This was a great campground! Tyler was a very accommodating host, even to the point of bringing firewood over to sell when I asked if he could. You choose your site based on what is currently unoccupied. Some of the sites are more up on a hill in an area eith more trees and them some sites are more grassy. There were very clean and well maintained portapotties with a foot pump sink across from them. There is an outdoor shower that is really just an enclosure with a shower head attached to a hose and the water was cold, but it honestly felt pretty good for how hot it was when I was camping! I had my dog with me and she had no issues either. I had a spiral stake with a long lead that kept her within our site area. I would be cautious as a lot if the trees in the grassy area where i was had poison ivy growing around their base. This was a really convenient site to get to Port Jefferson and other areas and there are A LOT of farmstands, wineries, amd other things to do nearby.

Intimate campground. Very rustic and peaceful. This is camping. There are very few modern amenities, i.e., flush toilets, electricity, and hot water. Yet, if you want a true camping experience, this is it. Lots of beautiful vegetation. We found wild blueberries, dogberries, and water spinach. Lots of wildlife can be seen here while fishing. This is an idyllic spot to camp.

Peconic River Campground is a beautiful place to camp with spacious sites, a peaceful atmosphere, and plenty of nature to enjoy. The campground is clean, well-maintained, and perfect for families or anyone looking to relax outdoors.
Although our trip was unfortunately cut short by a severe storm, that was completely beyond the campground’s control. We truly appreciated the beautiful setting and hope to return in better weather. Overall, it’s a great campground, and we would recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing camping experience on Long Island.

Took my boys for two nights. Beat the weekend rush so we felt like we had the place to ourselves. Kind campers, friendly staff and really simple process. They have clean porta-pottys, hand washing station, water station to fill your bucket and a beautiful view of the lake. We stayed up in the wooded area which made for great shade and plenty of trees for hammock and tarp. Will be returning.

“I had an amazing time at this campaign spot! It was exceptionally clean, and the view of the river was just breathtaking. Despite there being a lot of people, it stayed really peaceful and quiet. The facilities were well designed especially the shower s although the water was really cold, so I’d recommend showering in the afternoon rather than early or late. I’d definitely come back and recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful relaxing riverside escape.

This was a lovely campground with honestly greta facilities all things considered, perfect for tent camping and there is quite a bit to do in the surrounding area. We loved the water and the walkable dikes and it was very relaxing.

First, I must state, the ticks have historically been a problem here. BUT, I feel they have been significantly fewer this year.
My opinion is mixed about how I feel about here as a paddling location. If you can't, or struggle to, carry your vessel, you probably won't like it. The outlet to the lake directly from the campsite is along several planks that are too narrow for a cart. A saving grace here might be that there is a proper boat launch just a couple minutes West. But then both directions along the river have several obstacles that split the waterway, so you'll have to "get off, walk, and relaunch on the other side" more than most may like. Granted *I* don't mind it while I'm still young and decently strong. And if you go East to Roadhouse Pizza and/or Snowflake Ice Cream, that's always a fun adventure with a delicious payoff! (There are also a mexican restaurant and a deli near there, but I have yet to try either.)

This campground is perfect and not described too well in many reviews I read online. There are several port-a-potties and they are the cleanest ones I’ve ever seen. Near the bathrooms there is a handwashing station with real soap and water. There are also several water stations and none of the campsites are very far from water at all. The outdoor shower is also nice. There is a camp security guard that camps there too. I was a solo camper with my cats and I have zero complaints. I felt perfectly safe. It was a beautiful site. Will be back for sure. Tyler also comes around several times a day to check on people and sells firewood. This exceeded my expectations.

We had a great short weekend. We made it in from nyc Friday night and Tyler was very responsive to our questions. Great camping spot for all types of campers. Very close to Walmart for anything you may have forgotten

Our group had a great time camping here! It was conveniently located and the amenities (shower, running water near every site, porta potties) were great for those of us who don’t necessarily want to “rough it.” The campsites are pretty close to each other so be prepared to hear your neighbors (especially early in the morning) but it wasn’t too. Would recommend and plan on coming back!

Great Local Camping Spot On River

Great local camping spot for a few nights in tent/overland/small-camper. Direct water access for fresh water fishing. Clean porto-potties, hand wash station, fire-rings, water hose & rustic outdoor shower. Open spots are first come, first served. Call Tyler upon arrival and he stops by to check-in, he has fire wood if you need any. Yes, it can get buggy, but it’s camping, so be prepared with tick and mosquito spray!

Fourth summer camping here. Always a blast. Grounds are kept well. Tyler is always helpful & friendly. Campground is right on the lake (which connects to the river on each side) with a great view of the water & access to it. It is a great place to launch kayaks or paddleboard which is a huge draw for me & my family. We are usually on the river all day if it is nice out. Then come back to camp for dinner & sleep in our tents. Porta potties are nice & clean. There is a shower as well as running water which is nice. Definitely recommend.

Very happy with this camp site. Clean and well kept. Tyler met us and was very friendly and professional. He made sure everything was ok with us. I highly recommend this place. Every one had enough space between each campsite.

We enjoyed camping at Tyler’s land. Great get away spot to come out to nature to have a relaxing time. A new clean bathroom w/o any smell. Washing station & shower area were added . Our 3x coming out to camp and will be back soon. Another great reason is close to Tanger Outlet so don’t forget to go shopping.
