After a bumpy ride into camp, we were greeted by Rocco and his little buddy. Both initially barked, but calmed down quickly. Lisa showed us to our site, and my dog enjoyed being off-leash all afternoon/evening. The juniper trees were rough on my allergies, but the star-studded, Milky Way-brightened sky made it worth it. Appreciated the simple shower facility and small fire pit. Aside from the singing crickets and chorus of coyotes, it was very quiet - no other guests. If I were to add clarity to the directions, I say put Two Horses Camp in your GPS and then "From the paved A-12, turn onto Cinder Pit Rd and drive about 1 mile on the wide lava-rock road (I felt better having 4x4 engaged) to the rust-colored Two Horses metal sign. Turn left onto the narrow dirt road (study it Google maps) to
the first trailer. If Lisa doesn't greet you, proceed down past the gate to the right toward the second trailer (Coleman). Rocco, his little buddy, and Lisa will find you and direct you to your spot." No firewood needed as Pat has a few pieces (though I wouldn't mess with/burn the pressure-treated pieces - nasty splinters and unwanted chemicals)
This 40 acre property sits at the base of Mt. Shasta. Our site had direct full views of Mt Shasta. This is a property slowly being developed so bathroom wasn’t done yet and no porta-potty available. There is an outdoor shower, but the water pressure is low and it’s not heated water. It was acquit although I think a garden house and sprayer would have been better.
The owner and host are friendly and nice and I can see this becoming a very special and unique property eventually. I’ll definitely give it another shot next year to see how the progress was.
If you’re use to roughing it with tent camping in the wilderness, you will love this location. If you’re looking for something leaning towards glamping or having “services”, this isn’t the property for you - yet (Aug 2026) but it’s on its way to becoming a glamping mecca.
If you’re musically gifted, this is also a place for you to bring your talent. The owner is a musician and wants to attract fellow musicians with planned concerts in the future.
If you’re a photographer, this place offers spectacular settings.
Getting here was a little tricky. The “flag” was hard to see as it had been blown up into a tree branch and Google Maps will lead you down the wrong path. Better signage would be a great help here, but the host, Lisa was able to see we were lost and guided us to the right location.
You will be woken up by two friendly dogs so if you’re not wanting to get up early, they will stay outside your tent and bark.

Overall a totally fine experience. Lisa and Pat were both friendly and hospitable upon arrival. Communication prior to arrival and about the property itself could definitely be improved. Its worth nothing that there are two friendly but curious dogs that live on the property. We were paid a visit early in the morning by one of them barking at our tent. Something else worth mentioning is that at roughly 1030 pm a semi truck drove into the property and then sat around listening to very loud music in their car ~50 yards from our campsite.
This is likely a great option for a lot of people with views of Mt Shasta and appropriately priced + with easy access to town, however it was not nearly as private as we anticipated based on the description.

Pat has a beautiful site with gorgeous views of Mount Shasta. It is a large property which is fun to explore. The campsite is comfortable with a nice fire pit, an outdoor shower, and they are currently putting in a bathroom. It is quiet and peaceful and I highly recommend it!

We loved this property! It is very clean, offers stunning views, has great hosts. The host is working on adding some stuff to the camp and it is only going to make it better! The night sky and view of the stars was incredible!

Lovely area, love the smell of juniper trees, if youre planning to camp this time of year note that it can get into the freezing temperatures, view of shasta is amazing. Theres a local dollar general 15 minutes away should you ever forget and need anything.

Beautiful site in a nice location. It is a work in progress. No bathroom or showers yet, but the host is working on them. I enjoyed staying there and it will get nothing but better. Pat is a delightful host.

Be sure to follow his directions, not Apple Maps. Also, be aware cell service is limited at best and there wasn’t WiFi.
However, it’s a cool spot. The views are amazing and the stars are breath taking. A bit rugged and rural, so make sure you’re prepared. The views of Mount Shasta are top notch!
This is a great spot surrounded by beautiful environments. The view of Shasta is ideal and the camping spots themselves are great. Would definitely enjoy this hipcamp again!

It's a beautiful site - gorgeous juniper trees and manzanita bushes, soft sand, and it smells wonderful. A number of great hiking trails nearby - very silent and peaceful, lots of stars at night. Really pretty much nobody around and a gorgeous view of Mount Shasta to the south.
Pat was very welcoming. To check in with her, just go down the road till you see a camper house, that's hers.
Location was stunning- Mt. Shasta is visible from camp. We have a truck with 30ft trailer and the road was a little snug, we took it slow and squeezed in. Area was great and very quiet for overnight.

Pat was an incredible host, easy directions and a beautiful property! We camped with our two dogs, made a nice fire and left very happy the next morning. Would recommend this camp to anyone and will definitely be going back
