It all started when grandfather Charles B Wright first establish this farm in 1904. He purchased it for its natural springs. In our barn (now home to Gardiner Brewing Company) he had gravity fed water troughs for his cattle. Since then we have slowly switched from animals to tree fruit. You will enjoy rolling hills of fruit trees and fruit gardens along with beautiful views of the Shawangunk Mountain Ridge. We have 450+ acres so it in very private.
As we are a working farm, you can see us driving pass with our tractors or maintaining the orchard around your campsite on occasion. You are welcome to ride your bikes, hike or jog where you will pass ponds and a working farm landscape. Please don’t pick our fruit. If you would like to enjoy the fruits of our labor please visit our farm store open year round on the premises where we sell cheeses, our fresh picked fruit and veggies, local meats, and our famous cider donuts along with other farm products. We also have a farm brewery open 3-7 in our old dairy barn for you to enjoy. Live music Saturdays and Sundays. Minnewaska State Park and Mohonk Reserve are only 10 minutes away. The rail trail is three minutes away. This trail gives you walking and biking access into New Paltz, where there is tons of restaurants and lots of shopping.
Please be aware that during the months of September and October there may be a Pick-Your-Own customer or two walking around picking apples around the campsite area between the hours of 10:00-6:00. You are also welcome to come down to the farm market and purchase bags to pick your own apples in season.

Relax at Tilden Hill Farm its a 155 acre farm raising Black Angus Cattle it has been in the Brewer family for seven generations. Founded in 1798 by Josiah Brewer, the farm has served as a grist mill, chicken farm, cheese factory.
We offer several types of site selection for your comfort. Choose from our private tent camping to relaxing RV sites. Our tent sites are quiet and scenic, just a quick walk down to the pond. Some of our sites you can park next to, but a few you will have to walk ~100 yards with your belongings. There are 2 bath houses on the campground with hot showers and toilets.
All sites include a fire pit and picnic table. We have 10 full hook up sites (water/electric/sewer) and 9 sites with water and electric. There is a dump station and fire wood available to all for a fee.
Once settled in, take a meandering walk through our 12 miles of walking trails or find your way down to our pond. Water activities are plentiful: fishing for bass, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, we accommodate it all!

This is a beautiful piece of property located in the heart of the Finger Lakes and Wine Country of NY. It features a stunning spring fed waterfall and nice forest land. Very close to town but also very secluded and private. Great place to unwind and relax from our everyday lives. It is situated however in a gully next to a creek and waterfall so it is susceptible to heavy rains. It is recommended to at least have an AWD vehicle if rainy. I can usually help campers with getting to the site in my side X side if you need to park up at the pasture. Please order enough wood initially as I have found I spend a lot of time delivering extra wood to campers. It seems as if you will typically go through 2 bundles per night on average. Also I supply a contractor size garbage bag to you if you choose garbage removal. It is also a good idea to text me when you have a solid ETA so I can be here to take you to the site. I want to mention that the two sites closest to the waterfall are a slight hike in and can only accommodate up to 4 person tents so if a bigger group or vehicle camping you will be placed at another site. For generations, the majestic waterfall has been revered for its spectacular beauty. It’s considered a sacred site central to local land rematriation work with the Kanienkeha:ka.
Coursing between two outcroppings in a deep ravine, the waterfall crashes down over mossy rock shelves into emerald swimming holes and through dramatic clay beds. It’s one of those extraordinary spots on earth that make you feel like you’re in another world. The sites aren’t suitable for parties or loud groups.
It's about a 10 minute hike to the waterfall where you can spend the day swimming, exploring the clay beds and looking for fossils in the 280 million year old gorge. In the evening, make a campfire and fall asleep under the stars listening to the river below.
The hike is steep and appropriate footwear is required. All hiking is at your own risk. Although your path to the waterfall is private and the waterfall is on private property, there may be other guests or locals that access the waterfall further down the road. There is no glass or alcohol allowed at the falls.
Be aware that you may hear your camping neighbors in the woods. For this reason, we ask that you don’t play amplified music and keep noise down after 10pm to enjoy the sounds of frogs, crickets, owls, and night songs of the countryside
At the entrance to the campsites there is a barn community room with a charging station, cold water sink, fridge, coffee maker, cookware, and a port-a-potty. There are 5 gallon solar shower bags that you can use at your campsite. You are responsible for filling them and putting them in the sun to heat the water.
This is a leave no trace site. Take all your trash with you when you leave. Bring your own biodegradable soap for dishes and toilet paper for the port-a-potty!
Firewood is available onsite for $1 per log.
The Schoharie Valley is said to be the most fertile valley east of the Mississippi. It is still wild, unspoiled country and there are many local farms stands with fresh produce and organic meat close by.
Within a 5 miles radius is a general store, Scrumpy Ewe Cidery, Panther Creek Arts, Rooted Movement, the Sap Bush Country Store and Café, and Mustang Valley (a wild mustang sanctuary). Nearby hikes include Looking Glass Pond and Vroman's Nose, and others.

