When he wanted to sell his property he offered it to us for purchase at a fair price if we would not develop more than we needed to live here.
We maintained the meadow adjacent to our property and have kept it as an agricultural site.
We have had our son develop an edible forest garden and a unique diversified small orchard so we can eat and share healthy organic fruits and vegetables while helping our environment and wildlife and educating others to do the same.
It is expensive to live in Newtown but we love our property.
We want to teach others to grow food from their land while helping to support us keeping our adjacent property agricultural and undeveloped.
Our property has provided many happy gatherings and events and we love to share it with others.

You can enjoy exploring, and examining our 7 year permacultuire food forest with chestnut seedlings already tall enough to climb , 10-foot hazels bearing buckets of nuts and a different selection of raspberries, blackberries, gooseberry, currents, golden berries, service berries and Mulberries. Enjoy a stroll through the meadow trail to breath in morning views and evening fireflies and stars. This camp area is very private but household amenities are not far away if desired. This site is much more private than Mickelberry Forest Garden Site and the beautiful mountain view is only a small step away. The Creamery (Ferris Acres) is one of the best farm ice cream shops in the East. As a family farm we produce a wide variety of items on our property. Depending on the season, these items may include lamb, pork, produce, eggs, syrup, honey, etc… They can be purchased in advance or when onsite (subject to availability), we always recommend letting us know in advance if you are interested in something in particular so we can do our best to accommodate as we do sell out of items from time to time.
The property features numerous hiking trails though fields and woods, a pond for swimming, boating, and excellent private fishing areas in the pond and brook; Fishing is catch and release only on the farm property. Barbless hooks are required (you can file them off, let us know we can help). Adults are fly rod only, Kids are fly or spinning rod. No is license required for the pond. The Brook requires an CT state fishing license and trout stamp to fish. Never fly fished... don't worry we can help. Check out addons below.

Unique property where you must be physically fit to access the slope that leads down to the river. It is steep and can be dangerous. Life vests are provided and must be worn when kayaking. No beginner kayakers! This is not the place to learn how to kayak on a river, so please be honest with yourself, as the river can get rough. No fires allowed other than the gas fire table on the patio. Gas grill provided for outdoor barbecuing.
The in-law apartment is also 13 miles from Mohegan Sun Casino with numerous shops, gambling, restaurants and concerts year-round. Foxwoods casino is about 15 miles away as well.
We are about 30 miles from the ocean. Beautiful towns such as Old Saybrook, Mystic, Stonington, Essex and Niantic are just a few local towns worth discovering.

-Biscuit's Back Bay: Lower backyard- requires driving down a hill to flat pad to park and then up the hill to depart
-Mapleton Ridge: Upper section of backyard before the hill
We are working on building an outhouse to accommodate tent and car campers. In the meantime you are welcome to #1 in the woods, but #2 will have to wait until you are at a local restaurant or other venue!

We do provide 5 gallons drinking / cleaning water, but during the winter no sinks or showers are operable.
Nearby towns (Kent, CT / Wassaic, NY) have awesome art, shopping and plenty of food options as well as easy access to the Appalachian trail and Macedonia state park.
15 minutes from the Wassaic metro north station, the cabin can be reach by taxi. The cabin is accessible by car, but may require a short hike in after heavy rain or snow.

As a family farm we produce a wide variety of items on our property. Depending on the season, these items may include lamb, pork, produce, eggs, syrup, honey, etc… They can be purchased in advance or when onsite (subject to availability), we always recommend letting us know in advance if you are interested in something in particular so we can do our best to accommodate as we do sell out of items from time to time.
The property features numerous hiking trails though fields and woods, a pond for swimming, boating, and excellent private fishing areas in the pond and brook; Fishing is catch and release only on the farm property. Barbless hooks are required (you can file them off, let us know we can help). Adults are fly rod only, Kids are fly or spinning rod. No is license required for the pond. The Brook requires an CT state fishing license and trout stamp to fish. Never fly fished... don't worry we can help. Check out addons below.

Pachaug is derived from the Indian term meaning bend or turn in the river. Unsurprisingly, the Pachaug River is one twisty son-of-a…headwater, probably. Anyways, this makes for excellent boating and the fish seem to like it too, if you catch our drift. And why wouldn’t they? This place is something else.

