Splitrock Farm and Retreat started in January 2021 after a global search of a place to set roots, live off the land, and create an amazing place for recreation, relaxation, and rejuvenation.
Splitrock was part of a 160-acre avocado farm that prospered from 1970 to 2017, generating over 1million pounds of avocados per year until the previous owners switched off the water in 2017. Ben purchased 101 acres in 2021 with plans to harvest the dead avocado trees for firewood and replant with organic, sustainable crops such as grapes, citrus trees, and flowers.
Splitrock's attraction comes from its unique groves, magnificent granite boulders, and sweeping vistas. Mixed within the avocado groves are several ancient groves and solitary trees that include 150+ foot tall pines, hundreds of old oaks, and soaring palms. Freckled throughout the hillsides are thousands of humongous granite boulders, offering a prehistoric feel to the landscape. Above all, Splitrock offers unrivaled views. Over 40 miles of coastline includes views to Point Loma, the Carlsbad power station, and the Pendleton Hospital. To the northeast are views of near 11K foot snowy peaks of San Jacinto and San Gorgonio, with rolling hills of De Luz and Fallbrook in the foreground.

Early and late check-out available on tent/rv sites, free of charge. Just message me if you need an earlier check in! Free firewood! We are 30 minutes to the main gate of Yosemite National Park. A great place to stay just outside of the park. Be near the park, but feel that complete privacy. These sites are very spaced out from each other and are large. No need to cram together! Explore the mines and hang out on our Groveland, California ranch!
We have 824 acres on a beautiful cattle ranch with two small ponds. On our property, you'll find frogs, turtles, oak trees, pine trees and stunning views of Yosemite.
We have several campsites to choose from including RV camping, tent camping, and a glamping tent. Pets are welcome. Campfires are permitted as long as there is no fire ban. Potable water and toilet are available onsite.
There's a golf course less than a mile away. We are also very close to town. In just a few minutes, you can drive to our local grocery store and pizza parlour.
We are a 10-minute drive to Pine Mountain Lake. Beautiful Pine Mountain Lake offers golfing, dining, horseback riding, water sports and an airport.
When you come to the ranch it feels like you are hundreds of miles away from civilization, but still close to everything you need. It is incredibly peaceful!
This is a great place for someone who wants to escape city life and enjoy the tranquillity of nature.
Much of the ranch is open wilderness for you to explore, and it's not uncommon to see deer, frogs, turtles, quail, turkeys, or other countless species of birds.
Diamond Gulch Camp is the perfect place to relax if you’re a photographer, artist, family or a group of friends looking for a place to camp near Yosemite.
A small portion of the property was used as a gold mine years ago, and you may find remnants of old home sites if you go exploring. We're not far from Wards Ferry Road, Groveland, Lake Don Pedro and other interesting places.

DISCLAIMER: This is quite different from staying in an ordinary hotel. We are really in NATURE here - these are older cottages hand-built by artists in the forest. They are very rustic! It's like living in a mountain village, with other cottages nearby. While we work very hard to keep our places pristine and spotless - if anyone in your group will faint if they see a bug or lizard or little frog inside - then this probably isn't the place for you. Please be very careful booking cottages for someone else - like your parents just arriving from another continent - they might prefer something more conventional.
Some folks describe our places as a luxurious form of camping. We make our cottages very comfortable - they have all the basics - electricity - wifi - most have kitchens, bath or shower and comfy clean beds. But they are not like a hotel with perfect walls and a sterile atmosphere. Please look at all the pictures and read all the reviews. We can't offer refunds just because we don't meet the standards of a normal hotel. Most people are charmed by this idyllic and bohemian lifestyle - but it's not for everyone.

