It's the perfect spot to introduce a newbie to camping. I had taken a friend who initially was unsure if she wanted to stay overnight "in the middle of the woods". Because the campsite has a great layout with an easy-to-use compost restroom, she was able to become more confident. Between hiking up the trails for birdwatching & enjoying the campfire after dinnertime, she says she can't wait to camp again! Special shoutout to Jessica & her husband for providing:

My 15 year old son & I had a great time camping here. We liked the feeling of being secluded in the woods (we don’t like state park car camping next to other campers in a grassy sun baked field) and the campsite itself is among ferns and under a canopy of trees . There’s a great fire pit, picnic table, flat ground for the tent, and all the firewood you need, not to mention potable water and a compostable latrine. The only thing you need to be aware of is that you have to haul your gear by foot up the hillside to get to the site. Hosts provided a cart and we also brought our own, but it still took my son and I two trips up the hill. Getting up the hill took some real effort, but for us it was worth it to have our own secluded site. Our host Loki was super friendly and refilled the water jug when it was low when we informed them over the Hipcamp app. Macedonia Brook State Park is only a 10 minute drive and has a great 7 mile hiking loop. We definitely plan on camping here again. Thanks Loki & Jessica!!!

The pitched tent distance from the picnic table, firepit, & compost restroom (easy to use, has airy windows) are sectioned really well. Reservation communication was excellent. We didn’t commute by car because there was an available add-on option for “pickup & drop-off” from the MetroNorth station to the campsite area. We cooked the food we enjoyed & hiked (no chopping wood or carrying heavy water containers required).

Great hosts and nice site. Nature is the only thing visible, but you’re still not too far from the parking spot or the road if you need something from the car. Would recommend!

We had a marvelous time! Who would have thought we would be tent camping at this time of year for our second anniversary? But Jessica’s site was a gem! Plenty of water, firewood, kindling. Loki greeted us and made us feel. welcome. We’ll be back!

Nice, communicative hosts- the campground had everything you’d want: fire ring, table, wood and kindling. The only thing to note is there’s no bear box yet so bring a canister. Great stay, thanks again!

We had an excellent time! The campsite was a short walk up a hill but they provided us with a hand cart that made it very easy to transport the gear. Plenty of firewood was available and the host was welcoming and friendly. We already have plans to come back!

I had a lovely stay! The hosts are super communicative. The location is easy to find, though it is a trek up the hill so best to arrive before dark. I needed to do a photoshoot with a stone firepit and they have two sites with amazing constructed fire pits you can sit around! So lovely. (and absolutely tons of wood provided.) The latrine was nice and clean and there's a picnic table to use. The weather in late September was super summer-like warm. It definitely feels like being in the middle of the woods, but with the peace of mind that someone is nearby should you need anything. Oh and... a bear came by! It was a friendly bear that just licked up some water and didn't go after any of my food, but one should know there are bears in the area so best to leave food in your car and not in a tent overnight. (The host said if you make lots of noise they don't see bears but I was sitting quietly by myself for a while so got this super exciting experience.) This spot is super lovely and I hope to come back and stay again!

Brought some of my friends who had never been camping before here, and they already want to go again next year. Had a very nice weekend at Archmage Sanctuary, secluded campsite with very considerate hosts. The hosts were very responsive and kind, would love to visit the site again next year. Kent had a lot to offer in the downtown, and there were plenty of hiking trails within the area. Would highly recommend camping here!

I had a great time camping with my dog. The hosts were very kind and the site was clean and well prepared with water and firewood. The stone fire pit and surrounding bench were beautiful. I also liked that I was deep enough into the woods that it felt private, but I was still close enough to the road and host’s home in case there were some kind of emergency.

We really enjoyed staying on Sarah’s land! The campsite was very well prepared for our arrival with firewood and drinking water. We really enjoyed having a fire in the fire pit at the site. The toilet tent was an unexpected plus. Sarah was very helpful and even offered to help us carry up our gear. We’d definitely come back!

The hosts were very nice and responsive, and supplied plenty of wood and water. This camp site offers excellent privacy. A lot of care went into the rock seating and fire pit. The hosts also gave extra attention to the portable tent-toilet (but you must bag it out yourself), and have a fairly serious mosquito trap nearby to keep the bugs at bay. The main challenges to be aware of, is the hike up to the camp site from your car is brief (5-7 minutes), but is somewhat steep and twisty, and can be a little daunting if you have a lot of heavy gear. (A pull wagon helps some). Also, tenting space felt a little limited for large groups, due to slope and various rocks in a few inconvenient places, but we made it work pretty well (as a group of 5) with 3 tents. Also keep in mind, there is little to no cellular coverage at the camp site, although you can usually get a few bars of cell reception where you park your car. (Some may regard this forced-disconnect a plus) The surrounding forest/woods at the site are fairly thick with a heavy canopy, which I like, but it can be a little darker and take a little longer to dry out after a rain, so keep that in mind too. Overall we enjoyed our weekend at this site, despite a few challenges.

Really enjoyed our quick camping getaway at Jessica’s site. Perfectly tucked away in their forest, surrounded fully with a canopy of trees. The site was a short hike up to the mountains, making you feel very much in the middle of nowhere. Do make note to pack a lighter as it can be quite hard to lug things up. Especially in the rain, which we unfortunately had to do. The stone fire pit with the stone seats around was wonderful to hang around to get warm once the temperature dipped down. With the well stocked wood pile, we had that fire going for a while. The composting toilet was also very clean and well maintained. Overall had a wonderful time at their site and would love to come back especially with other sites they have planned in the future.

Tent camping at Archmage Sanctuary was just the getaway my son and I were looking for. The land was beautiful, the site was perfect for our tent, and the stone seats surrounding the fire were super comfortable - the perfect place to hang out. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. The site is a short 5 min walk uphill - well worth it.

I loved the campsite on Jessica's land. The campsite was a short hike into the woods and gave a real feeling of being alone in the woods. The campsite itself was a small clearing surrounded by tall trees, with a rock firepit and bench, as well as a picknick table and composting outhouse (a pleasure to use) . Our host provided plenty of fresh water and firewood. Overall it was a great camping experience.
