Reconnect with nature and escape the heat on our 28 acre filbert orchard, better known as hazelnuts. On hot summer days you’ll find the temperature under the orchard canopy almost 10 degrees cooler at the heat of the day. Feel free to roam the orchard, play a little hide and seek, hang up a hammock, or bring a blanket and picnic. Within walking or bicycle distance are fantastic amenities including Aurora Colony Vineyards, Pheasant Run Tasting room (Friday summer concerts), Aurora Colony Pub (acoustic Thursday), Filbert Farmhouse Restaurant, White Rabbit Bakery, Aurora Healing Gardens-psilocybin experience (advanced reservation required), a local park and lots of antique stores. Within driving distance are tons of wineries, breweries, distilleries and the Woodburn Outlet Mall. Here to visit wine country? Welcome campers! This site is perfect for tent and car camping. For roof top tents, you may want to be in our old growth orchard sites 1-9 for shade and privacy. You will have a designated parking space between a row of Hazelnut Trees (16ft total length enough for a passenger vehicle). Feel free to pitch a tent in any comfortable spot nearby. These sites are by reservation only and will be reserved for you to arrive anytime during the length of your reservation. Your site will have a picnic table and a firepit, with firewood available for sale onsite (when not too dry). We usually have a burn ban that starts sometime in July and goes until the fall rain. We do allow propane fireplaces and stoves year-round. There are a few hammocks available for use when on property. We have 3 flushing toilets, an enclosed shower, and an outdoor shower. The outdoor shower has 3 walls, a curtain, and the best view of any shower nearby! Note that these toilets see heavy use Saturdays and Sundays from 7:30-9:30am. The orchard is beautiful and the sites are spaced out enough to feel like you have some privacy from other campers unlike state parks. The bathrooms were clean and in good working order. I was there early so the outdoor shower was wonderful but I probably wouldn’t want to shower if more people were there as there is no way to really show it’s occupied and have privacy with the curtain. I recommend at least adding hooks to keep the curtain closed if it’s open to men and women. Having the animals around also made the stay fun. I enjoyed checking out the goats! As a solo female camper, I felt very comfortable and safe here!

We loved everything about our camping experience at Shane's lands - easy to find, shade and privacy amongst the trees, clean bathrooms, and honestly feeding the goats and horses was our favorite part. There is a little traffic noise from the road and one loud airplane at night, but it was such a cute and quaint spot we would definitely recommend it.

I loved the idea of camping in a Hazelnut orchard. It was shady and pleasant. The owners have worked hard to accommodate campers and we found 3 flush toilets and a shower. However I was not able to get hot water out of the shower. Since we visited over the Memorial Day weekend, more than 2/3 of the 16 sites were occupied, and there were too many people for 3 toilets. It sounds like it is more common for fewer campers to be present, so I imagine that normally this would not be an issue. The location was good - a few minutes drive from Aurora and perhaps 20 minutes from SW Portland.

This location can’t be beat in Aurora for peace, proximity, and price. The filbert orchard was a beautiful place to spend the night on our roadtrip, and the outdoor warm shower and flushing toilets were an amazing bonus we hadn’t expected (even though they’re listed in the amenities.) It is close-in enough that we rode our bikes to the downtown area, which had great antiquing. Shane was a very accommodating and responsive host and allowed us a late checkout because no one was coming in behind us. Would stay again.

My adventure partner, David and I experienced a tranquil stay nestled among the Filbert trees at Shane's orchard. Our camper van fit perfectly between rows of orchard trees. Peaceful. Private. Quiet. We took advantage of the portable fire pit to make homemade pizza in a dutch oven. Close to wine country. Highly recommend.

Such a beautiful spot, exceeded our expectations. Sleeping among the hazelnut trees listening to the crickets was magic. The best part was the outdoor shower. Clean bathrooms with flushing toilets too. Friendly hosts and quiet area. There were fire pits for most of the spots too but out of wood so recommend bringing your own. Couldn’t have asked for a better stay! Highly recommend.

Great location and a quick to get to from Portland for a night away! Only thing I would change are having fire pits for every site, which was a bummer we didn’t get one. But great location, good bathroom/ shower amenities, and you’re able to move your camp spot around to not be too close to any neighbors. Site 1 is the closest to the road, so a little noisy but very manageable. Would definitely recommend, it’s a great built up HipCamp.

Site 16 Orchard Dispersed Camping
I have stayed at this place twice and had an amazing experience both times! It is only a 20 minute drive from wooden shoe tulip fields too if that’s of interest!
