I would like to thank our many campers who came down from Canada and around the world to visit our small tract of tranquility.
We are a one hundred year old family owned farm with an organic garden, Permaculture garden, an apiary, and Christmas trees on six acres. We have horseshoes, tether ball, a small library and disc golf. Early spring the frogs go crazy later followed by the sounds of nesting birds. Fall is the season for migrating birds that rest at the ponds next door. August is the time to fill up on blackberries. There are individual campsites with a barbecue and picnic table and a shared fire pit. The fire pit didn't see much use last two years because of the fire danger so we have moved it to an open area that will be safer and hopefully be open longer, there is also an area at each campsite if you want to bring a propane fire ring (or we will have some for rent). I want to thank past campers for their suggestions, they have been tremendously valuable. We are becoming increasingly suburban and there is some road noise that can be heard and even with farms on three sides of us, you still might hear our neighbors in the distance. Campsites one and four are across the road from each other and campsites two and three are adjacent to each other, perfect if you have another family traveling with you. The Washington State Fair is 3.9 miles/ 13 minutes away, Tacoma Dome 7.5 miles/ 18 minutes, Point Defiance Park Zoo and Aquarium 19 miles/ 30 minutes and Wild Waves water park is 15 miles/ 26 minutes away. Eagles, hawks and Ospreys are frequent visitors to our property.

A little about Orting - Nestled in the foothills of Mt Rainier between the Puyallup and Carbon Rivers, Orting is a quaint Turn-of-the-Century village that you will not forget.
The town center is anchored by three parks filled with giant maples and evergreens. You will be awed by the view of Mt. Rainier from Washington Avenue.
The levees on the east and west sides of town are perfect for hikes along the rivers. The 20 mile Foothills Trail meanders right through the middle of town and then takes you along the Carbon River levee. Bike, walk, take the stroller and the family pet. Enjoy the turn-of-the-century architecture of downtown and eat at one of the 15 restaurants.
If your timing is right you can take part in the Daffodil festival and parade the first Saturday of April. The Kingsmen Car show comes to town the third Saturday in June. Then there is the Pumpkin festival the second weekend of October. Finally the year is capped off with the Christmas festival throughout December. Then there are the many foot and bike races that take place on the foothills trail throughout the year.

We have noticed an influx of owners that do not let us know and show up with dogs as we need to go over additional information. There is no additional fee but since we have livestock roaming freely around the property, to ensure their safety, long leads are highly encouraged especially if dogs do not have exceptional recall. -There is a communal bunkhouse on property available to guests with a flushable toilet and a hot water shower. It also includes a kitchenette and we welcome you to use any of the kitchen/cookware and appliances. Our 2 Frenchies also stay in this building but they love humans and all the attention you can give them!
-There is an infrared sauna that can sit up to 3 people located next to the yurt accompanied by a cold plunge as an add-on.
-You are welcome to wander around the entire property and grab fruit daily from the trees when in season or have us get you farm fresh eggs from the coop to eat for breakfast.
-Say hello to the animals (sheep, goats, chickens, cats and dogs) or go for a walk/run around the countryside roads with walking/running/biking adventures available to you along the beautiful and paved Foothills Trail extending from Enumclaw to Puyallup.
-Communal fire pit areas with picnic table and chairs available when fire ban is not in effect. We have a moveable metal one which we can transport to your camp spot if preferred. We sell a milkcrate full of wood for $10 if needed.

There is no outdoor music at any time. Quiet hours are 8 pm to 10 am.
There is no picnic table or any amenities, but you can fill up water at our barn if needed.
DO NOT USE THE WOODS AS A BATHROOM. It is necessary to bring your own latrine.
The water at (shallower) Dockton Park (about a 6 min drive away) gets warm from swimming in summer if you prefer it to 54 degree deep water here!
Please clean up after your pet. Dogs must be leashed AT ALL TIMES in the field. If no one is around at the beach, they can be off leash, but leash up if anyone approaches until they pass. Please never leave your dog unattended outside where barking will disturb the peace.

Grit & Grace is a 2 acre property with a manufactured home and shop on site. It is very peaceful and quiet! Forested areas surround the property and you may often spot a deer roaming the property. It is a perfect spot to park your RV for a night or two.
Mt. Rainier and Crystal Mountain Ski Resort are close by. The White River Amphitheater is a great concert venue and is a 7 minute drive! The quaint city of Enumclaw offers nice dining, shopping and outdoor venues to sip wine or beer. There are several state parks and rivers near by as well. You will love your stay at Grit & Grace.

We had the best weekend camping on this beautiful farm! The campsite was super spacious and the view over the meadow at sunset was just amazing. We spent two perfect evenings by the fire making s’mores and relaxing under the stars.
Our kids absolutely loved helping feed the goats, and we felt so welcome by Jenel and Khohay. It is a special little getaway where everyone could slow down and enjoy nature.
We’d happily come back anytime — highly recommend this place!

Me, the family and our friends really enjoyed camping at this spot. We had a blast in the lake with the kayaks, pedal boat and floaties we brought. The string lights gave lovely ambiance and we got to use some of the provided firewood for camp fires every night. The spot was a little busy as it is next to the boat launch but that didn’t bother us very much. Outhouse was clean. We would recommend this spot!

We had such a wonderful time at Khohay Farm. The place is so peaceful, well maintained, and truly feels like an escape from busy life into a fairytale farm. The creek sound near the tent, the privacy, and the happy animals walking around made it extra special. Jene and Khohay are incredibly friendly and kind. They even arranged flowers for my birthday, which made our stay even more special. Thank you for creating such a lovely place, and just keep doing what you do. We will definitely come back. ❤️

We loved dry camping on Lisa’s property. The site was a small
field that overlooked Poverty Bay with a amazing view of Mt Rainier. Well maintained! We were the only one’s there, so we picked a great spot for RV right at overlook. Access to beach was great! Everything was awesome!! Downside for a large RV: it cost $141 to get on island. Free to take RV back to mainland. $7 per adult to take water taxi to Seattle; another $7 to return. Also it’s about as far south on the island as you can go and it was difficult finding a ride share to take us to ferry to go to Seattle. No Ubers or Lyft drivers on island. There are however, several individuals that will drive folks around. Bus only travels so far. Really appreciative of Lisa and her letting us spend two nights on her property. One of our favs!

Weekend Trip to The Khohay Farm
Jenel and Khohay are so so sweet. And their little cabin was the perfect weekend getaway for me to relax and enjoy some alone time. The farm fresh eggs were yummy and I loved staring out the back of the deck on the sheep’s and goats roaming around the property while listening to the gentle babble of the brook. The space might be tight for two people, especially in the winter if it’s cold and you don’t want to be on the deck which functions as an extended living space.

We had an amazing stay at Better to Wake at the Lake on Tanwax!! We can’t wait to come back! We had all kinds of weather and it was still a blast. The private lakefront setup was peaceful, relaxing and perfect for a getaway. Having our own private dock made it so easy to fish and just enjoy the views & wild life.
The property is perfect for RV and tent camping. It is beautiful and well taken care of. The outdoor restroom was a huge bonus and was cute and very clean.
Even though we didn’t use the kayaks and paddle boat it was so nice to have the option.
Joel was the best to work with and I really appreciate all his communication.
If you’re looking for a private, relaxing lakeside camping experience with great amenities and beautiful views, this place is absolutely worth it!

We car camped with a tent for 2 nights. The spot is gorgeous. Huge ferns, trees, deer, and an eagle greeted us. There is no table or toilet, but we brought our own. We liked the ease of travel from Seattle and having town close by while also feeling like we had our privacy. We’d love to stay here again.
