Timbertrail Farm / Post & Beam Barn

Mike's got a beautiful piece of property that's private, quiet and a great space to get away for a while. The night sky is perfect for Star gazing wlo light pollution. Places to hike nearby! It was definitely a positive camping experience, in the big "post & beam" barn with a few added comforts: electricity, functional and ambient lighting, a small fridge, a bed w/comfortable mattress, an air hockey table, darts game, a turn table w/many vinyl selections and ping pong table too! Lots of neat old barn tools displayed. There's a wall that completely can open you up to the outdoors, yet you can sit in the comfort of an old couch and read as you look out. It was even fun, warm and dry when it poured outside. There's a fire pit, chairs and wood, if you need to purchase, an outdoor "spring water shower" and a pit privy w/ to paper provided. It's camping after all!! We had plenty of room to set up a cook station and our Coleman stoves etc! Indoor dining table too. The fresh spring water spigot on the property was delicious! No need to buy water at all! Bring a water cooler to fill! It was a first time, unique "new experience" for us to camp in an old pole barn & we definitely enjoyed it and will go back again! (He has some really beautiful tent sites too that I'd highly recommend if you like being off the grid! ) We really enjoyed ourselves and it was a pleasure to meet Mike. He was a perfect host! We stayed here one night the barn was beautiful and quiet. The sky at night was full of stars and location wise is so close to a nice ice cream shop and a park. I highly recommend staying here

We had a great time at the Timber Trail Post & Beam barn- even put a tent up inside for the kids! We would recommend if looking for a unique experience in the area, and will look to stay here again in the future.

A must stay

If you need to wash in mountain water and recharge in the moonlight this is the place for you!! Absolutely perfect rustic get away. Clean and quiet with a lake within walking distance and the Green Mountains surrounding you

Southern VT Prim..awd 4wd in spring

WOW. Mike has the most beautiful property. Direction were very clear and it was easy to find the site. Going up to the site was a bit of a challenge with our Toyota Camry but we still made it! AWD/4WD will have no problem getting up there. The shower I will say was a little too open for my liking as it's facing the road that other campers will have to take to their site but luckily I had a tarp to help cover that side. Still it was the most freeing and refreshing shower of my life! I cannot wait to be back! The fireflies were the cutest touch! Thank you Mike!! We will be back!

Always an enjoyable Hipcamp site!

This is our second time camping on Mike’s property and we will likely be back! This site has a picnic table, fire pit with grate, a separate little grill spot like the kind you find at parks, and a pit toilet. This is a super sunny spot, so definitely keep that in mind if you’ll be there during the day in the summer - you might want to bring something for shade. There is firewood for sale on the property but we also found a spot right down the street that sells some great quality wood, especially good if you plan to cook over the fire. The view is great (we got some solid stargazing in too!), there’s also a little shower at the bottom of the hill to this campsite, and we ended up going to Lake Shaftsbury State Park to swim and cool down since it’s right across the the main road. We drove a Toyota Corolla to the spot but it could have been tricky to get up the hill if it had recently rained. It was buggy when we went but we only saw one tick the whole time!

Another Great Trip

This was our third time here and once again, we had a great trip! The space is so open and beautiful, and it’s very private. The views of the mountain in the morning are incredible as well!! The host is great and we have never had any problems. Just a few personal recommendations for places nearby: we love the chocolate barn’s ice cream and The Village Peddler’s chocolates, there’s also Sugar Shack, which has amazing donuts and a Norman Rockwell exhibit, and next door is Ramunto’s Pizza, which was one of our favorite pizzas ever.

Unbelievable views

The view at this site was incredible. You could see the mountainside for miles! That wasn’t even the best part. Once dusk came, the entire field in front of me lit up with hundreds of fireflies. They were keeping me company all night long, and shortly after sunset the sky lit up with millions of stars for me to stare at. I even saw the Milky Way band! If I didn’t like 4 hours away I would be here every week!

Me and my friend stayed there in the little cabin as we had such a lovely time!! The bed is comfortable and the nature is beautiful there. Mike was a great host, and we had the opportunity to check out the barn as well, that place is beautiful too!!

Stonewall primitive

Site was clean and easy to drive up to. There was a notable slope at all points of the site so anything larger than a 2 person tent is going to have you sliding as you sleep. It was difficult for us to get a good night sleep because of this. There also isn’t a cleared area in the middle of the meadow as the pictures show.

This place is amazing! It has an awesome view of the mountains, very spacious and private. We’ve had a wonderful time. We came to do astrophotography but the weather didn’t cooperate with us. We hope we can come back as the place has an unobstructed view of the skies. Mike is also an excellent host! He’s very responsive and took care of his land really well.

We really enjoyed camping at the Stonewall primitive. It’s a beautiful property that faces the mountains. We had the open field to ourselves. The host’s property has water and an outdoor toilet. The property is within a 15-30 minute drive of the town of Bennington and Manchester making it accessible to visit nearby towns. We highly recommend!

We loved Mike's barn. He was a tremendous help with the wood fired pizza oven. I had never used one before. We had a great time. I wish we had 2 nights there. We brought sleeping bags and were glad because it did get cool even in May. If you like rustic and can light a wood stove you'll like it. My fire wood was too long and Mike cut it for me. Thanks Mike!

Mike- A very "Hip" Host!

Tje barn space was cozy using woodstove. Walking the trails led to hidden surprise landscapes. I highly recccomend any of the sites. This host is highly accomodating, kind and of course, "HIP!";
