Weekend Trip to Cuyama Oaks Ranch

We loved our stay! The sunsets and stars were amazing and Nathan was super accommodating. We enjoyed petting the animals and there was plenty of space to roam for us and our 2 dogs. The shower and composting toilet were really nice features. The whole camp site has a great vibe. Would definitely recommend!

Nice to drive up to warm, enthusiastic greeting from Nate. Guided us to our well equipped site. Whole campground is spacious and delightfully funky. Love it! The views are spectacular and there are several hiking trails on this extensive property. Nate even graciously accepted my seemingly endless questions and comments. It would be way fun to be there with a group of friends. There's even a personal zoo with pigs, turkeys, goats, etc. Well worth it!

Everything was great, beautiful views. We loved having the sound of the river. The owner was very nice and hospitable. We will be back soon hopefully.

2 nights at Boulder Gardens Sanctuary

Unique remote spot. The view is great and it is so silent and calm. Some tips for future campers. You do have to take unpaved dirt roads for a few miles to get to the site. I was fine in my 2wd sedan. The dome has two windows that are missing coverings so wind does get through. I tried camping without a tent the first night but found it too cold for me. There is a picnic table and benches for you to use. I also found that I got a little bit of cell reception at the picnic table overlooking the view. Nice to know it’s there if needed. Might vary based on the phone carrier you have. It worked w t mobile.

2 nights at Boulder Gardens Sanctuary

Shayna & robert were the nicest host/owner of this 600 acre sanctuary. I’ve never experienced anything like this when it came to camping. I was nestled in with 50 foot boulder surrounding me and it was so peaceful. Even the restrooms were very clean and well kept. I’m definitely going back and be sure to leave a generous donation.

This property is indeed a sanctuary. Great hiking and vistas on the property. My campsite was very comfortable and quiet, with good solitude. The community that lives on the property are very welcoming and hospitable. And they are very respectful of your space and privacy. Shayna and Robert are great hosts. I appreciated the conversations with Robert & Rick.

Amazing spot! Super worth it and I highly recommend it to others also the description matched perfectly. One thing we did notice was a white dog roaming around the campsite and near us but it didn't bother us during our stay.

We had a great time camping here! The host John was very helpful and had some great info on the area and things to do with our kids. The site was super spacious and had so much firewood available to burn for our campfire. Showers were pleasant, large and warm!! The location was quiet and peaceful and we would have stayed here longer if time allowed! The site is a short drive to Groveland and endless hikes. Definitely a site we will be returning to!

GREAT energy at Splitrock! Highly recommend! The animals are precious and playful and move around throughout the day. The dogs loved me and looked into my soul! We have thoroughly enjoyed our walks and spelunking around, and the cool shade in the Oak Grove. Many amenities there on-site, and town is only about 10 minutes away. Always woke up refreshed and inspired. All residents and owner were kind, considerate, friendly, and helpful.

Could not have asked for a better stay!! We came out to celebrate my dog’s 10th birthday and had the most beautiful/memorable time. Camping spots were nice, bathrooms clean and workers very friendly. Favorite part was definitely interacting with the farm animals and letting my dog walk around the beautiful land. Can’t wait to book my next visit!

We stayed at the Grandview camp spot at the Songdog Ranch. A wonderful place to camp with spectacular views. Sunsets and sunrises were spectacular. Everything you need is there and hosts are very friendly!

Perfect campsite for a family of four + a pooch. Campsite was clean and easily fit two tents. Facilities were great and the deck overlooking Moro Rock and the Sequoia Park peaks was by far the best feature. Easy access to park or town to dine.

