MalloReid Sugarwoods Cabin
It says that you need four-wheel-drive to get to the cabin, which is definitely necessary. But what it doesn't mention is that there's a very steep incline. That is literally scary to drive up as you can't see the other side of the sheer rock face that you're climbing over. I also think our car is gonna need an alignment when we get back, we had to get out of the car and walk over some of the scarier parts, not to mention if there's any wetness on the boulders and rocks or climbing or driving in the night. It should just be a very clearly advertised as such, which it wasn't, only needing four-wheel-drive, which to me implies just rocky or bumpy roads. Also, although it was raining and damp, when we got there, the cabin had a musty /mildewy/ Moldy /smell. Very rustic & very remote, which could be a plus. We had to cancel last minute and scramble to find a new place, as my kids and I were not into it at all. Could be great for some of you're mentally prepared!

What an amazing stay! The cabin was very spacious and cozily decorated. The kitchen was fully stocked and the beds and linens were fresh. The solar was a bonus and super easy to use. It was so peaceful being secluded. I highly recommend this for those who want to unplug and relax in the woods!

The perfect place to get away from the daily hustle. The cabin was well built and surprisingly insulated. The well-thought out design provided plenty of room. The location is far enough off the beaten path, but close enough to civilization to grab supplies if you needed to. The basic kitchen cooking utensils are provided. We will definitely be back. It was an absolutely enjoyable stay.

We loved staying at Darren's yurt. It was cozy and well-appointed. The picnic table, fire pit, fire wood, and maple syrup for sale on-site were also nice touches. Note, that the drive to the campsite from the road was quite treacherous, even with 4-wheel drive. We recommend for those with vehicles that are high off the ground. Darren was a wonderful, communicative, and helpful host!

Darren was the perfect host! Very responsive .The property is peaceful and private! The yurt is the perfect place for a Vermont getaway with Vermont decor and very spacious … My pup loved running free and the maple syrup made by Darren was delicious on blueberry pancakes made on the grill.I would highly recommend Darren’s yurt for anyone looking to escape into the woods for a relaxing getaway…

This was so cute and everything we were looking for! This last minute trip was perfect because it was cozy but was also in a camping setting and felt outdoorsy our kids loved it and its was just adorable. Darren was really attentive and answered really fast he had everything ready for us because we were coming so late and already had the door unlocked for us and i really appreciated that! This sweet little cabin was exactly what we needed to get out into the woods despite a ton of rain. We stayed dry and cozy and still got to unplug and unwind and enjoy nature. The cabin is fully stocked very clean and very comfortable. We were even able to have a couple campfires since there is a large covered dry wood pile. Road in is steep and tricky but no problem for our full size 4x4 pickup truck. Darren was the perfect host with tons of great recommendations and super communicative. Quick to respond to any questions we had. The cabin and site were spotless when we arrived and so peaceful. Lots to do in the area!

We had a wonderful stay! The cabin was the perfect blend of rustic charm and modern comfort. The wood-burning stove was a highlight. Darren was incredibly helpful and provided clear instructions on how to use the stove when we were struggling to light it on a chilly rainy day. Our dog loved the privacy and peacefulness of the surroundings. We would definitely recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a peaceful retreat in nature.

We had a lovely stay at the cabin. Really enjoyed cooking on the wood stove, exploring the woods, and bundling up in the evening. The kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, and cutlery, and the blankets provided were more than sufficient to keep us cozy. Darren was very helpful and responsive, and reached out to check in with us about weather on the day of our arrival. It was a bit of an adventure to get there during a snow storm, but it was so worth it! In the winter, would recommend to people who have 4 wheel drive, or who don’t mind a short snowy hike.

We couldn’t have had a more perfect weekend in the woods! The yurt was cozy & had all the basics to make our stay complete. We also ventured out to babes bar & bent hill brewery and both were fantastic. I hope to book again in the future!

The MalloReid cabin was so cozy and comfortable, and our dog loved it too! Darren was a great communicator and even let us know about a local event happening during our stay. The drive up to the cabin was even fun to tackle in my 4Runner. We explored Woodstock and Stowe during our trip, too. Overall: great stay, great host.

What a spot! Everything about this place is great. Perfectly secluded, quiet, and smack dab in the middle of the woods. The dogs absolutely LOVED it - plenty of space to run in the woods off leash. The cabin itself is cozy and charming. Wood shed was fully stocked and we had plenty of water for our few days. A solid selection of good food and even some late night options nearby. We'll be back as soon as we get the chance! Thanks for hosting us!

Darren was very kind and accommodating. He gave my boyfriend and I great information about our stay and directions on how to get to the cabin. Darren has stocked the cabin with everything you need besides your food, toiletries, and clothes, so we where able to travel light. Darren has created a nice cozy get away in the beautiful woods of Vermont away from it all. We where able to experience the fun of camping while having a comfy cabin to spend the evening in. It was so nice having a bed to sleep in. We will definitely stay at Sugarwoods Cabin again someday! Thank you Darren!

If you are seeking the opportunity to get away from it all this is the place to go! My son, Australian Shepard mix, and I spent a quick weekend in Darren's Cabin. You could hear the faint train amidst the birds and other forest creatures. We were loved that we could "rough it" without having to deal with a tent. The road up was definitely an experience arriving late at night. Darren did a great job sending videos prior to our arrival so I knew directly where to go. The solar was great. The weather was great. The people were great. We spent a significant time playing in the river near the bridge by Peavine Park where many families were wading or fly fishing. We went to Silver Lake park as well. We only wished we had more time! Darren had many suggestions to us on what we could do and things close by where to go. If you just need to sleep the canopy of trees and cabin make it easy to gain the rest you need. We had no problems and hope to be back again soon. (In fact, one of our friends saw pictures on Facebook and are already asking about it!) It is for sure a lasting memory for my son and I. We can't wait for the syrup.

We had a wonderful stay at the cabin- it was exactly what we were looking for and was such a special place to ring in the New Year. It is secluded and quiet with all of the amenities we needed for our stay. We cooked dinner over the outside fire and enjoyed our morning coffee in front of the wood stove. The gas cook stove inside was perfect for cooking our breakfast. We ended our stay by exploring the land and walking amongst the maple trees that will be tapped for their sugaring operation come spring. If you’re looking for a quiet place to relax in nature and you enjoy more rustic but very comfortable amenities, this is the place for you!

We very much enjoyed our stay! Darren was communicative and accommodating- the cloudiness and rain caused the solar not to work well, but he made sure we were taken care of by getting us a lantern. The area is beautiful - especially this time of year! My friends and I are already talking about a return trip.

Great secluded spot. Everything you would want in a cabin…wood stove exterior fire pit plenty of dry wood and a great host Darren. I’ve been to atleast 10 hipcamp as. This spot is top 3 forsure. There’s not much to say but it’s awesome!
