The meadow we occupy was once the farmers property that I grew up next to at my parents farm house.
When he wanted to sell his property he offered it to us for purchase at a fair price if we would not develop more than we needed to live here.
We maintained the meadow adjacent to our property and have kept it as an agricultural site.
We have had our son develop an edible forest garden and a unique diversified small orchard so we can eat and share healthy organic fruits and vegetables while helping our environment and wildlife and educating others to do the same.
It is expensive to live in Newtown but we love our property.
We want to teach others to grow food from their land while helping to support us keeping our adjacent property agricultural and undeveloped.
Our property has provided many happy gatherings and events and we love to share it with others.

You can enjoy exploring, and examining our 7 year permacultuire food forest with chestnut seedlings already tall enough to climb , 10-foot hazels bearing buckets of nuts and a different selection of raspberries, blackberries, gooseberry, currents, golden berries, service berries and Mulberries. Enjoy a stroll through the meadow trail to breath in morning views and evening fireflies and stars. This camp area is very private but household amenities are not far away if desired. This site is much more private than Mickelberry Forest Garden Site and the beautiful mountain view is only a small step away. The Creamery (Ferris Acres) is one of the best farm ice cream shops in the East. Our land is 18 acres of a wooded hill, surrounded by hundreds more acres of trust-preserved land. A brook glitters from across the street, visible from most spots on the hill.
The preserve land can be hiked, though there are not always paths. Macedonia and Kent Falls state parks are nearby by car, as well as an entrance to the Appalachian Trail just five minutes down the road.
We are just six minutes away from the Tenmile River Metro North station and can pick you up with advance coordination.
The town of Kent, Connecticut is a 7-minute drive and has lots of shops, dining, and an art gallery. The town of Amenia, New York is a 12-minute drive and has a drive-in movie theater, and some restaurants. Historic Downtown Wassaic is a 7-minute drive and is home to the Wassaic Project art gallery.

Well off the beaten track, it's scenic, private and peaceful. Camping at Moon In The Pond Farm is a bit of heaven.
There are separate sites to choose. Around the farm, you have your own secluded spot to enjoy. (Though you may be in a field next to our Scottish Highland cattle!) Two are tent sites: the PondSide and the FieldEdge. There's one site for small/tiny RVs or Campervan. And finally there's the HiddenCabin--a bed a roof and convenience. Each has a firepit with a small grill to cook over the fire. (all firewood provided)
Our campsites are in quieter areas of the farm. One overlooks the pond, others are on the edges of different farm fields, one a cabin nearer the farmstead. All require a beautiful, bucolic trek of 150-350 yards from the roadside parking--ensuring the quiet, natural experience. During the day times, you may see or hear farm work. At night it's lusciously dark and serenely quiet. You'll hear owls hoot, frogs croak, crickets chirp, foxes yowl and coyotes howl! In June and July the fields and trees light up like Christmas with fireflies, and you'll see the stars.
During the week is the absolute best time--the local hot spots (or cooling down spots!) are much quieter, and all our campsites have reduced weekday rates. If you can, take advantage by adding a Thursday or Sunday night to a weekend stay.
We've got an awesome, easy hiking trail on adjacent Nature Conservancy land. It meanders through woodlands, around rock ledges, through wetlands (on a 600' of boardwalk) and ends at a beautiful stream and pond with a gigantic beaver dam.
Not far from here are numerous well-marked hiking trails (including the Appalachian Trail (with famous Bash Bish Falls) and several offshoots (Sage's Ravine, Race Brook Falls), Bartholomew's Cobble, Umpacheenee Falls, and others). Also in the neighborhood are opportunities for canoeing, kayaking, swimming, rock climbing, gavel-road and country-road biking, and pretty much any outdoor activity/adventure opportunity. Or... you can just chill and relax, sleep, or read the day away!
Love food? This is Farm-to-Table for real! Never so close--the table's AT the farm! Bring your cooking gear and get some of our wicked fresh organic food--veggies, chops, sausages, eggs, bacon, granola, yogurt, etc. Sear yourself up a real treat!
Very nearby, as the Berkshires is a cultural mecca, there are also numerous opportunities from many great restaurants to art, dance, music, spas, galleries, antique shops, museums, cafes and much more.
It's still amazingly quiet at the farm where the Milky Way is clearly visible.

A very spacious semi-wooded site that is in the shape of a triangle. The dimensions are approximately 100' by 100' by 50'. Perfect for the large group camp out or the family site. The Lean-to is approximately 10'x9', large enough for a small tent or keep the picnic table in there for bad weather.
Large or multiple tents no problem, put your tents in the wooded area where there is room for multiple tents. There is a fire pit area, picnic table, 4 outdoor chairs and corn hole that all are included with the site. A seasonal stream runs along the campsite giving you a nice bubbling brook sound.
Plenty of privacy with screens around the site.

