Clean, convenient and in a beautiful wooded area, matched the description and Rick was responsive. There were a couple of other spots visible and it wasn't very private, but it worked well for a place to camp for the night for the price.
Rick’s property was a slice heaven. The unexpected dump station was a nice surprise! The site was quiet & private. We just had a wonderful and restful stay. Highly recommended!
Really Nice area, really quite and with water electricity and table chairs.
We really enjoyed our stay at Hartwoods. The site is well-marked at the end of a residential road; we felt safe having neighbors nearby, and we also had privacy. There is a gun range in close proximity down the road, but there weren't many cars driving by at all, and it was far enough away to not cause a noise issue. The site has water and electric hook-ups, and it appears as though there will be sewer hook-up in the future. While in Guilford, we visited Lavender Pond Farm which has a train that takes you around the property, Bishop's Orchard which had an awesome set up for kids (mini-excavators, bubbles, pedal bikes and more), and Gillette Castle which has trails and beautiful scenery (you can also take a tour). It was definitely a great hub for our stay. The site is level and has gravel, there were only a handful of mosquitos, and overall it was very quiet and safe. We parked our camper near the fire pit which allowed us more room to spread out, but it did have full sun during the day which got hot. It wasn't a big deal for us since we were out and about, but if you are looking to have more shade during the day, I'd recommend parking your camper / pitching your tent on the more narrow part when you pull in. We are definitely planning to visit Hartwoods again in the future!

great location, quite, well set up. Having sewer was a surprise!
This place is special, a hidden gem not far from home. Very peaceful, spacious, clean and well kept. The view is very pretty and the site is easy to find... away from the main road but close from it. My wife and I really enjoyed the site. We will be going back in the winter if available. Thank you Rick!
This campsite was incredibly private and felt like a hidden gem, far removed from the hustle and bustle of Connecticut. Rick, the host, was prompt and provided detailed information. I highly recommend this spot, especially for those seeking a peaceful retreat with electric and water hookups. We will be back for sure.

Very easy spot with my 16 ft tow behind. Lovely location.
If you’re just looking for a night or two, this is a good place to stay. It was quiet and it was near the blue trail off of Hart Road that went north and ended in a very cramped turnaround.
When I first traveled up Hart Road and got to what I perceived to be a “gate“ which were two posts on either side of the road, I turned around.
I had to go all the way back down and across to the motel on Route 80 in order to sit in the shade and contact Rick.
Just remember to go through where I had turned around and look to the left up about 10 to 12 feet on the tree for a dark sign that’s engraved with a dark lettering “Hart camp“ or some compilation of those words. If you turned left into the campground, your campside will be on your right. I had to then turn around again to come back in so my camp side would be facing the fire pit, allowing my electrical and water to hook up on the opposite side.
I have to say that it was very quiet except for the gunshots going off at what I can only assume was a gun range a half mile or so north —probably more. It didn’t bother me at all and there was little to no traffic going up that road.
The great thing about this campsite is that I could let my dog run freely within my eyesight without fear of being reprimanded. My labrador retriever loved it! Rick did stop by to make sure all was well and even dropped off the new picnic table.
Exactly what we needed! Perfect for our needs. Super private, quiet. Pretty level site. Very little traffic noise from the main road. Rustic yet has those RV needs: sewer, water, electric. On -site table and fire ring. LOVED.
We parked our Class B RV on the very large spot. Pleased to have 30 amp hook-up and access to water. It looks like sewer will be available soon. Really enjoyed the quiet that isn’t usually found in a campground.
Would recommend this spot and will return if we’re in the area again.

Beautiful piece of land-very peaceful! We enjoyed camping here.
Beautiful, quiet and secluded. We were just there for two nights passing through, we would have liked to stay longer. Easy to get to but don’t miss it, it would be very hard to turn a big camper around and go back.

Well kept, friendly, and peaceful place. Has a perfect spot for campfire. My family and I had a great time. The hiking trail is just a bit overgrown.
Hartwood was perfect for what we needed. Quiet. Private, but in a neighborhood, odd but true. Majestic trees. Never saw anyone else on the property. Communication with host was polite, informative and timely. Had a nice level site with water, electric and waste. Fifteen minutes from beaches.

We loved our stay at the Hartwoods! The site was very quiet and peaceful, our dogs loved the trails! The owner is responds quickly to any questions and the property manager was very nice, even gave us some wood for our fire! Would absolutely stay again!

We couldn’t have found a more perfect spot for our multiple trips into New Haven or to the other places we visit from this location. The drive was easy, the spot was level and it was quiet and peaceful.
It was tight. We had to back our 31’ fifth wheel out of the 2nd entrance because the first entrance was too tight, but we knew that from everyone else’s comments.
every thing is just as advertised. nice forested setting, a few buildings 100 yards away or more. hiking trails just down the road. great Italian at the end of the road. water and electric are very good. nice fire pit.

Lovely quiet place. Hosts were very kind people. Very fast communication. I would definitely stay again if I’m in the area.
Rick’s place is a great find. We needed a place within driving distance to Bridgeport, to visit family. We stayed in early March, when there was still snow on the ground. Rick was very easy to communicate with and helpful. He ensured that the site was plowed. The full hookups worked well. The spot was level and we didn’t need any levelers. The spot is spacious, and has a nice fire pit. You are in a wooded area and it is peaceful.
We had read the comments on access and finding it. A few comments: if you arrive in the daylight, it’s very easy to find, as the mailboxes all are numbered, so even if your GPS take you too far, you will find it easily - the address is clearly marked. Re the entrance and trees: We are a 27 ft travel trailer towed with an SUV - 44 ft total. We went in the second entrance and out the first entrance. You need to pay attention, but we had no issues either entering or exiting. We just went slowly watched our angles. By going in the second entrance, you are set up correctly for the hookups - otherwise you will have cords and hoses across your trailer.
If you are looking for a place in this general area, this is a great spot. We hope to stay again to visit family in the future.
Really enjoyed this Hipcamp. Felt very private, the electric hook up allowed us to stay nice and warm in the campervan, and the host was responsive and welcoming. We’re definitely adding it to our list to return to in the spring.
Perfect spot! Feels like wilderness but there are actually houses all around. Plenty of hiking too. Read the other reviews on the driveway- it’s not that bad! Arriving by daylight advised.

We had a great stay in Rick’s land. It was an incredibly easy pull in spot surrounded by privacy. It was a perfect stopping point on our way to Maine. Thank you for the restful sleep and beautiful scenery. Will stay again.
