The Martha’s Vineyard Family Campground began as a vacant wooded lot in 1968. The land was purchased by Charles and Jeanne Feeney from a retired doctor living in Vineyard Haven. Charles “Chuck” Feeney was an aerospace engineer at the time and was always taking his kids camping. His dream was to have a place for the family to camp and call their own. So together with his wife and five children he converted a bus into a camper and carved out a site amongst the wild blueberry bushes and scrub oak trees. Our family fell in love with the island. We discovered all the island has to offer and found it irresistible. We were the tourists of yesteryear and what attracted our family back then still exists today: beautiful beaches, fabulous fishing, quaint villages, and amazing sunsets. From the rolling hills of Aquinnah to the dunes of Katama, there is no place on earth like it. Martha’s Vineyard When Chuck found out his job was relocating him to California, he made the bold move to make his family campsite and land available to you. With a lot of hard work and great family pride, the construction of Martha’s Vineyard Family Campground began. During the first few summers of construction, we lived in the converted bus and tents. Slowly the sites and the roads were carved out. Summer vacations meant clearing land and pouring cement. Rustic cottage colony built in the 1940s on 5 acres of beachfront property. 9 cabins range in size from two to four bedrooms. They all have one full bathroom and one outdoor shower. The living area opens into the kitchen which is equipped with basic appliances, dishes and flatware (note: the kitchen equipment is not fancy, so many guests bring their own from home). On the beach side of the cottage is a screened in porch with picnic table for dining and a charcoal grill outside. Guests bring their own food, coffee, bedding, towels, and toiletries. It is important to consider the weather, as there is no temperature control, some nights require heavy clothing and blankets. Guests can bring space heaters and fans. Pets are welcome Ample parking The private beach is a short walk, across the street and down a sandy path. Guests can leave chairs, umbrellas, kayaks, etc. on the beach for the duration of their stay.

2 nights at Tidy Treehouse

Sweet little house with a good setup. Felt great to be inside rather than tenting while visiting the area. Outdoor shower and toilet, more comfortable than boon-docking or car camping. Quiet area.

3 nights at Cozy Wooded Nook

This was an excellent place to camp. It was easy to find and both Kathleen and Tori were very helpful and welcoming. There are lots of different locations to camp here, I had a small RV and setup in a grassy area. Power was provided (for a small few) and the clearing was shaded on all sides so although there was sun, there was also the ability to sit in a cooler area. There's a fire pit, table and chairs with umbrella, hammocks in the trees, an older static teardrop trailer for rent (I think). The location is near to the Plymouth airport so a few times a day you may see a Cessna-style plane fly up over the campsite which is pretty cool, and you can go to the diner at the airport if you want to see things more close up (or take helicopter lessons it seems). Getting to Plymouth is very easy, maybe six or seven minutes down the road. There are bars and restaurants in town, or several smaller takeout or restaurants near the campsite. There were several other people/groups that came and went whilst I was here and at no point did I feel cramped or too close to other campers, everything was well dispersed. The price was very good, temperatures were great (as was the breeze to stop it getting stifling), the hosts were great, would definitely stay here again! First time up this way, will not be my last. Side note: very friendly and kind motorists in the area!

Great space, fire pit and lots of chairs and hammocks readily available. Would recommend a way to mark the address better from The street as I drove by a couple times and needed to turn around. Overall great place to stay!

We loved tent camping on Kathleen's land there is ample space in between all four sites. The fire pits with cooking grates attached made cooking over the fire a breeze. Good directions help us find our site with no issues. We are already booked to go back!

Just an amazing amazing place! Very secluded, peaceful and serene… not to mention Kelley is such a fantastic host! We only stayed one night but what a wonderful night it was and don’t forget to check out Provincetown if you can… you won’t be disappointed! Just an all-around amazing time!!!

Weekend Trip to Tidy Treehouse

The Tidy Treehouse was perfect for my stay. The hosts were very accommodating. The house was clean, had a bed, refrigerator, and a microwave. It was a tiny space, but I was by myself, so it was more than I really needed. The location was perfect. Very quiet under the trees. I would definitely go back.

Absolutely stunning spot to camp! Dave was friendly and helpful throughout the stay. This is perfect for a quiet, primal camp. The bugs were not bad, but there were a lot of ticks as it's situated in a field. Close to the beach and to town but felt like you were in the middle of nowhere. Would definitely rent again!

We truly enjoyed the Teardrop Camper for our one night stay! It was quite the adventure. We loved cooking over the open fire, the hammocks, and due to no other campers around, the privacy was great. We might have left with a few bug bites, but that’s what you should expect when camping in the woods. (Make sure to bring your bug spray!) Our stay was definitely one for the books!!

This was a secluded nice place to camp out for a couple of days. Kathy could not have been any nicer or helpful making our trip extremely pleasant. You will not go wrong by camping at cozy kove.

We spent 2 nights here and slept so well! Cabin is neat and filled w extra nice things like board games and even a place to charge our phones. Outdoor shower was LOVELY after a day at the beach. The hosts were so nice and thoughtful. It was such a perk to have a small pump sink for dishes while camping!

A great woodsy site in the middle of Cape Cod. Place was clean, easy to find and had everything we needed. Liked that they had a charging station that also ran a light for the shack.

1 night at Plymouth Camping Spot

Excellent clearing on top of a hill. There is a fire ring made of cinder blocks and the owner left us a bundle of split/seasoned wood and some cardboard. There's some "debris" in the form of brush clippings that may or may not be dry enough to burn, but there was no trash or anything like that. They have a friendly black lab who will come over if invited but will stay close to the house. A 30 minute walk northwest will bring you to a new village with a tavern and YMCA, but is in a quiet enough place to tune out the world. Great spot especially when Myles Standish is off season. Owners are super friendly but won't impose, will definitely come back if something calls for it.

Step away from the bustle of everyday life with a relaxing journey to this national seashore. The sheer beauty of the coastline as you will help you unwind. You can even take your dog with you after the high tourist season has ended. Crowds are minimal in the spring and fall. On some beaches, you can walk for more than a mile and not see another person.

Keep your eyes open for seals playing in the surf and whales spouting off a little further out to sea. Each of the beaches and vantage points along this national seashore has its own own personality, and you'll quickly come to choose your favorites. Cahoon Hollow, Race Point, or one of the many lighthouses? You decide.

A great way to explore the seashore is to start at the Salt Pond Visitor Center (doing all the Junior Ranger activities if you have kids with you). Then head in the direction of Provincetown, where you can have dinner at the end of your adventure. If you're pressed for time, even the drive along the seashore will lighten your spirits.