The back part of the property was a stop point for the stage line between Oroville and Bangor during the 1880, Then gold was discovered on the property. There were multiple Gold claims on this property. The Old rock pilings are still there to explore. It is a favorite spot for finding Jasper, Agates and quartz crystals Campers are welcome year-round to this tent site on the old Gold Claim of our 20-acre family farm! Drive right up to this fun-filled, family-friendly campsite, easily accessible by cars and SUVs alike - though 4WD is helpful during the rainy season. This site features two seasonal streams that cross on the property, as well as bushes full of ripe blackberries - if you catch them at the right time, help yourself. You'll enjoy hearing the birds echoing through the trees and could easily see deer tip toeing through the woods. Dogs on leash only. We raise 4H and FFA show and market goats, llamas, and a donkey and a cow, all of whom are very friendly! You'll also see our chickens, ducks, peacocks, and guinea hens. Rock pilings are on the island between the two seasonal streams that cross our land. Gold panning, hiking and creek walking is available on the property. Campers are welcome to stargaze in the field, create scavenger hunts for the kids, or simply sit back and enjoy the tranquility. We also have zip line and a rope course on the property that is closed due to maintenance. The streams dry up in late June and fill up in November when the rains start. Trank Family Farm is 30 minutes from Lake Oroville, 20 minutes from Oroville Wildlife Area and the Feather River - great for kayaking, swimming, and fishing! Be sure to check out the trails and seasonal waterfalls at Table Mountain, 35 minutes away. There are 2 Indian Casinos & Hotels in Oroville, as well as 2 golf ranges - and all with in 20 minutes of the camp site. The college town of Chico is about 30 minutes outside of Oroville. Splitrock Farm Splitrock was part of a 160-acre avocado farm that prospered from 1970 to 2017, generating over 1million pounds of avocados per year until the previous owners switched off the water in 2017. Ben purchased 101 acres in 2021 with plans to harvest the dead avocado trees for firewood and replant with organic, sustainable crops such as grapes, citrus trees, and flowers. Splitrock's attraction comes from its unique groves, magnificent granite boulders, and sweeping vistas. Beautiful Pine Mountain Lake offers golfing, dining, horseback riding, water sports and an airport. When you come to the ranch it feels like you are hundreds of miles away from civilization, but still close to everything you need. It is incredibly peaceful! This is a great place for someone who wants to escape city life and enjoy the tranquillity of nature. Much of the ranch is open wilderness for you to explore, and it's not uncommon to see deer, frogs, turtles, quail, turkeys, or other countless species of birds. Diamond Gulch Camp is the perfect place to relax if you’re a photographer, artist, family or a group of friends looking for a place to camp near Yosemite. A small portion of the property was used as a gold mine years ago, and you may find remnants of old home sites if you go exploring. This is truly a get away from it all camping. That's it. You, the coyotes and your own private moon. Our Songdog Camps are sparsely scattered atop a 200 foot mesa that looks west over a valley offering stunning desert sunsets and amazing stargazing. These UPPER SITES are NOT OHV friendly, but any of our canyon bottom sites are a great base for your riding adventures up in Ballinger Canyon OHV. We'll be happy to recommend a site for you. This is our home but we love to share our life in the outback. We believe it will give you a better appreciation of life's simpler side. Our offerings include fresh air and sunshine, amazing night sky, endless views, and plenty of space and privacy to enjoy your moments in nature. You'll find our amenities and activities puposefully sparse here. Upon booking, there are about 5 miles of dirt road on the property that you are welcome to explore on foot or by bicycle. Rustic is the theme here. There is no shower, no wifi, and no electricity available, but you will enjoy your own private spigot and the cellular service is acceptable. Within a short drive, you'll find plenty of hiking/biking and adventuring, and if you enjoy exploring by car, definitely take a loop drive through Carizzo Plains National Monument, or Mount Pinos and Lockwood Valley. Enjoy a beautiful dinner at the Cuyama Buckhorn and take in the view of the Caliente mountain range. For any sites located south of Ballinger Wash, your vehicle length is limited to 22' and no more than 4' overhang from the rear axle, so you don't get stuck in the crossing and block access for others. Towing services are 1-3 hours away. The AllTrails app will give a pretty good birds eye view of hiking in the area. Our friendly cancellation policies vary between 24 hours for simple campsites and 72 hours for our Glamp sites and Group sites. We do offer a buyout opportunity for the mesa, however the cancellation policy for that much stricter at 50% refund up until 1 week before check-in time. Be sure to check the Google for distance to Cuyama Valley, and your dates for availability and site descriptions. Drive between them and down camp road to your site! (There is a pic of the site map in the posted pic's) Go to Google Maps (NOT GOOGLE SEARCH). Search for Sequoia Mountain Farms Campground. Navigator apps sometimes push folks coming from the south up the 245 highway. It is a very windy and slow climb up the hill. It is doable (even for bigger rigs), but we HIGHLY RECOMMEND continuing north on highway 99 towards Fresno and then heading east on highway 180 up the mountain. It's faster, much more scenic and a much smoother drive. This route also goes right by the nearest gas station on your way up! Heading east on highway 180, out of Fresno, the last gas station is a Valero at 35468 E Kings Canyon Rd. (aka Clingan's Junction). From Clingan's, head east on the 180 for exactly 13.8 miles to the 245 highway (it comes up quick with only 1 or 2 small signs), make a right, heading south. If you hit the park entrance, you went too far, turn around drive back about 5 min and look for the 245 on your left. Once on the 245 heading south, go 5.1 miles. On your right you will pass the 'Pinehurst Lodge', which is on google maps, an easy reference point and is 1 minute or less away (great food, bar, pool table and karaoke on weekends in the summer!). Then a few seconds later the U.S Forest Service "Work Center" is on the right and we are just past that on the same side of the road. First you will see a Giant Sequoia Tree in the front yard (campground road is just to it's right with ORANGE CONES on either side) then an apple ranch with an ole loggers cabin chimney from the late 1800s still standing in the front yard directly off the highway! If you hit the 'leaving sequoia national forest' sign and the community center, you went too far, turn around and drive 1 minute back and look for the apple ranch on your left, pass it and turn left at the ORANGE CONES. Please take note of the posted pics from directly across the street facing what you will see when you get here. PLEASE CHECK THE WEATHER: If you ask us about weather, were just going to have to look online too, so please be sure to check it yourself prior to your trip, before asking us to do it for you. Our hillside property has great Mountain View’s and the driveway turns directly off of Sierra drive, four miles past the town center (3R post office) and just 2 miles from the Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks entrance. It's conveniently located and easy to find! You can hear the tranqual sounds of the flowing Kaweah river from across the street. Sorry, there is NO river access from this campsite. You can go to Slick Rock Recreation area, Lake Kaweah or into the parks to swim, boat, fish and more. Lake Kaweah is about 8 miles away. You drive by it as you enter Three Rivers. My wife Elizabeth and I bought our log home in 2015 and we have been dreaming and adding here ever since! Our dog Chance chases all the fun wildlife off of our property! In addition to deer, we have seen fox, bob cats, an Ocelot, too many coyotes, wild turkeys and bear crossing an animal highway along our upper hillside property line. Hawks, hummingbirds, quail, blue birds, woodpeckers and yellow bellied finches are regularly seen here as well. Owls have been heard; but not seen. We love our country home and mountain views, and look forward to sharing them with you!

My property sits on an area that was once an Indian village, and then the school house for the children of the pioneers. There was a huge Hare Krishna Colony up here in the 60-70's. As a photographer and filmmaker, the lighting up here is amazing! The night skies literally pulsate with their celestial canopy. A great spot to sky watch as well! The property is not kid-friendly, and is not really here for children as much as it is offered for the inner child in adults.
