Wallkill River Camping

In addition to my other review, Sarah was more than helpful when we were trying to figure out our arrival plans. We weren’t sure if we were going to arrive in the middle of the night or come Friday morning a few hours before our original check-in time. Sarah worked with us and helped us book the previous night at a discounted price, which gave us the flexibility and peace of mind we needed. She was incredibly accommodating and made the whole process so easy. Definitely a fantastic host!

Paradise on the river!

Absolutely incredible stay! The campsite is in an amazing location right next to the river, and the scenery is beautiful. Waking up to the sound of the water and having such a peaceful view made the whole experience feel like a true getaway. Sarah and her husband were beyond helpful. They were fantastic and even recommended some beautiful hikes in the area, which was a great way to explore the surroundings. There’s also a clean bathroom on the property, which was a great bonus while camping. One thing to note is that the overall area you’re allowed to use along the river is huge, so there’s plenty of space to explore and enjoy. The designated campsite itself is a little small for a large group, so I’d recommend one tent in the designated area. However, you’re also allowed to set up camp along the river, and if you have multiple tents or a larger group, camping right along the river couldn’t be more perfect. The combination of the beautiful scenery, peaceful atmosphere, hiking nearby, and the ability to camp right by the water made this an awesome experience. We had a great time and would absolutely come back! Thank you so much for an amazing weekend!

Perfect for solo female camper

Sarah’s land is beautiful and exactly as advertised. As a solo female camper, I loved knowing that other campers and the working farm were i shouting distance, but the site still felt utterly peaceful, private, and remote. The river view is beautiful, and the option to camp right near the edge is perfect. I will be back!

Site 3 provided us exactly what we were looking for and we will surely return! We saw plenty of wildlife on the Wallkill River and the site was close to the town of Montgomery which has good restuarants and groceries for camping. The site itself was well maintained, with a fire ring and picnic tables. We camped closer to the river which gave us plenty of space for our party of 6. Sarah was also very communicative, quickly answering any questions I had. A great experience that had our group excited to return!

Sarah was a great host. She was responsive and made sure that we were totally taken care. We stayed at site 2, which was quite nice and easy to get to. You go down into a little valley where the camping area is right on the water. We felt there was plenty of privacy and enjoyed the beautiful views. The sites are somewhat closer together, but you didn’t feel like you were on top of anyone. Would recommend and come back!

Quite sore with plenty of shade for site 3. We will definitely be coming back. Short 1h drive from Jersey City. With rush hour traffic it took 1.5h traffic.

Beautiful family spot in nature

Such a quiet, peaceful spot! We camped one night with our two kids ages 4 and 8. They had loads of space to run around safely and explore, both by the river (not for swimming), in the valley by the river, and up on the hills of the farm land. We stayed at site one and thoroughly enjoyed using the grill and picnic table for our meal while watching the sun set and the bats come out to say hello. We were absolutely stunned by one of the most majestic nocturnal sights we have ever scene: hundreds of fireflies lighting up on the valley all night long. It was like another world and so beautiful. We watched them next to the small bonfire near our tent (we brought wood but you can also purchase from host, fire pit is already there). The toilet was so easy and clean as outhouses go. We felt safe and enjoyed complete privacy while camping here mid-June. The sun in the morning down in the valley where we pitched our tent was glorious and we adored drinking coffee under the shade by the river. We only stayed one night but we wished we could have stayed two!

Site number 3 was private and shaded with a beautiful view of the river. It even came equipped with both a grill and a fire pit. The hosts were communicative and made everything easy to find. The outhouse is stocked with some basic essentials you may need to purchase. Would definitely come back again!

Beautiful Spot

Beautiful space. Many big fish in the river. The bank is pretty muddy but there is a park on the river about 7 minutes away. Host was very helpful with local hiking spots. Restroom was very clean. All in all an excellent space!

Perfect first family camping trip

We had a blast at Sarah's campsite! The setup was beautiful and serene. There were other campers on the property but they were far away and it felt very private. We did hear a sound check and music set from City Winery but luckily the festivities seemed to have wrapped up by ~6p and the music was fun.

There is plenty of flat space to set up tents, nice and grassy. Nice area to watch sunset and moonrise. We opted not to set up down by the river because the path (just a few feet further down) was pretty steep and we knew we’d be going back and forth from the fire and the car. But we would return!

Beautiful location

What a magical and peaceful property! This is truly a special place and Sarah is a kind and responsive host. My friend and I visited and stayed in two tents and used one large canopy as common space to gather during rain and we had plenty of room. We were within 30 min of Minnewaska State Park, where we spent the majority of our hiking time. We hope to come back with sunshine and enjoy the creek in the back!