Our 75 acres is a wonderful, diverse mix of habitat, harmoniously integrated with our small farm. This land was the homestead of the very first non native settler of the area, John Wiley, in 1787. Before that, it was the land of the Mahican native Americans. They named it "valley of the butternut trees", or Wyomanock.
The Wyomanock Creek is the backbone of this little valley. Beaver have dammed the creek at several points to create ponds and other wetland features that support a diversity of wildlife including otter, moose and a myriad of birds, from osprey to herons. This sanctuary is host to many uncommon native plants and plant communities. We would love to share it with you!
Your host, Thom, invites you to property to explore 75 acres of meadows, woods and water. Choose one of several sites either in the woods or open areas. You are also free to use our outdoor solar shower or take a dip in the cold pond or artesian spring fed pool.
Our location is convenient to the Berkshire Mountains, state parks, hiking and other attractions, including Ramble Wild tree to tree adventures and Jiminy Peak. There are a few miles of rail trail access just down the road.

Our slice of paradise consists of 225 acres of forested land nestled in the foothills of the Catskills near Albany. We are a homestead and small campground devoted to the principles of organic farming and self-reliance. Modern agriculture and big business are unsustainable, destroying farmland at an accelerating pace. It is important for us to teach the next generation, there is an alternative. We produce much of our own food. We have friendly goats, chickens, ducks, peacocks, donkeys and horses the guests can pet and feed. There are no swimming holes on our property, but many waterfalls and swimming spots within a short drive (see list below). A quick 5 minute drive will get you to one of the best disc golf courses in the north east. For the truly adventurous, Clarksville Cave is a short drive away. A developed network of our own marked trails for exploring, our private red slate swimming quarry with docks and seating, and catch release fishing at 2 ponds are a few things to enjoy here. Slate Valley Trails and Merck Forest are close by. Places to picnic, enjoy the sunset, and idle are a plenty. Our farm stand is stocked with seasonal produce, jams, eggs, and bagged ice. Spring water is available. Excellent locally burgers, steaks, chicken and more are available.

Ugly Apple Farms is a diverse place. We have opportunities for farm classes, pick your own veggies and more. We also have 1800 feet of access to the Neversink River.
We recommend four wheel drive for some of our sites so please ask about them.
We are an off grid farm with access to some solar for charging. We have tent sites and room for campers. Our camping is primitive but there is access to potable water and sanitation if needed. All extras are first come first serve if not reserved in advance. We love and welcome any questions!

Weekend Trip to Upper Shire Campsites Hudson Valley
Joanna has created a magical private camping experience in Hillsdale, New York! You can feel her vision and passion throughout the details of the property.
I had the luxury of staying at the Pine Grove Bell Tent, which was is the Yurt outfitted with a queen sized blow up mattress. The yurt along with the ground were very clean upon arrival as was the whole property. Well maintained, groomed and clearly seeded with care.
I took this trip as a solo getaway from the day-to-day in life, to clear my mind and heart. I felt the 2 nights spent at the Upper Shire has been instrumental in supporting me in that process. If you're looking for a private campground run by a passionate and caring owner, I strongly suggest staying at Upper Shire with Joanna anytime of the year!

Super private and relaxing stay. It was great so fun to see the cows, and have access to the farm products in the shop. It was convenient having it a short walk away for fresh breakfast and firewood. Would absolutely stay again.

Another year another campout at Upper Shire. We love this place, the area and Joanna. This time we stayed at the new cabin. So cozy, specially this rainy windy weekend. We didn’t mind, made it more cozy. There’s a mini propane heater with a glass front that added ambiance and warmth to the cabin. Do I need to mention the outdoor showers again? My absolute favorite part, specially with fall brisk temperatures. Instant and endless hot water gives you time to enjoy the moment. The surrounding area has so many choices of top notch breakfast lunch and dinner. Hudson is 30 minutes with tons of restaurants and you’re right on the border of Massachusetts where there’s even more to do.
Can’t wait to go back.

The A frame was a perfect place to get away for the weekend. Joanna was a helpful and accommodating host, the place was well made and well decorated, and the pond view was so pretty. We look forward to visiting again!

Nice easy spot (we stayed by the barn) in pretty countryside. Also lovely campsites further in the fields. Check with the host about local roads - some have 9 ft bridges (Eric was quickly responsive and helpful).

I loved tent camping on Joan's land! Site #3 was nice and set back from the other sites and soooo spacious! There were trails that were very fun to walk on and explore right on the land. The farm animals were great to hang out with and you can't beat the farm fresh eggs! We were lost with how to get to some of the things and Joan responded within minutes. Super attentive. Great spot! Can't wait to come back

So very glad we chose to stay at Tilden Farms, the property was immaculate, so very well kept & the trails were many & glorious! They also have a great market store, the steaks from the Angus cattle they raise were truly amazing! I would highly recommend a stay whether for an overnight or extended visit, we had a truly lovely time :0)

We had such a great camping experience! The campsite was peaceful, clean, and perfect for spending time with family and friends. Everything was just as described. We really enjoyed our time here and would definitely come back again. Highly recommend! 🏕️❤️

Very cool little spot - porta potty is a solid 1 minute walk up a gravel path. Food truck closes at 10pm, no food otherwise at the bar.

This was a great campsite! Very close vicinity to many great hikes and having the farm market on site was so nice. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a great place to stay near the Catskills.

We had a great time camping on Wrights Farm. The view from the Ridgeview site was beautiful, and we all enjoyed seeing the parachutes dropping by the ridge throughout the day. We had great weather and never left the farm, between apple picking, the fully stocked farm stand and the brewery for entertainment, we were spoiled. The site itself was moved grass and big enough for our large 10-person tent. Great vibes throughout - both the farm and Gardiner. Hope to be back soon.
