Slateville Farm Secluded Camps

My family (7 year old daughter, husband and dog) had the most wonderful time tent camping at the Hops site on Heather and Paul's beautiful farm. It's such a special, expansive place with so many cool spots to hike to within the farm that we didn't feel like we needed to leave the property. We loved the peace and privacy of the Hops site but next time we'd like to try to Oak tree site which has stunning views. My daughter loved drinking directly from the spring behind Heather's house, and visiting the pergola near dusk. The highland cows against the backdrop of rolling hills and the beautiful slate structures look like paintings. I'd definitely recommend taking the tour of the property to orient yourself. Heather is a lovely person and a knowledgeable and engaging host.

Wonderful, restful stay!

Amazing experience! The owl site felt very secluded, and it was fun to explore trails and the beautiful land. We heard the owls every night during our stay but couldn’t spot them:) Our pups swam in the leaf piles and the quarry, and kitty enjoyed overlooking the site on the picnic table. Everyone had a wonderful time. We arrived after dark due to traffic delays but Heather still welcomed us in person and lead us to the site. The farm stand is cute, and the shower really helpful for our slightly longer stay (4 days). Can’t wait to come back soon.

We had a fantastic time here. The property is sprawling and beautiful, and the Hops site had great amenities—ample firewood on request, a great firepit and chairs, and a clean outhouse. Heather was an excellent host, ensuring we had everything we might need for our stay. Highly recommended!

Stayed at the Oak Tree Site on Heather’s land and I can’t recommend it enough! The site the peaceful, secluded, and on the opposite side of the road and up the hill away from the main farmhouse and other sites. The site had a picnic table, fire pit, a grate to cook over the fire, a charcoal grill, and an outhouse. The site is an open area with a beautiful view of the Milky Way on a clear night. Make sure you’re driving a 4x4 vehicle up to the site - bit of a climb. Heather is a lovely host and is available for any questions or recommendations - lovely hiking trails onsite (go sit at the quarry!)

Slateville Farm Rocks!

Heather provided us with the perfect getaway weekend! Her farm is so beautiful and she is a wonderful hostess! The Hops site was very private and peaceful. The outdoor seating and firepit made it so easy to relax and enjoy the fall evenings. The hiking trails that they have made are great to explore. We also took advantage of the outdoor shower which was such a nice experience. Even the outhouse was comfortable and meticulously maintained, and this is coming from someone who normally tries to avoid them. Last and certainly not least, we are still enjoying some of the home-grown/homemade treats from her farm stand, and cannot wait to return to Slateville. Thank you to Heather and Paul for such a great weekend!

10/10!! Heather’s place is stunning and she was a fantastic host! She was quick to respond as needed and has a well stocked farm stand! The trails and the quarry were great additions to the experience. The oak tree site was perfect for us with the seclusion and the outhouse was clean! If staying at the oak tree site during hot weather, it may be best to pack a canopy for extra shade since the area is pretty open but we had perfect temperatures and didn’t need it! I would definitely recommend and hope to be back someday!

Our new favorite place to camp!

This was my second visit to Heather's farm and I look forward to returning again. The property is gorgeous. The sites are very large, private, and far enough apart that you will not see or hear other campers. My dog and I loved being able to walk all the roads and trails that criss-cross the property right from our campsite. On my first visit I was there in October and the fall foliage was just incredible. The farm is close enough to town so that everything you could need is within easy reach, but far enough to feel quiet and remote. I am already looking forward to our next visit!

Great place to camp! We brought our two kids (1 and 4) and had a great time!! So much to do with all the hiking trails, quarry swimming, cows, bass fishing pond, chickens, sunset pergola, spring water, the list goes on. We just loved it. Got to fall asleep listening to 3 owls hoot. Such a private campsite with nobody nearby. We loved it and hope to return for many more trips.

We absolutely loved staying at the new quarry site!! The farm is HUGE and the property itself is beautiful. The campsite was very well maintained and the new quarry site is only a few steps away from the swimming hole (which was way better than you’re imagining, if that’s even possible). We had a few first-time campers with us and the new quarry site was perfect (surrounded by trees but the site itself is an open clearing). The farm stand had lots of vegetables from Heather’s garden and other necessities for rent/purchase, and Heather was very nice and super accommodating - she even let us stay later after checkout on our last day!! This campsite had everything we were looking for, and it was a short drive from many good hiking spots. We definitely recommend and hope to be back in the future!!

Our stay at the Oak Tree site was absolutely perfect. Our host Heather guided us to our site and was warm and welcoming. The site was totally private and had amazing views. The whole property is yours to explore. We were able to navigate with the host supplied map and check out all of the features the property had to offer. We had a great time and we will be back for sure.

Amazing Experience!

This was absolutely the best experience! Heather met us upon arrival and showed us the lay of the land. She was so kind! The Ridgeline vista site was absolutely amazing. We camped with friends and young kids and everyone had enough room to spread out and the kids had plenty of room to run around and be as loud as they wanted! The views were absolutely incredible and the added bonus of the covered pavilion with the Adirondack chairs and boat deck overlooking the countryside was awesome. We swam in the quarry (short walk from the campsite) and it was so much fun. The kids loved it and there were kayaks to use and explore the small quarry. The water was very refreshing and we were surrounded by fish! We sincerely hope to return sooner than later! Oh and I would highly recommend getting the farm fresh eggs and burgers. The eggs were still warm when we got them and the burgers were so so so delicious!! Thank you Heather!

Stunning Escape!

