A century old chicken farm that was turned into a summer day-camp and outdoor recreation center in 1958. Currently it hosts about 500 happy campers every summer and events on the weekends.Spend a night in the "Hawks" group area at Holiday Hill Day Camp. During the summer weeks, these 2 12x16' Adirondack style lean-tos house our teen leadership program. But when they're not in use, they offer a beautiful spot to spend the night outdoors, with a commanding view of our manicured grounds and access to a wealth of outdoor recreation. The site includes both lean-tos, 2 picnic tables and fire ring. There is ample flat space on the ground, or pitch your tent on the deck in a lean-to for shade or shelter from the weather. Guests are welcome to use our outdoor athletic facilities and playgrounds as available. We close various areas seasonally and for maintenence so please inquire if you are interested in a specific activity. Daily swimming pool memberships are available in-season. Just across the street, Mansfield Hollow State Park offers a variety of hiking, biking, running, paddling and picnicking opportunities within a few minutes drive. Also only 5 minutes up the road is the UConn main campus, with arts, entertainment, dining, exploration and the renowned UConn Dairy Bar ice-cream stop. Since we are a functioning 23-acre summer day camp and event facility, you might expect to share the property with an outdoor gathering, wedding, or group lodging in our Farmhouse rental on the property. The owners live on site, you may see them driving on the road below or our staff working around the property. We're also in the process of developing 2 other Hipcamp spots on the property, all located to provide a wide buffer of privacy.
