Badminton and cornhole available on request. Family get-togethers or birthday parties are welcome! We are located just 1.5 miles from The Banks-Vernonia Trail. Bike campers are welcome! Feel free to bring along your 4-legged friends as well. We do not have a fence, so if you do not trust your dog of a leash, please keep them tied up. We have a lot of deer that pass through and untrained dogs love chasing them. Banks has a few restaurants to choose from: Subway, Dairy Queen, Main Street Pizza, Mary's Mexican Food, Hop-Cycle Brewing to name a few. There is also a Supermarket in town just in case you forgot your S'mores supplies, Spirits, or campfire wood. Hagg lake, Horning's Hideout, Dorman's Pond and the Wilson River are all popular spots. We have clean well water and 50A electrical hookups. We do not offer dumping of black water, but you can empty your tank at the Elks club in Forest Grove (25-minute drive) for free or Camping World over in Hillsboro. The parking area for RV's is fairly level and easy to get in and out of. During the late summer, our 5 apple trees produce great fruit. We also have 2 plum trees, and some blackberries. Feel free to pick what you would like. Currently, we do not have any public bathroom facilities available for campers, so please plan accordingly. Please, only book if you have an RV with working plumbing. **We will not accept tent campers** Please feel free to ask me any questions, we are willing to make accommodations for special situations/events if possible!

My desire to provide charm and delight has driven most of the details that also includes a pergola that has a swinging twin bed and chairs to gather and chat. There is gorgeous outdoor lighting for at night and hanging chandelier at night surrounded in the deep of summer with mature jasmine bushes that waft their sweet scent from May into September. To turn on the shower, refer to the photos or watch a video here - https://bit.ly/3WNoheG There is an outdoor fridge in the garden for your use and we provide beverages and creamer for coffee or tea provided in the room for your enjoyment. There is a fan provided in summer and a heater provided in the Spring and Fall for the room evenings can be a bit crisp so you can customize your temperature to your comfort level.

We also are located for easy access to local summer attractions, wineries, restaurants etc. Campfires and book reading have been very popular here at Bear Hollow! Our campsite has a compostable toilet, potable water, picnic table, and allows campfires (outside of a burn ban). We are pet friendly. You must keep your pet with you and on leash or lead. You can purchase firewood from us as well. Our guests love staying here: " Bear Hollow is a special place. Valerie and George are sweet and gracious hosts. It is a privilege for the rest of us that they offer this heavenly bit of planet earth for the rest of us to enjoy. Clearly a labor of love, the grounds are well maintained and spectacular. I honestly can not put in words how much I enjoyed my time here. I am already looking forward to my next stay. Many sincere thanks to the Bears for offering up this magnificent hollow for Hipcampers to experience in all of its splendor."

offering up an area on our property for clean, friendly, quiet campers that want to get out of the city and enjoy some peace and quiet. We are located in Banks, Oregon. We are approximately 45 minutes west of downtown Portland. Our camping area is about 5 acres and offers something for everyone. If you have a large RV and need a safe and quiet spot to stay for the night, we got you. We have a large fire pit, Adirondak chairs, a large picnic table, and a swing set for the kids. We are about 20 minutes away from McMenamins Grand Lodge, in Forest Grove, which hosts some great live concerts during the summer. We have a few fishing spots within about 30 minutes of the property. I don't mind if you drain your gray water on the property as long as you use a longer hose to keep it away from the immediate camping area.

Camping near Hillsboro guide

Where to go

L.L. Stub Stewart State Park

A half-hour drive from Hillsboro, L.L. Stub Stewart State Park offers nearly 30 miles of trails and great night-sky views. It's popular among day trippers, who come here to hike, picnic, mountain bike, and ride horses, but plenty of people choose to stay the night in one of the on-site cabins or campsites.

The Oregon Coast

Hillsboro is a little over an hour away from the Oregon Coast via the Sunset Highway (26W), which crosses over the densely wooded Coastal Range, ultimately connecting with US 101. There are plenty of stops to stop and hike along the way, from Saddle Mountain just inland from the coast and Ecola State Park near Cannon Beach. There are also tons of state park-run campgrounds up and down the Oregon Coast, many of which offer tent and RV camping plus full hookups.

The Willamette Valley Wine Country

While Hillsboro has a few small wineries of its own, you'll find a denser concentration of wine-tasting options by heading a bit further south, either via Yamhill and Carlton on Highway 47 or by taking Highway 99W to Newberg and onwards to McMinnville. The Willamette Valley has about two-thirds of Oregon's wineries and is celebrated for its bold Pinots Noirs.

When to go

You'll get the best weather in Hillsboro if you visit between July and September, when the temperatures are generally warm and the chance of rainfall is slim. The rest of the year gets cold and rainy, and while spring and fall do get some pleasant days, it’s hard to gauge when they will be. While the area doesn’t get much snow, freezing rain is a major issue that can lead to dangerously slick roads.