We had the most incredible weekend at this Hipcamp. The site was absolutely stunning—private, peaceful, and surrounded by nature. The owner should be so proud of the space she’s created—she was beyond accommodating and made us feel right at home. We loved visiting her farm stand for some fresh, local goodies. The best part, though, was the quarry swimming hole—it was the perfect place to relax and unwind. We spent our nights watching movies under the stars and enjoying food by the fire pit. It was exactly the escape we needed, and we’ll definitely be back!

This was such a special place! The views were amazing, the stars were unreal, and Heather was so hospitable and welcoming! Our dog absolutely loved it, and overall it was an unforgettable experience. The oak tree sight is beautiful. It’s so spacious, surrounded by wildflowers, and has a view of the mountains. Heather was a great host and got us everything we needed. She also has a little farm stand with fresh produce available for purchase! We would definitely recommend this site.

Truly a Memorable Experience

Heather’s land is a peaceful, secluded gem. Exactly the kind of place you go when you want to truly unplug and reconnect with nature. We stayed at the Hops site and it was perfect for our group of five: private, spacious, and surrounded by beautiful views in every direction. Heather herself is wonderful, friendly, caring, and clearly pours so much love and hard work into making her farm a safe, welcoming, and memorable space for everyone who visits. She spoke highly of her husband, who also puts in a lot of effort behind the scenes to help maintain the land and keep everything running smoothly, which added to the appreciation we felt being there. The highlight for us was the night sky. The stars were absolutely breathtaking, like nothing I’ve ever seen before. It was the kind of experience that just sticks with you. We’re already talking about making this a yearly tradition, and I’d recommend this spot to anyone looking for a truly special camping experience that feels like an escape in the best way possible.

We had an incredible stay at Pine Site Campsite! From the moment we arrived, Heather—the camp host—made us feel completely welcome. She was so kind, accommodating, and took the time to show us around her beautiful farm. The campground itself was spotless, peaceful, and offered a great sense of privacy, which made for such a relaxing getaway. What really sets this place apart is the farm—it’s truly amazing. Heather had fresh produce available, and it was such a treat to be able to enjoy homegrown fruits and vegetables during our stay. She explained everything with such care and passion, and it’s clear how much love she puts into the land and the experience she offers guests. We’ll absolutely be coming back. Pine Site is now our favorite campsite, and we can’t wait for the next visit!

Better Than Ever

Heather's site was even better than last year! We were fortunate enough to be the first to test out their new wooden dock at the quarry, and it was most excellent! The Hops site is still perfect... spacious, private yet open enough to see the woods and huge fields. Nothing but good things to say about it. You would be selling yourself short not to check this place out! We will return next year.

An Unforgettable Camping Experience

After three years on Hipcamp, Slateville Farms delivered our most amazing camping experience ever. Heather's hospitality was exceptional - she met us at the Farm Stand and personally escorted us to our site. When she learned we were celebrating my 14-year-old's birthday with friends, she thought the boys would LOVE the new Quarry site, upgraded us and had our tent set up before arrival! The Farm Stand was incredible with essentials like firewood and ice, plus gourmet treasures including homemade organic strawberry rhubarb vanilla jam and pickled beet relish that were unbelievable. Fresh berries, vegetables, and eggs collected that day from Heather's chickens added authentic farm-to-table magic. Thoughtful amenities included four shelves of forgotten items - we used the first aid kit, mosquito repellent wristbands and even borrowed a hammock. The complimentary incense bug repellent was game-changing. At dusk during dinner, not one bug bothered us as fragrant incense filled the air. The Quarry site was phenomenal with kayaks, floats and an amazing jumping spot for the boys. Spring water spigots provided icy cold water. If needed a flush toilet + shower added perfect glamping comfort. Sunset views from the highest peak were breathtaking! We even chilled with Highland cows! I'm already planning an adult trip back. This represents everything great about camping - genuine hospitality, stunning beauty, thoughtful amenities and exceptional care. A million thanks Heather and Paul!

Ridgeline vista RV site

Heather’s land is pure magic. Every detail feels intentional yet natural—she’s left the wild beauty intact while weaving in her own touch. My favorite part was the vines growing into the outdoor shower. The swimming holes were beautiful and refreshing, not as cold as you’d expect from spring water, with fish darting around and a jumping rock for the brave. Magestic serene cows that always seem to appear in new places (without ever being seen moving). Each campsite has a different personality, keep that in mind while choosing to get the most out of your experience :) There are trails with signs connecting all sites together and she gives you a map and run down when you get there. There are helpful hand made items and seasonal produce at the farm stand where you can also get WiFi. About half the time it worked at our site too! Heather is a beautiful person. So passionate about honoring the land’s red slate quarry history. Her care runs deep—she even came out at 4am in her Kabota to help search for our friend’s missing disabled dog, and returned later with a drone. My traveling companion and I left feeling restored and grateful <3 Also checkout their new sign! And try her strawberry jam, seriously.

Fantastic weekend at the quarry!

Awesome site and property! Heather was a very kind host who made us feel very welcomed onto her farm! We purchased a wood bundle and a half dozen eggs from her and were very pleased with both! High quality wood and the eggs were delicious! The quarry was so refreshing to jump into and was the highlight of the site. There are kayaks to use on shore and a nice cliff to jump off of. If you want to hang in the water you should bring a flotation device since the whole thing is at least 45’ deep! Just one note: We stayed at the new quarry site and the site had an interesting fire pit. It is a very deep metal “cup”. Thankfully our tripod hanging cooking grate just barely fit over it so we could still use it but it is just something to be aware of. It’s pretty big so the fire is deep into the cup so its kind of tough to watch the fire unless you are standing up. The redeeming thing about it though is that it does a fantastic job of keeping the smoke out of your face! It forces the smoke straight up. Overall it was a 10/10 site and Heather has such a beautiful property! We will be back!
