Hello, welcome to Know Town located amidst the close knit hills of central Vermont and nestled in the heart of the Stony Brook watershed in the town of Stockbridge. We have just over 40 acres of diverse natural beauty to explore and bask in, which includes a beautiful stretch of the brook with multiple dunking spots, as well as a larger swimming hole. In addition to Know Town's own outdoor activities, there are plenty of hiking trails and big river swimming holes located nearby.
Currently, we offer three options for your overnight stays, as we just added The Swimming Hole site. This new site is very special and is sure to be a place that you will want to return to. Our Geodesic dome is the epitome of glamping with the comforts of home, but still integrated into the natural surroundings. Located right on the brook with a private fire pit and outdoor dining set up. There is plenty of room for games in the large field and a separate camp spot overlooking a little water fall and one of our swimming holes.
For those who enjoy car camping we have the Apple tree camp site. Located right on the brook with a big rock for sunbathing and a spacious area for tents and rooftop car campers. There are a couple of apple trees to relax in the shade under and a large picnic table and fire pit.
Know Town welcomes well mannered dogs (2 per site). We are 420 friendly and geared towards hosting those interested in arts, music, meditation, and ecology. There is virtually no light pollution which makes for optimal stargazing.
Also, it should be noted that there is currently no Wi-Fi or cell service. Please be aware that Vermont prohibits out-of-state Firewood. We sell firewood for dome and campfires, and guests are welcome to scavenge the plethora of downed dead wood on the property.

Camping is provided by and in support of the Blueberry Hill Outdoor Center, a 501 3C non-profit company. Located in the heart of the Green Mountain National Forest, the Outdoor Center provides access to the Blueberry Hill network of trails, the Vermont Long Trail, The Catamount Trail, and the Moosalamoo National Forest Trails.
All campsites are located at the edge of the field behind the Outdoor Center. We have hot/cold outdoor showers as well as restrooms in the Outdoor Center. For more information, visit our website at blueberryhilltrails dot com.
While there is an internet connection near the buildings, it may not be available at your site. Cell service is limited at best. You can drive your car right up to your site. Sites are a good distance apart. Site 1 and the Bed in the Shed are the most private. Site two is quite open and supports trailers.
For your campfire, you can forage for wood or request "bundles" (about a dozen hunks of wood) by the morning of your arrival, and we'll have it delivered to your site. Please note, wood from outside Vermont is not permitted.
We like to keep things quiet. No generators at any time.
Step outside your tent and you'll find a wealth of hiking, biking, and running trails. As stewards of these trails, your camping fees help support the efforts of this non-profit company. Nearby, you can enjoy swimming, kayaking, and canoeing. Trail maps are provided upon arrival, and you can also view them online on our webpage at Blueberry Hill Outdoor Center.
The Outdoor Center offers snacks and cold drinks for purchase, including our inn-made chocolate chip cookies, chips, and cold drinks. Also available on site, at the Inn across the road on mornings we are serving, may be a full breakfast, pastries, packed lunch, and coffee. (Please enquire in advance or night before if any inn items are available. ) Don't miss our Pizza Nights at the inn. More info on the Outdoor Center or Blueberry Hill Inn webpage. Full of scenic waterfalls along a Vermont mountain brook, our daughter named the land after dynamite was found during renovations of the former one-room schoolhouse on the property 5 years ago. Naturalists will love the brookside trails, many dipping pools, a zip line, wood-fired hot tub, hammocks, and a privy with a woodland view. There are several scenic campsites on the 150 acres, but only one will be rented each night to ensure a special experience. Wifi and power available across the brook outside the farmhouse as needed. No cell service. Spend lazy days exploring the woods, reading a book in a hammock, or sunning yourself on a rock in the river. A large 16'x20' tent with rain fly well accommodates up to four people.
Roxbury is the geographic center of Vermont - which makes it a great basecamp for adventures. Warren / Sugarbush is 20-25 minutes to the west. Montpelier is 20 minutes to the north. Randolph is 20 minutes to the south. Two brewpubs are within 15 minutes.

Chunk wood is furnished for the inside stove. There is a splitting maul, snow shovel, and hatchet

Pitch your tent in this beautiful Vermont sugarbush overlooking a bird and frog filled wetland. 16 sites lie along a ridge and meander down to an old sugarhouse accompanied by communal campfire zones (firewood included). Short bike ride to historic downtown Poultney with restaurants, a bookshop and rad bike shop (Analog Cycles). There are pristine swimming holes nearby (2.6mi), 3.6mi to Lake Saint Catherine State Park (swimming, fishing, boating, hot showers), 2.5mi to epic Slate Valley Trails mountain biking, Howe Hill trailhead hiking ( .4mi ), 70+ mile gravel road network begins with a left out of the driveway. Discover a rural Vermont treasure.
Camp ground is basic, rustic, no frills. It's not glam. Think: still a working maple sugar bush. There's maple lines around, you'll likely have to duck a few. If you like tent camping but want to avoid crowded state parks, this is a good home base to explore the area. The Sugar House and the surrounding buildings are used for bicycle events 3 times a year.

