Weekend Trip to Slateville Farm Secluded Camps

Awesome site and property! Heather was a very kind host who made us feel very welcomed onto her farm! We purchased a wood bundle and a half dozen eggs from her and were very pleased with both! High quality wood and the eggs were delicious! The quarry was so refreshing to jump into and was the highlight of the site. There are kayaks to use on shore and a nice cliff to jump off of. If you want to hang in the water you should bring a flotation device since the whole thing is at least 45’ deep! Just one note: We stayed at the new quarry site and the site had an interesting fire pit. It is a very deep metal “cup”. Thankfully our tripod hanging cooking grate just barely fit over it so we could still use it but it is just something to be aware of. It’s pretty big so the fire is deep into the cup so its kind of tough to watch the fire unless you are standing up. The redeeming thing about it though is that it does a fantastic job of keeping the smoke out of your face! It forces the smoke straight up. Overall it was a 10/10 site and Heather has such a beautiful property! We will be back!

My husband and I loved being able to stay at The Dome with our pups for a night. The river is absolutely beautiful, we went in the swimming home as well as the falls. The property is private, well taken care of and soooo peaceful! The Dome took out breaths away. We knew it was still a work in progress but we absolutely loved it. We’ll be back here in no time! Thank you for having us.

We had a great time hanging out at this site. The hosts are great and do a fantastic job maintaining this beautiful tract of land. The entrance is easy to locate and provides great privacy for swimming in the river and enjoying the landscape. The generous beach area was clean and tidy and a great spot to listen to the waterfall cascade across the river. It was very helpful to have some necessities like the picnic table, chairs, fire pit and grills on site. 10 out of 10!

This was our first experience, using a hip camp site and our experience was absolutely fabulous! The site was immaculately maintained, beautiful, and very relaxing. One note to future travelers, it was very helpful for us to have a rechargeable fan just to keep the pesky black flies away.

What an incredible gem of a spot by the river! Plus,a natural cold spring fed waterfall off the mountain right in front of the swimming hole...pure heaven!!! Will D. has outdone himself with this site providing everything you would need and more...firewood, picnic table, both charcoal and gas grills plus so much more!! There is no service in this area, I would suggest downloading directions before your trip to get you to this amazing spot. Will definitely book again in the future!!

We loved how private and peaceful this campsite felt as it really felt like we had the entire place to ourselves. Sure there are other sites on the property, but they are well-spaced. So you have plenty of privacy and quiet. We visited in early July and were treated to an incredible show of fireflies each night. Heather was a wonderful host—very responsive and helpful, and she gave us great recommendations for local places. The on-site shower with hot water at the farm stand was also a bonus. Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for a serene, private getaway close to nature!

My group loved our stay at Heather’s farm. We originally had The Owl site reserved but Heather accommodated us with a bigger site due to our group size. The site we ended up at was wonderful with great views and so much space. The private dock was a plus! There was a lot to explore in the farm and we only scratched the surface. We’re looking forward to coming back. Thank you so much for having us!

Very quiet with great swimming and lots of hikes right from your sites. 2 of the Brookside Sites (Wishbone Left and Right) are close by (2.7 miles) where we have another 1/2 mile of river frontage and can handle bigger groups as Conservation land on Sunrise Farm only allows 4 campers per site. Sunrise Farm Sites 1 and 2 have oodles of space and Spectacular 50 mile views of Mount Monadnock with no house lights out there in the evening except the party string lights we provide. Site 1 (with entrance 70 yards south of the farmhouse) is best for camping in with up to 20 foot trailers or multiple tents …on the large flat spaces in the 25 acre field to choose from. Great Well water available near farmhouse. Biodegradable soaps Only if used in the ponds. Double Olympic sized Swim Pond we stock with Rainbow Trout to keep clear. We have been advised Not to allow imported firewood (can import Wood Beetle dangerous for our forest). - PLEASE use the Firewood bundle tubs we provide ($12.50) - pick up at the farmhouse or pull wood from the woods (and make it safer for use). Beautiful and plenty of wildlife nearby... as well as Outhouses are marked on Map we provide with solar lights marking them at night. Do Not Leave food out when camping or away from site. Bears are rarely seen but it is wild country. Sites have locking garbage lids. Unique and lovely as well as being next to trails and roads to miles of remote spots with very few if any ... people. In Winter we request only AWD vehicles go down to this site or park up by farmhouse and hike in so you can easily get out. When wet park up by the road if you have 2 wheel drive. Always WISE to arrive When LIGHT out as we do not live at the site and are not able to show guests to their sites as a result.

Come see Lake Shaftsbury State Park! This 200 year old farm is at the top of a dead end road on 150 acres. It sits in a region of Bennington County formerly called Healing Springs Vermont. The springs that flow off of West Mountain come down through the farm and across Route 7 where they feed the picturesque state park! Best drinking water, anywhere to the left of the chimney at the white house. Arrive at our 150 acre property at the top of this dead-end road.. (Please stay left all the way up to the top...the road becomes our driveway).. Step out onto this 200-year-old farm at your own private site all of which are several acres each minimum.. Walk to streams ponds and Lake Shaftsbury State Park.

Know Town

A quiet, beautiful private setting with brook side camping, a large field or in the woods. Located three miles up on Stoney Brook road with a beautiful stretch of the brook passing through the property. Stoney Brook feeds into the White River, which has multiple amazing swimming and fishing holes, and is great for kayaking, canoeing, and tubing. On site activities include fishing, swimming, hiking, and skiing. Situated close to Killington, Woodstock and various local points of interest. Know Town welcomes well mannered pets (2 per site). We are 420 friendly and geared towards hosting those interested in arts, music, meditation, and ecology. We are currently building a Geodesic dome that will be available to rent soon. However it is currently a bit of a construction site, so pardon the appearance. Also, it should be noted that there is currently no Wi-Fi or cell service. Please be aware that Vermont prohibits out-of-state Firewood. In the future we hope to have firewood for sale, until then firewood can be purchased locally. There is also plenty of dead wood on our property to scavenge.

Granite Hill Lodge and Campground is a re-invented campground, brought back to life with the purpose of providing a place of quiet and leisure in the busy Lake George area. Just up the road is the popular Silver Lake and State Park, great swimming, sunbathing, paddle boarding, kayaking or canoeing. We are close to interesting activities, such as the White River National Fish Hatchery, Billings Farm, the Queechee Balloon festival, and more. Near by farm stands sell fresh organic produce, eggs, grass fed meats, homemade food products and crafts. What is there to eat and drink? Nearby restaurants include The Barnard Inn, Cloudland, Toziers, Tessi’s Tavern, Locust Creek Diner, The Bethel Sandwich Shop, Cockadoodle and Village Pizza. Babe’s Bar in Bethel offers amazing creative cocktails in an old railway station. In the village of South Royalton 12 miles away is our local Co-op. There you can access lots of healthy food choices, many locally sourced and lots of drinks, it's our go to market. Three miles up Route 12 is the Barnard General Store and gas station they have just about everything a camper could want. They stock ice, fresh baked goodies, fruit and vegetables, prepared foods and many locally produced delights such as ice cream, kombucha and fresh baked goods. Their meat case features, sausages, thick pork chops, fresh air chilled chicken, local grass fed beef and they always have fresh Farro Island salmon. They also offer wine, beer and ciders. A mile away on 107 is the Locust Creek General Store and gas station, they uniquely offer block ice, diesel and kerosene, drinks, simple fresh sandwiches, many frozen foods and lots of newspapers.
