If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
Dean and Darlene were relatively friendly at first, but communicating with them in-person and over text was difficult. Within 5 minutes of arriving, Dean let us know that he had a gun and joked about using it. Dean and Darlene imposed new rules that were not stated in the hipcamp page, and were staying in a camper van very close by, which was not noted on the hipcamp page, either. Not our best experience with hosts.
D&D’s place is uniquely fantastic. Picture a human abode on Mars - rocky and strange, suddenly interrupted by trees, grass, and water flowing through slabs of brown and reddish stone, and falling off a cliff into a lake. The special story and tremendous work that has gone into their land are only matched by the generosity with which Dean and Darlene share it. We had a relaxing couple of nights. The water park in front is great fun with kids. Because the place is on the edge of the town, you will hear the road nearby. Yet, it is absolutely great and magical, quiet, superbly maintained, never crowded, and the hosts are simply wonderful. We look forward to coming back many times. Thank you so much, D&D!
What Darlene & Dean have done with this once forgotten quarry in such a short amount of time is nothing short of astounding. Fantastic hosts & beautiful views. An amazing experience!
Quarry view: a must visit camp site
I typically prefer more secluded camping. Quarry View has options for both secluded and non secluded , I can see this being a great option for so many types of campers who are looking for access to amenities like water and bathrooms and even electrical hookups. Dean was so nice to offer us to use his clean air generator that kept all of our electrical items charged the whole 2 days and two nights we were there. The campground was beautiful and very welcoming. Everything is here you name it. From the river, the frog pond and to the sounds of the waterfalls Dene and Darlene are actually some of the nicest people i have ever met. They are nothing short of kind and amazing. We even had two small children with us and they absolutely loved it for a small little summer vacation. The kids loved the frog pond. make sure to look through all of the photos! This is a local private owned and operated campground.” Very Peaceful and perfect for setting up a tent and cooking outdoors. Please, everyone, sincerely and truthfully want anyone who loves camping to visit this place. Even those who are new to camping will love it. Just do it. Quarry View is the one you want.
Perfect camping site!
This place is heaven on earth! It's so beautiful, well organized, and even inspiring. Every corner of this property is thoughtful and made with great care and good taste.
Darlene and Dean were very attentive, everything we needed was there before we asked. They are both so nice and have such a smile on their face that it's contagious.
The drum circle is a beautiful event. Our son joined and stayed until the last person left.
Good vibes are everywhere there.
We can't wait to come back!
Awesome private camping location
What a wonderful and magical place. Everything was perfect for our private camping adventure. Dean and Darlene were very accommodating. This is a great scenic place to go camping. It's safe and affordable as well as very interesting.
Staying at Quarry View was a great experience, especially for a first time camper! Stayed at site 3, which is decently private and has a lovely view of the quarry. Dean was very welcoming and lit an amazing fire for us at night. Each site has it's own portapotty which was very clean, hand sanitizer on the side too. We happened to be there on the day of a drum circle as well, it was a fun experience.
We had a good time and the owners were very present during our stay. It is a newer campsite so next season it may be very different. Please note it is a historic landmark so there were a tour groups throughout the day. Dean made sure everyone had what they needed which meant the construction vechicles were being used during the day. I'll be back.
More than one thumbs up
This campground is so good that the review system on hipcamp doesn’t do it justice. It doesn’t deserve one thumbs up but several. (I needed two hands for all the thumbs ups I wanted to give)
Dean and Darlene somehow managed to recycle an unused pile of trash that was once a rock quarry into art. It’s really spectacular. Do yourself a favor and check it out.
