Terrace Farm is a multi-generation farm on 160 wooded acres of Tremper Mountain located on the outskirts of the Hamlet of Phoenicia in the heart of the Catskill Mountains. World class fly fishing on the Esopus Creek, private hiking trail to overlooks of the Esopus Valley and historic rock quarries as well as several public hiking trails including the Long Path are all within walking distance. Also located within walking distance is the Hamlet of Phoenicia. We have three sites available. Beechwood at Terrace Farm is the quietest and the most secluded. This will accommodate six guests. Maplewood at Terrace Farm can accommodate eight guests. The Hemlocks at Terrace Farm is our largest site and can handle twelve guests.

The Hemlocks at Terrace Farm
This site was great. The host met us, was very friendly, and escorted us to the site. Nice and secluded, surrounded by trees. The camp site paths were covered in wood chips and each tent site set apart from one another and covered in sawdust for the softest sleeping surface I’ve found camping. The outhouse was new and spotless. The fire pit had a grate that swung over. Two large picnic tables. A large, heavy-duty bear locker. There was a high tree canopy that let just enough light in. A walking path led to a hiking trail on property to a lookout with a great view. Water provided to douse the fire. Cart provided to lug gear the short walk from parking. The hosts have thought of everything and done it all very well. The site is amazing and I look forward to returning.

The Hemlocks at Terrace Farm
The Hemlocks was an amazing site! It was very spacious and private with several spots to set up tents. We were able to easily rent a tent and a pop-up canopy, which was super helpful especially since there was a bit of rain. I would definitely return to this site.

Maplewood at Terrace Farm
Adele and the camping hosts were very friendly and the location was very pleasant and convenient. We were warned that there was a bear in the area with the intro instructions. . Still, we were startled to find the bear staring at us as we were finishing our dinner. We used the provided airhorn and whistle as instructed, but the bear was unbothered and just continued to circle the camp. Perhaps we are not used to the camping life as much as others, but it was enough to get us packing back to the city that very same night. In any case, we had no complaints with the camp itself and the bear may have just been minding its business but ulimately, we were uncomfortable with how comfortable it seemed around camp.

Beechwood at Terrace Farm
Remote Place to Tent Camp
Tent camping here was great. There is plenty of space between campsites. The campsites sit along a long, bumpy dirt road that is mostly uphill. We did not have cell service at the campground, but if you drive a mile or two down the road into downtown Phoenicia there is cell phone service, restaurants, and a small supermarket.

Beechwood at Terrace Farm
Beautiful site surrounded by ferns, the shade keeps it nice and cool but you get dappled sun through the canopy. Feels secluded, you hear some road sounds but it’s distant. Beechwood is farther apart from the other two so we rarely heard the other campers. It is right across from the trail entrance so I would keep in mind you may have someone from one of the other site walk up for that reason. Highly recommend the lookout trail. The packed sawdust that covers most of the site was great because you don’t have to worry about setting up the tent to avoid rocks or roots if you’re not using an air mattress. We had just sleeping bags and thought it was a noticeably more comfortable surface. The composting toilet was a nice and clean, great to have one at the site versus a shared one. It’s so close that we probably could have walked into Phonecia, if you don’t mind no sidewalks. We did walk down to the spot by the creek, but if you’re bringing kayaks or food to cook it would probably be better to drive over. Adele and her family were awesome hosts, very friendly and helpful. Will definitely come back.