Staying on Heather’s land at Slateville was such an amazing experience that my friends and I got to share. The drive over is beautiful and scenic with farms upon farms rolling past you. Heather was an amazing host and more than accommodating, the farm shop and extra camping gear she provided was super helpful. When we arrived she lead us to our site through her land, the drive up the hill was exhilarating, you could see everything from up there. The site itself was breath taking, we were fully secluded and rarely ran into any other campers. The quarry site is spacious and everything is provided. My group and I were blown away and had the most wonderful stay. Would go again, Homies trip 2027

My husband and I had a memorable time at Chapin’s place. He has an incredible set up. The tent was roomy and everything inside was practical. It was stocked with plenty of wood for the fire pits and chiminea. We were able to cook breakfast and eat out on the picnic table. The hot tub was a welcome treat after spending hours hiking and swimming. The swim holes and waterfalls were beautiful and the water. Was crystal clear. Even the privy had a view! We have stayed at several Hipcamp places, and this is our favorite. We will be back!

May have been my favorite hipcamp ever. The green mountains of Vermont provide everything you could want, while the hosts provided everything you could need. Even wifi for my friend who needed to work/check emails. Hosts were prompt, professional (even with last minute booking). 10/10

Gorgeous piece of property and just really nicely done. Enough touches to give it character but untouched enough to still enjoy rustic camping. Would love to come back again. The reservoir near by is great and not too far from town. It’s great they provide you with fire wood, outhouses are really well kept. I do wish they had a bit more of a rain water system available but we knew going in there no water, so no complaints. Stephanie was very friendly and lovely to meet! As dead fans this place was perfection.

I booked this vacation in March and basically forgot about it until it was time to venture up to VT. We were blown away by the zip line, private swimming hole and all the thoughtful touches put in by Chapin and his family.
Our dog LOVED being off leash to explore the hollow and surrounding areas, and it was private enough to not be worried about bothering anyone.
The hot tub was a nice touch, despite us visiting during a heat wave the temps got low enough at night and in the morning to use it! When it got too hot midday, we'd cool off in the swimming hole. It was perfect.
Having a queen sized bed to fall asleep on was amazing. We woke up to thunderstorms and torrential downpours the first night but stayed completely dry in the tent. The rushing water is like white noise which helped my daughter sleep later so I got some time to myself in the mornings.
Also probably because of the excessive heat - at certain angles on hot days you can really smell the privy as you walk from the water up to the tent.
We're already planning a return trip!

What a great campsite! We were fortunate enough to have an incredible storm roll thru just before midnight. Being in nature in the mountains and watching the lightning dance all around was epic. Stephanie was very easy to communicate with and clear with directions etc. The cabin was perfect for the two of us.

Wow. What a special place to stay. Chapin’s land is located on a mountainside with a beautiful brook running though it. This is the perfect place to disconnect. You won’t have service either way! There are hammocks to lounge, a zip line, multiple fire pits on the premise, and hidden swim spots along the brook for those willing to venture. The heavy canvas tent has a cozy bed along with a couple tables, candles, and lantern.
My dogs loved hunting for rocks and swimming in the brook while we sat by the brook. The hike to the top of the property was worth it, because you’ll find a trove of views and hidden swim spots along the way. My only regret was not staying long enough to use the hot tub! Thank you for the great experience Chapin. We’ll be back.

A beautiful piece of property. I would stay here again and I would definitely recommend others to stay here. That said, a few notes:
1. Those with mobility or balance struggles may not have the best time at this spot. The bathroom is up a steep hill and a small walk up the road. The river is not easily accessible due to a sharp decline through bush-wack and mud.
2. Those wanting lots of privacy may be disappointed. The river access for other campsites is through this camp. We had a nice couple repeatedly walking through camp and a random gentlemen on an ATV who came down, stared at us for a few minutes, then left. It did take away from the experience a smidge, but not enough to deter another visit.
3. There is some sound of vehicles, mowers, a dog barking occasionally.
UPSIDE:
Easy to get to.
Very clean and well maintained.
Enjoyed an amazing swim about ten yards up the river.
Within proximity to a lot of great restaurants and a grocery store.
Robbin was a fantastic and responsive host.
The campsite was wide, flat, and spacious. Thick brush surrounded it from most sides. The other meadow campsite sits slightly above, but otherwise has a dense wall of foliage providing privacy to both.

The best private campsite I have ever visited. This is a labor of love, the whole property has been impeccably designed giving a unique experience to every location. This is located in a farmland valley with beautiful vistas of meadows and open sky. We stayed at Pines which was such an interesting experience, located real remote. Even the driveway to reach there is a trip in itself. Heather is a super attentive and sweet host who goes out her way to make sure you are taken care of well. There is a hot shower, water and Wifi at the farm entrance plus all essentials stocked in case you forget anything. Unlimited wood. What else do you need?? If you are a fan of private sites, this one will exceed your expectations.

This was our third time here and once again, we had a great trip! The space is so open and beautiful, and it’s very private. The views of the mountain in the morning are incredible as well!! The host is great and we have never had any problems.
Just a few personal recommendations for places nearby: we love the chocolate barn’s ice cream and The Village Peddler’s chocolates, there’s also Sugar Shack, which has amazing donuts and a Norman Rockwell exhibit, and next door is Ramunto’s Pizza, which was one of our favorite pizzas ever.