Beautiful natural campsites in the Valley of the Moon (Ojai Valley). Our sites are within an eighth of a mile of walking, running, biking, and riding trails from Ojai to the beaches of Ventura. On many days you can experience Ojai’s famous pink moments. You can hike the trails above Ojai, boat, eat, or picnic at Lake Casitas. Travel to nearby Ventura to shop, fish the pier, or take a deep sea fishing charter or Island charter to Whale watch or fish around the Channel Islands.
Please note the aerial view of the camping area recently placed by Hipcamp is NOT AT ALL REPRESENTATIVE of the current camping sites and shows a photo that is many years old when the site was merely land.
That photo is without any of the existing amenities or improvements. The actual sites are all Larger than Federal Park and Statepark guidelines, with averages of 20'x30' for campsites and 20'x40' for a long RVCampsite.
We have planted many young trees and continue to plant trees and native shrubs around and near the sites. We have picnic tables, table coverings, fire pits, and camping rugs/footprints. There is also an outdoor shower, a shower tent with hot water, and an upgraded porta-potty with a sink.
Note: During times when high heat is predicted, we strongly recommend that our Hipcampers bring pop-up shade tents or canopies for their sites.
The Hipcamp is adjacent to our working ranch, and any photos of old sheds, trucks, a wood lot, or other equipment are NOT on the Hipcamp, but you will drive past that property to get to the separate Hipcamp area.
Wineries, Farmer's Markets, Craft Breweries, dispensaries, and more are within 10 to 15 minutes of our site. Our location allows moments when you may see Hawks, Owls, Geese, Swallows, Robins, Bluebirds, and more.
We offer both tent and RV camping.

With a total of only 6 campsites, it is a great location for a group to reserve the entire campground. All campsites have potable well water spigots and access to a cool water shower, sites 4, 5, and 6 have 20 amps of electricity. Guests enjoy the privacy while swimming, stream exploring, hiking, spelunking, forest immersion, fishing for wild trout, gold panning, or simply relaxing in a breathtaking environment – come fall in love with this special private ranch. After one stay, you will be a repeat guest.
PLEASE NOTE: A 4-Wheel Drive vehicle or high clearance All-Wheel Drive vehicle is MANDATORY to access campsites 1, 2, and 3 - while strictly 4-wd vehicles are MANDATORY to access sites 5 and 6 due to the road incline and rock and gravel road surface. PLEASE PREPARE ACCORDINGLY. Campsite 4 is accessible with a 2-wd vehicle, and has potable well water and 20 amps of power. Sites have beautiful open views of the property and river canyon with natural shade in the morning and late afternoon. Although shade structures have been constructed at Campsites 1, 3, and 4, the other sites are partially shaded by trees during portions of the day. Consider providing your own additional shade structure(s) as the direct sun can be an inconvenience at each site.
Pets are limited to one large dog OR two small to medium sized dogs per campsite. There is a strict policy that all pet owners pick up waste from their dogs and that dogs be quiet, well-mannered, and under immediate control at all times so as not to disturb other campers. Please be aware that some wildlife species including rattlesnakes, mountain lions, and occasional bear have been observed on the 117-acre property and could potentially be observed near the campsites.
The Ranch's northern portion of the property supports a leased farming operation. Farming operations typically do not interfere with camping activities.

Sunnyland is a VERY REMOTE AND RURAL location. We are an off grid solar homestead. Beautiful redwood grove campsites and views for miles. Stargazing and no light pollution. Meteor showers are the best here! Hiking trails all over the property, hundreds of different wild mushrooms. Bird watching, hearing ravens and hawks right here at our place making for an extra special vibe. We have two very friendly Great Pyrenees, 2 cats, 5 ducks and 10 chickens. Fresh farm eggs available. These animals are all located near the house, and not near the campsites, with the exception of the dogs being known to sleep outside the tents, making campers feel especially safe.

If you are coming from Ukiah, reach out to me there. Or if coming from the coast please reach out to me from Mendocino area since service is very unreliable shortly after both of those towns. Historic Brice Station 100 acres, was a horse stop on the Ebbetts Pass stage line. Horses were fed, watered and swapped here, over 100 years ago. Today, Brice station hosts a ceramics gallery and school, vineyard and tasting room, Blacksmith school, Concert series, Shakespeare performances and Master artist, Michel Olson's, Sierra Circles Sculpture Garden and campground. Born in Berlin, Germany, he has spent much of his life performing, guiding, studying, while travelling and becoming an accomplished artist in wood, stone and iron. Two of his gypsy rigs and several large art installations, are in the meadow next to the forested 6 site campground.

