This property was once a working apple orchard. Over regulation made it very difficult to manage so we let it lie foul for years. Then we let a fellow farmer use it to graze his cattle. Now our children has taking it over and are raising beef cattle on the property. Our campsite lies on the beautiful two and a half century old LeFevre family farmstead with rich history and stunning views of the Shawangunk Mountain ridge. The property is on a 40-acre old apple orchard that is super private and filled with dramatic views and spectacular sunsets. Wake up in your tent to the sounds of birds chirping, roasters crowing and cows just close enough but just far enough way. FYI we have moved our fence to accommodate our cows who live there year-round. Therefore some of our images from previous guests are a bit difference. Still a beautiful spot. The cows just get a whole bunch closer to you. Don’t worry we don’t charge extra for petting the cows.

This place is gorgeous and I can say it’s one of the best camping spots in NY. Honestly, I don’t want to tell My friends so I can keep this place not busy haha. So happy to find this place and 100% come back again

Gorgeous spot. We loved the cows! It was a little tricky to find in the dark (we got stuck in traffic which delayed our arrival time). Ask for clarification on where to turn to get to the spot because once we found the turn, it was easy to get to! Overall, great experience. Would love to stay again if we ever pass through the area again.

Fantastic camp site

This was my husband’s and I first camping experience, and we couldn’t have been happier and luckier to have chosen this camp site. The location is very clean, well maintained (lawn is kept short around the campsite), secluded and private but very close to the town of New Paltz, gas stations and grocery stores. There is a wooden elevated deck in case you want to set up your tent on it, but also plenty of space if you want to set it on the grass. The fire ring, aridondack chairs and the picnic table come in very convenient as well. The place has beautiful views of a valley and mountains. The cows were eating just across the fence in the morning so that was a welcomed surprise. As others have said, there is very little shade around the campsite, so it can get hot in the summer, but we came ready with a tarp and a battery fan and we were just ok. We loved the open and vast space with the beautiful apple trees. We will come back for sure to this site, host was responsive when needed, so all in all a wonderful experience.

Unmatched beauty, but a bit hot

This place is stunning! The view is unbelievable, the mountains, the farm, the sunset are all unmatched! What you need to be aware of is the hot sun. There is no shade. Summer time is a tough time to camp here, unless you can bring a large beach style umbrella. Plan to spend the entire day in the mountains and elsewhere. Otherwise this place is one of kind
