Twisted Tree Camp s a 13 acre property about 5 miles north of Long Beach, Washington. The property is long and skinny, we have built road that accesses the back of the property. The campsite is in the middle of the woods, you can wake up to many birds singing and no neighbors in sight. In the evening you can listen to the frogs singing while you stare at th campfire. The road winds thru the trees and this is not suitable for vehicles longer than 23 feet or wider than 8 feet. There are multiple twisted trees along the road as you drive in to the campsite. We have recently built the road to the campsite at the back of the land so there is still evidence of recent construction along the road. There are two cameras on site - one at the entrance along Pacific Way and one by the campsite at the end of the road. Cameras are there to monitor the site after hipcampers have left and will not be on while campers have rented the space. Nearby there is SnowPeak Campfield that has a sauna and hot tub. There are many restaurants and public beaches to experience. During the summer there are numerous events like the kite festival, sandcastle festival, Rod Run and others.

Nice, well cared for campsite. It is right by a street though and not very secluded. It worked for what we needed. The volley ball net was really great to have, the kids loved it.

Looking west at Riverside Camp. The portable toilet can be seen in the upper right corner, a short walk away from the site. Parking for 3-4 vehicles is near the toilet; 2 cars are allowed near the tent site.

I absolutely loved my stay. The highlights were definitely the lovely and peaceful scenery and the fact there was a stocked and clean porta potty. Very clear and easy directions to the site, I had no issues at all! The site was so nice and perfect for small or large groups. I would absolutely camp here again!

Weekend Trip to Timber Ridge Ranch @ Falcon Cove

This campsite has a spectacular view! And excellent proximity to Short Sand Beach and Cape Falcon. Upper Falcon Cove is not marked, but easy to find if you look at the map. There is a large white gate to open. Check out the old growth trees right past the gate! My AWD made it just fine. Site would be a tight fit for more than 2 vehicles. If you have trouble, call Travis on his cell. He is an attentive host.

We tent camped at the Tidal Inlet site. Marlisa and her family have been stewards of the land since the 1800s! It's evident that they care. All shared facilities were very clean, the site was neatly mown with a picnic table and sitting areas, and it felt very private and quiet. Do make sure you have bug spray on hand (which is to be expected next to a creek). We also loved getting to walk the wetland area in the morning. Definitely would stay here again! 💚

About

Occupying the site of a former military fort, Fort Stevens State Park is ideal for those interested in both history and spending time in the great outdoors. Spread out over 4,300 acres, the park offers 15 miles of hiking and cycling trails, a disc golf course, a military museum, and an underground gun battery used during World War II. A freshwater lake is prime for swimming, as is an ocean beach, complete with the remains of the Peter Iredale shipwreck. Fort Stevens State Park Campground is among the largest in the United States, with hundreds of campsites, as well as yurts, cabins, and hot showers.

Tips for snagging a campsite

Campsite slots are released at 6am, six months in advance, and can be reserved using the Oregon State Parks online reservation system.
Last-minute reservations due to cancellations can sometimes be made by contacting the park directly.
Summer weekends book out well in advance. If possible, start planning for summer weekends in winter. This is especially important if you’re looking to snag one of the 11 cabins or 15 yurts

When to go

Fort Stevens is open all year long and at its busiest in the summer months. If you want to avoid crowds but still take advantage of pleasant weather, consider coming in September, once kids are back in school. For the best whale-watching, visit from mid-December through mid-January or from late March until May.

Know before you go

The closest place to buy food and supplies is in the town of Warrenton, a seven-minute drive away, while the Victorian city of Astoria takes about 20 minutes to reach by car.
Eight cabins and 10 yurts are suitable for wheelchair users.
Pets are welcome, and some yurts and cabins are pet-friendly.
Oregon Coast temperatures are generally much cooler than in the rest of the state, even at the peak of summer. Bring rain gear and extra layers.
All sites have fire pits, and firewood is sold at the campground. It’s best to avoid bringing wood from elsewhere to protect the area from invasive insects and disease.