This is a essentially a private campsite with a million dollar view during the day, and wonderful stargazing at night!
We welcome dogs and don't charge additional fees for you to bring your dog(s) to camp. The park allows dogs into the park BUT NOT ON ANY TRAILS! (Only the national “forests” allow dogs on trails, not national parks.) PLEASE, let us know you are bringing dog(s), when you request to book. We currently have 2 dogs - our boy Chance is a 6yo Husky Doberman mix; and we rescued and are fostering a (approx 3yo) Great Dane, Winston! Unfortunately, we can NOT dog sit your dog(s) while you are in the park having 2 large male dogs in our house. Also you can not leave the dog alone in the campsite.
We are in Three Rivers - the southern Ash Mountain gateway to the Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. Our town has some wonderfully unique restaurants, creative shops and even a delicious brewery with seating next to the River!
Our hillside property has great Mountain View’s and the driveway turns directly off of Sierra drive, four miles past the town center (3R post office) and just 2 miles from the Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks entrance. There’s even a convenience store a quarter mile away! It's conveniently located and easy to find! You can (seasonally) hear the tranqual sounds, or all out roar of the flowing Kaweah river from across the street.
Sorry, there is NO river access from this campsite. You can go to Slick Rock Recreation area, Lake Kaweah or into the parks to swim, boat, fish and more. Lake Kaweah is about 8 miles away. You drive around it after you top the hill entering Three Rivers.
My wife Elizabeth and I bought our log home in 2015 and we have been dreaming and adding here ever since! Our dog Chance chases all the fun wildlife off of our property. In addition to deer, we have seen fox, bob cats, an Ocelot, too many coyotes, wild turkeys and bear crossing an animal highway along our upper hillside property line. Hawks, hummingbirds, quail, blue birds, woodpeckers and yellow bellied finches are regularly seen here as well. We have had turkey families coming through frequently recently! Owls have been heard; but not seen.
We love our country home and mountain views, and look forward to sharing them with you!

We rented Adam’s cabins for our Ultimate Frisbee teams retreat! It exceeded our expectations.
Adam’s campground is a whimsical escape tucked into the hills near the Yuba river. During our stay, Adam was easily accessible for any questions we had. He was eager for us to enjoy our stay and made an effort to help us feel at home.
The lower cabins were shaded and stayed cool during the summer heat. All cabins were comfortable and cozy. Our 25 person group fit comfortably among the cabins. We would love to come back!

Our stay at Strange Ranch was one of our favorite camping experiences ever. We tent camped at site #1. The ground was perfect for our setup, and you cannot beat the proximity to the water as it sits right at the top of the stairs that lead straight down to the private river beach. My boys absolutely loved it and swam in the swimming hole for hours! We even explored the mine shaft and did a little bit of gold panning in between with a kit we rented from Terry. No campfires were allowed at our site during our stay because of the fire ban, but the communal fire pit down on the beach more than made up for it. Falling asleep to the sounds of the river was wonderful.
Terry is an awesome, attentive host who takes massive pride in keeping the ranch and shared amenities (like the clean porta-potties, sink for dishes, and cool-water shower) in pristine condition. Communication was exceptional from beginning to end. He’s a wealth of knowledge and a great conversationalist. We will be back!

Give Terry (& Whisky 🐶) their flowers!!! 💐 This was an AMAZING experience - even with some summer heat. The site was as described and coming from campsites with zero amenities, having per-site water hookup was such a game changer! (I would not drink from it tho...its more for 'camp cleaning' 😂)
Terry was amazing, accommodating, friendly, and super helpful. We have a AWD/Tesla Model 3 and for site 1 it was a littttle tricky because of the clearance, but Terry was kind enough to fill in some spots along the path with gravel before we left 😭.
Other lil tidbits:
- The river was *chefs kiss* - very easily accessible
- bathrooms were a little far but very clean
- the newly built awning structure was amazing, but definitely bring another tarp/awning for sundown (which Terry mentioned beforehand so we came prepared!)
- definitely hose down the dirt area with water (as per Terry!) because when other cars drive past Site #1 to their sites downward, the dust is a bit much
- definitely need at least AWD and the more clearance your car has the better!
I wish we got to chat more with Terry and maybe do one of their excursions but we brought our dog so we isolated ourselves a bit.

16 ft pop-up camper

Terry was so kind to share his property with all of us campers. This was our first time using HipCamp and Terry has set the benchmark very high!
He greeted us and then escorted us to our site. We booked site 4 with a 16 foot camper. Terry recommended we back it in. It could be a bit challenging but so worth it. The view was amazing. It’s everything you ever want in a campsite. There was a portable toilet a min away and it was cleaner than most public restrooms we have ever used.
The water access spot is accessed by going down a number of concrete steps and then we are greeted by this beautiful stream with lots of small fish. As you walk across, you can see them swimming around in the water. We planted our camping chairs in the water and relaxed for all of Saturday. We couldn’t have been happier.
On the way home, our kids were already asking when could we come back. And best of all, Terry has an awesome lab named “Whisky”, and our kids are now asking if we could have a Whisky at home too. Thank you so much for having us Terry and allowing us to create great family memories.

