we look forward to coming back and camping next time!

My family's plans changed last minute and we were just looking for an affordable option near Redding. Happy Valley Roadhouse turned out to be so much more. Karen was very friendly and welcoming and treated my daughters like family. The barn was a great spot to hang out and get out of the wind. Would definitely recommend.

The host was excellent with providing directions and information, and the site was exactly as described. The hot springs and cool creek were wonderful after a day spent at Burney Falls and the Subway lava tube. Met one of my sore neighbors and we had a nice chat, very friendly.
