Ascension Ranch is an off-grid paradise with a unique and ever growing list of features and activities. Family owned and operated, we want to be that breath of fresh air from the hustle and bustle of day-to-day life that everyone needs. With a serene environment, a healthy mix of farm animals, and good old fashion ranch activities, there's a little bit of something for everyone to enjoy. Some of the things you'll come across at Ascension Ranch include baby farm animals, sheep, goats, cattle, horses, ranch dogs, chickens, equestrian activities, hiking, biking, camping, archery, lake activities, amazing views, access to endless trails around Folsom Lake, grass-fed meats, fresh produce and of course, good company. Staying on the ranch can be as social, or as rural as guests choose. Camp alone, or bring others, whether it be your 4-legged companions or friends and family, we welcome all campers who respect and enjoy the great outdoors as much as we do.

Hold your HORSES!
Pros: -Horses were cute and friendly (they didn’t come to our site at all, but we saw them around & went to visit them) -3 ranch dogs came to our site, also very cute and friendly -Short lake trail takes you to a nice little spot on Lake Folsom -Nice hosts, good communication -Huge picnic table at the site Cons: -Very hot with little to no shade at the site (the trees in the photos are mostly around the site, not within it) -No campfire due to fire ban (not the hosts’ fault, but FYI it seems the county bans campfires every summer) -Toilets were so far away, we had to drive to them -Only 1, maybe 2, good tent spots To sum it up, we had a fun weekend here, but I'm not sure I would recommend this site during the summer. It was just so hot and there was no shade over the picnic table or the best tent spot, so you really need at least one easy up/canopy tent. The listing was confusing/vague on important details such as whether propane camping stoves are allowed during a fire ban (they are) and the parking situation (you can bring ONE car for free & the 2nd costs an extra $15). I also would have liked to know just how far away the toilets were before booking. However, the hosts were extremely nice and responded quickly to questions, which I appreciated. We did have a really fun time down at the lake and being around the horses was a fun and interesting experience as well.

Camping with horses!
The camp host was very accommodating when I needed to reschedule my stay. They were very responsive and friendly. We enjoyed the property and even went on a nice horseback ride. The horses were very gentle and the instructor went out of her way to give my kids extra attention and time for learning how to ride. They have two big friendly dogs that wonder around. Horses do free roam so we could pet and hang out with them the whole time. Very cool if you like horses. The camp sites are huge, well spaced apart and the lake was easily accessible. Perfect swimming spot and the fishing was great!

Lovely Spot to Camp!
We had a wonderful time swimming by the campsite and enjoying the animals on the ranch. Ji, Laurie, Kelly and Mia were all wonderful and oh so hospitable and our daughters got to take a ride on the horses. Wonderful experience all around.

We had such a great experience at Ascension Ranch! The campsite was comfortable and it was a quick walk to the lake. The host and dogs were warm and welcoming. The dogs walked with us and hung out happily with our dog a bit in the evening. Wish we could’ve stayed longer.