Natchaug State Forest is the scene of a wonderful fairytale. Once upon a time, there were two rivers that couldn’t stand to be apart. Finally, when it seemed like things would never change, they joined together in a beautiful forest in Connecticut and flowed happily ever after. At least that’s what we like to think.
In Natchaug Forest is where the Bigelow and Still Rivers join to form the Natchaug River, and the scenery here really isn’t far off from something in a fairytale. Just outside your door is a covered patio that overlooks the river, with a gas fire pit, dining table, grill, couch, lounge chairs and a hammock. Walk down the steep slope to access the river or to hike the almost 5 acres of land on the river. (make sure during summer months you have tick spray when hiking). Unique property where you must be physically fit to access the slope that leads down to the river. It is steep and can be dangerous. Life vests are provided and must be worn when kayaking. No beginner kayakers! This is not the place to learn how to kayak on a river, so please be honest with yourself, as the river can get rough. No fires allowed other than the gas fire table on the patio. Gas grill provided for outdoor barbecuing.
The in-law apartment is also 13 miles from Mohegan Sun Casino with numerous shops, gambling, restaurants and concerts year-round. Foxwoods casino is about 15 miles away as well.
We are about 30 miles from the ocean. Beautiful towns such as Old Saybrook, Mystic, Stonington, Essex and Niantic are just a few local towns worth discovering.

In a former life, I owned a hostel with shared bunk and private cabin accomodation in the North Cascades of Washington State. I love hosting guests of all kinds and from all places!
We are located just minutes from Agawam MA, The Big E, Six Flags New England, Springfield MA, MGM Casino, Enfield, CT, Suffield Academy, and Bradley International Airport. We are about 35 minutes to Hartford, CT.
We have a huge backyard with two spots for RVs or camper vans that have self contained toilet facilities :
-Biscuit's Back Bay: Lower backyard- requires driving down a hill to flat pad to park and then up the hill to depart
-Mapleton Ridge: Upper section of backyard before the hill
We are working on building an outhouse to accommodate tent and car campers. In the meantime you are welcome to #1 in the woods, but #2 will have to wait until you are at a local restaurant or other venue!

As it happens, it's a 12+ acre lot surrounded by wetlands, hiking and biking trails ... there will never be another building built within view of our facility.
We are surrounded by nature, and will be forever.

1 night at Water Forest Retreat
I had an incredible time at this glamping treehouse—it was truly a special experience. The host clearly thought of everything and provided an amazing, well-planned stay from start to finish. I already can’t wait to come back in the summer.
That said, this was also an excellent winter camping trip. The treehouse stayed toasty warm all night, even with outside temperatures dropping into the low 20s and strong winds. We woke up to an unexpected 3–4 inches of snow, made a fire, and cooked chocolate chip pancakes with hot coffee—it was absolutely incredible.
The hosts are great people, the experience was unforgettable, and I highly recommend this stay to anyone looking for something unique and memorable.

Weekend Trip to Glamping with the Wild Horses
We had an amazing time! When we got there we were greeted by Jody & she was AMAZING! She helped us get settled in and made sure we knew that if there was anything we needed we could call her. The beds were incredibly comfortable, it downpoured so hard for most of the night and the dome was great! It didn’t let a single drop of rain in. There’s a wood stove in the dome and it was enough to keep us toasty warm even though it was in the low 30’s, they also provide tons of warm comfy blankets. There was plenty of wood chopped right outside the domes so if you run out it’s very close. We were able to go and help feed the herd and had the opportunity to give plenty of scratches! In the morning we booked the hike with the horses with Tatianna & Chris which was amazing! We were actually in the areas with the gorgeous herd and were able to get hands on again! I honestly could go on all night talking about how amazing it was but in my opinion the very best part of everything was the fact that every single cent that I spent while we were there went right back into caring for and maintaining the herd. When I was looking for a place to go that’s what sealed the deal and made the decision to pick this place very easy!! I highly HIGHLY recommend checking it out for yourself, you won’t be disappointed!

I enjoyed my peaceful camping spot on Jessica's lovely land. There was plenty of firewood, if needed. I did not get to meet my host in person, but Jessica checked in by text to make sure I was doing ok. Her land is well maintained and the location is close to a State Park and to stores and shopping. The land is on a slight incline and it can get windy. Highly recommend and will make plans to return when it's a bit warmer!
