My home is the original Diers Homestead, established in 1940. It was named The Chicken Ranch in the 1960’s. There aren’t any chickens, but there are many forest creatures that wander out of the Green Mountain National Forest & into the meadow. You may see foxes, deer, moose, large marmots, and lots of different birds including wild turkeys & great blue herons. Apple trees of many varieties are scattered around. Come eat freely when they fruit! You’ll be camping on a hill with a fire ring nearby. The beautiful sunrises and sunsets are both visible as the meadow is open to the south, east & west. This is a special place in a perfect location. If you like to explore by foot, there’s a network of private hiking trails and a river to cool off in, both within 1/4 mile from your campsite. Also easily within walking distance is the village of Rawsonville: Ungrounded Coffee, Meulemans' Craft Draughts, Honeypie, Family Kitchen and Pizzeria, OMG garden center & gift shop (home to the occasional Greenhouse Sessons event!), Mountain Riders, Equipe Sport & the Rawsonville Marketplace where you can get basic supplies and fuel. Speaking of fuel, if you really want to roll your wheels… Stratton Village is 8 minutes by car. Take a gondola ride to the top and check out the fire tower where you can see the entire lower half of Vermont state on a clear day. The village centers of Jamaica, Londonderry and Peru are also very close by and boast great food and crafts. And there’s always Manchester, if you’re seeking lots of shopping and fine dining. Horseback riding is a 15 minute drive from the campsite at Horses For Hire in Peru. This is a truly authentic experience. Trail rides for all abilities- even the “pony ride” for the little kids is a trail through the woods. Not to be missed! Also in Peru is Bromley Mountain which, during the summer months, becomes The Thrill Zone featuring a giant alpine slide. At Bee Well Homestead in Jamaica, there is authentic BBQ, live music and yoga every Sunday morning. The New American Grill in Londonderry has a wide selection of delicious food and their open mic night on Thursdays feature very talented local musicians. Even though it’s so close to all these uniquely wonderful people and their businesses, it is really just off a little country road - the best of both worlds! My home is the original Diers Homestead, established in 1940. The campsite was perfect for our group of four bikepackers! We loved having the fire pit and huge space to ourselves. Super close to restaurants and stores in town but secluded enough to be a great camping experience. Atom was an amazing host, very responsive before and during our stay.

This is a beautiful spot where enjoyed lots of space, fresh country air, and campfires at night. Pure VT! We were 48’ in total length (truck and travel trailer) and it was a little tight backing in, but doable with a little patience. Everything was great and we had plenty of space once we settled and unhitched. Atom provided tips on what to do around town, including details on what was happening the weekend we were there. Would highly recommend!

Excellent Jamaica/Rawsonville Camp
Atom was an excellent host! The property is lovely and catches the sunrise nicely. He pointed out flat spots for us 2 tired VTXL bikepackers to pitch our tents, then offered up some nice local info on a key river swimming hole nearby as well as food and beer/coffee options. Atom also very kindly supplied smores and firewood! Would definitely recommend camping here 👍👍👍