Adam has a very nice piece of land, it is a perfect setting for what he has done with it. You get a bit of everything the deep forest to open prairies. The cabins are very rustic, I only saw inside of the Geronimo, however the others appear to be equal in quality. I absolutely loved the group cabins beautiful! ( from the outside of course) If you enjoy just unplugging and being in nature this is where to go. Make sure you do bring bug repellent. Thank you, Adam for sharing your land, with individuals like myself who just need a break from the hustle and bustle.

The Family had a great time camping here. The owners a really sweet, they helped us with directions and how far certain landmarks are. Site 8 is very private which was great for our 1 year old. Blackberries surrounded our campsite and you could hear the water from the creek. I did get bit by a wasp as we were leaving. Just a reminder that we are in their natural grounds. Would definitely stay again. Would like to try site 9 next time because of the easy access to the creek.

We loved camping here even though the temps were in triple digits! The site was perfect for our needs. We loved grilling out and utilizing the picnic table. The bathroom was very nice to have (with a flushing toilet!!!!). I also enjoyed a nice shower after a dip in the river near by. We would definitely camp here again if we were in the area.

Amber's property was exactly what we needed for our first car-camping experience! It was also a great getaway from the hustle and bustle - a chance to decompress and chill under the oaks and stars! Everything we might need for support was available - and we availed ourselves of several items that made our stay much smoother. Relatively close to Santa Barbara - but far enough away to truly allow for a much-needed disconnect!

I loved it there, spots are huge for such a good price, bathrooms are really clean, staff is really nice, the animals, goats, dog, donkey, horse are really fun. Also gorgeous views! I was worried due to mixed reviews but we had a great experience

My kiddos (4 and 7) and I spent a couple nights at Strange Ranch and it was a great time. Terry really made everything so welcoming and easy to find. We stayed at Campsite #4, which is the only 2WD accessible site. This is not understatement. I took a wrong turn and while driving down the road I was not supposed to go was fine, it was the getting out that was the challenge. Well, Thanks to Terry coming and assisting me and my girls by towing us with his pickup back up the hill. WHICH WAS SO KIND. He was so patient the entire time.
Campsite #4 was PERFECT. It got a little warm in the afternoon but with plenty of shade and a breeze it was relaxing. My girls had such a fun time, the campsite was very private and a little secluded, so they could just run and jump and play with dirt and mud. Riker, my doggo, had a great time. Met many dogs, played with them and even met Terry's dog Whiskey. Pretty sure that made Riker's trip.
I would definitely go back here. Solo or with kids/friend. Swimming hole was great and while a walk down, was not too difficult. My kids disagreed, after carrying them both of the hill once and back down. Terry came down to the swimming hole and was hanging out and gave the girls, Riker and I a lift back to camp. Which the girls just SQUEALED in excitement.
oh access to water and a little power and a VERY CLEAN porta potty, garbage and recycling. OH the firewood was/is worth it. 2-3 nights worth. Hope to go back soon.

We had a fantastic experience at Bigfoot Campground! The campground was clean, peaceful, and very well maintained. The manager was absolutely amazing friendly, professional, and always willing to help with anything we needed. You can tell they genuinely care about their guests and take pride in keeping the campground in great shape. They made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. We had a wonderful stay and will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend Bigfoot Campground to anyone looking for a great camping experience!

What an awesome location! This was mine and my wife's first time at this campsite and we absolutely loved it! We'd definitely book again and come back and bring more friends to enjoy this location. We were camped at the Oak Grove Communal area, lots of space to roam around, restroom was nice and clean. There's a shower but the hot water function didnt work but it was still nice to have a shower at camp. Definitely must try!

Hilltop Hideout had absolutely beautiful views!! Tent camped on top pad with plenty of room. Lower pad would be okay for you to a mid sized rig. Very private site, only about 3-4 minute walk to flush toilets. Everyone was very friendly. Host was quick to reply to a message. VERY dog-friendly property. Fun hiking & farm animal encounters. The guardian dogs are very sweet too.