Lovely site above the river with trails leading down. Very private, though East camp is closer to neighbors. Not luxury camping but a very good campsite with most of what you need. We were there for the hottest days of the summer (temp hit 100) and the site was the coolest place to be, shady but still caught the breeze. The massive thunderstorms, and the tent and other tarped areas held up well. Overall a very positive experience despite less than ideal conditions.

This is such a lovely spot and Allison is an incredible host. She communicated with us in advance to ensure we had everything we needed and on the day of our stay she and her husband met us when we arrived, they showed us all around the property and even gave us a gift bag. Beautiful land. Wonderful host. Lovely farm animals. Absolute 10/10 stay. Notably for future campers, the bell tent is in the corner of a field, meaning no shade until 2-3pm and our stay was during a heatwave. We were out and about for these hours so it didn't affect us but it may be worth toting in a shade structure.

It's the perfect spot to introduce a newbie to camping. I had taken a friend who initially was unsure if she wanted to stay overnight "in the middle of the woods". Because the campsite has a great layout with an easy-to-use compost restroom, she was able to become more confident. Between hiking up the trails for birdwatching & enjoying the campfire after dinnertime, she says she can't wait to camp again! Special shoutout to Jessica & her husband for providing:
- convenient pre-cut dry firewood
- private compost outhouse
- additional option for roundtrip pick-up/drop-off service to/from the MetroNorth station.

Amy and Bill were amiable hosts, communicative and cheerful. We enjoyed our two night stay, and their farm animals were so sweet and curious. Ample accommodation with room to stretch out by firelight, and create multi course meals easily with my camp kitchen crate and a cooler, both by grill and over the wood fire with the grate. It was a warm weekend and the sink with cold, potable water was so nice to have within a few steps from the site for refilling water containers and doing dishes. We’d happily return to this sweet, quiet spot. What a gem!

This was such an amazing campsite and we had the best time during our stay. Paula and Bill are so kind and welcoming and do such a good job to set up the campsite with everything you could need. The spot was so shady so even in the hot sun it was comfortable, total privacy, and a nice walk down to the swimming hole. Would definitely stay here again!

Weekend Trip to Luxury Camping at 'Higher Ground'
Very nice stay, perfect off grid relaxing overnight. The platform is solid and the bed is comfy. It's camping without having to lug in all your own gear. A short uphill hike with a few natural rock steps brings you past the privy then another 100 feet or so (still uphill) to the campsite. Well maintained with tiki torches and a fire pit. Small kitchen type space and a table round out the accommodations. No complaints.

What an absolutely gorgeous and peaceful piece of land to camp on. When I got to camp everything was nice and clean. The owner David is very kind. I loved this campsite so much! I will 100% be coming back.

Absolutely amazing first experience using this app. The owner David was super kind and put me at a pre set up tent location because it was raining and it honestly made a huge difference not having to set up a tent. The area was super cozy and felt very private. I am 100% returning with friends to this campsite.

Stayed at this amazing location with my son at site 1. Very private spot on the property. The property has amazing views of the mountain and has a large clear sky view for star gazing. I wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

25 ft campervan
We parked our Class B RV on the very large spot. Pleased to have 30 amp hook-up and access to water. It looks like sewer will be available soon. Really enjoyed the quiet that isn’t usually found in a campground.
Would recommend this spot and will return if we’re in the area again.

The Meadow's Edge was a peaceful space that felt just private enough even though it was close to the main house. The cutest chickens and ducks wandered the field, and there were also two goats and tortoises. The site is a short walk from where the car is parked and you'll have to carry in your items. But it's nice to see the animals on the way to/from the car. There is a firepit, chairs, wooden picnic table, and bbq grill on site. Potable well water available at an outdoor sink. Firewood available for $10. Big Y and Caraluzzi supermarkets are both 10 minutes away. Our group had an amazing time and saw beautiful stars at night. Amy and Bill were terrific hosts and easy to communicate with! Highly recommend staying camping here.

Our family had a great time! Beautiful site, lots of privacy, and it had everything we needed. The tents were big and comfortable, plenty of firewood and water, and the kitchen was stocked with all the essentials. We had fun hiking and swimming in the creek. We’d definitely stay here again.

Ask any local—the Mattatuck Trail from the Grey section of Waterbury to the Wigwam Reservoir in Morris is one hike you don’t want to miss. At the very least, it’s a good place to start.
