Hudson Valley River Camp

Hudson Valley River Camp
5 sites · RVs, Tents80 acres · Watchtower, NYYou've discovered secluded riverfront camping that feels like the middle of nowhere without actually being in the middle of nowhere. Our property offers minimal impact campsites on a bird sanctuary in southeastern Catskills/northwestern Hudson Valley that's less than two hours from New York City. Your camping fee helps protect this beautiful property from development. We're 15 minutes to Minnewaska State Park and Mohonk Preserve, 20 minutes to Sam's Point and New Paltz and 12 minutes to Angry Orchard. There's no wi-fi but we have great cell service. The most unique aspect of this property is that it offers easy access to seclusion and privacy. Enjoy the healing effect of quiet in nature without crowds of fellow campers. Hudson Valley River Camp is located on the unique 80-acre Boria Sax Bird Sanctuary just outside of Pine Bush, New York. With only three minimal-impact campsites along the Shawangunk Kill and Dwaar Kill, our goal is for you to escape civilization and pause to enjoy the song of birds, gurgling creeks and wind in the trees. We also offer one wooded car camping/RV style site. Each campsite (except the RV site) is on the water and includes a stone fire ring and firewood. The RV site has access to water and all hiking trails. The hike to each campsite from the parking area is no more than 20 minutes. A shared trail crosses the smaller Dwaar Kill via a basic bridge. From there you will access your campsite via a private trail. The Shawangunk Kill, a protected tributary of the Wallkill River, is unusually clean and supports a variety of wildlife The entire property is ideal for naturalists or bird watchers who appreciate the earth and share the goal of keeping it pristine for future generations to enjoy. Wildlife found on the property includes white-tailed deer, red foxes, muskrats and mink. Bald eagles nest within view of the property and use the river as a thoroughfare. Depending on the time of year, you could also see bluebirds, downy woodpeckers, cardinals, chickadees, wrens, nuthatches, red-tailed hawks, and merganser ducks. Wood ducks and pileated woodpeckers compete for nesting holes in the American Sycamore trees near the confluence of the two rivers. You're likely not going to run into other people except for a few fellow campers and birdwatchers on the shared trail. You will feel like it is just you and the trees. Each campsite allows only one tent and two to four campers. No motorized vehicles are allowed. To keep this land pristine, we strictly abide by the "carry in, carry out" rule. We provide a portable toilet at each campsite with a new biodegradable bag that you take with you when you leave. We also ask that no ax, hatchet, or saw of any kind be used to chop or damage trees. However, small dry sticks can be used to start a fire.

Stony Rose Farms
5 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents38 acres · Kingston, NYStony Rose Farms is located in the beautiful and historic Hudson Valley. Our area has a rich farming heritage and our land was once part of a much larger farm. We purchased the land in February of 2020 and have created our own off grid paradise full of chickens, flowers, bees and lots of different types of plants. We are NOT a commercial campground, we are a working farm that offers Agrotourism stays and experiences. WINTER CAMPING: Winter camping can be great fun, as long as you are prepared! Please make sure you have adequate gear and are prepared for the cold. We advise you arrive in a 4WD vehicle so that you are prepared for the sloping gravel driveway and field no matter the weather. Be sure to check out our chicken coops. Our hens and roosters play an important role in the sustainable agricultural practices we use on the farm. Our lovely ladies provide us with delicious and colorful eggs each day. Your breakfast at the farm can't get any fresher... sunny side up eggs dripping yolk onto fresh local bread, fresh melons and berries still warm from the sun, sweet honey and local milk in your coffee. A true farm to table meal is possible year round in our beautiful valley! Most weekends we offer a breakfast basket filled with goodies produced on our farm or by other local growers. The back of our property is also wooded. If you are quiet you are certain to see birds, squirrels, chipmunks, turkey and deer as you walk along the creek and explore the mossy rocks and tiny waterfalls. If you follow the marked bushwack trail you'll be guided over fallen trees and through breaks in historic stone walls, then across the creek and up the hill you will come out onto the O&W Rail Trail. This 27 mile trail is perfect for hiking, biking and strolling. In some segments it is smoothly paved and others it is gravel. From this trail you can access multiple parks, libraries and museums if you are looking for a long hike or ride. We are centrally located between Kingston, Kerhonkson, Woodstock and New Paltz and all are about a scenic 20 minutes drive. The NYS Thruway is less than 10 minutes away if you are travelling through. The Rondout Valley is home to multiple breweries, amazing restaurants, luxurious spas, places to kayak, fish, swim, rock climb... or you could spend your entire visit at the farm reading a good book and enjoying beautiful sunsets. PLEASE NOTE: -We are a working farm that uses sustainable organic methods. There are bugs (ants, ticks, bees, mosquitos, etc) and areas with long grass. We keep the grass at the campsites short but you will have long grass around you. That long grass is home to numerous kinds of birds that only live in that type of habitat. Poison ivy is also possible when out in nature, we do NOT spray any chemicals on ANY of our land. -The sites are within earshot to the chicken coops, we DO have roosters and you WILL hear them. -There are wild animals around the farm. You should store away all food and garbage when you are not at the campsite. We would like to keep them cautious of humans and not a nuisance! -On holiday weekends we do have a minimum night stay.

Nature is calling! **History of The Awosting Club** In the mid 1950's John Atwater Bradley, then a graduate student, attended a conference in Cragsmoor, the site of a celebrated art colony not far from what is now the Awosting Reserve and The Awosting Club. The next morning at dawn, he went out for an exploratory hike and did not return until long after dark. Bradley hiked through evergreen and hardwood forests, along bubbling streams, roaring waterfalls and shimmering mountain lakes. He discovered an incredible wilderness like none he'd ever seen, populated by whitetail deer, black bear, fox, racoons, bobcat and coyote as well as a natural aviary of hawks, peregrine falcons, owls, eagles and pileated woodpeckers. That day he fell in love with the Shawangunk Ridge. The Bradley family still lives on the property, and after 50 years of sharing the property with educational organizations, schools, artists, writers, explorers, camps, family and friends, are excited to invite others to fall in love with the Shawangunk Ridge as John Bradley had over 70 years ago. Bradley's daughter, Camilla, and her family are keeping the Awosting traditions alive by sprucing up the camp buildings and platforms while maintaining the trails that have been used for decades for outdoor adventures: from sleeping to eating to playing to communing with nature in all her glory.

Bethel Pastures Farm
9 sites · Lodging52 acres · Jeffersonville, NYPurchased in 1999 from famous photographer Joel Meyerowitz, Rochelle fell in love with the farmhouse, it's 52 varied acres, rolling hills and amazing views. She dreamed of turning it into a B&B one day...bringing it back to it's original purpose, of hosting guests from out of town. The original homestead was a boarding house in the early 1900's. Rochelle, Mark and their son Jonathan love to provide good old fashioned hospitality in their cabins, glamping tent and farmhouse rooms. They love people enjoying their 52 acres and walking the same trail the cows did from the back fields all the way down to the milk barn in the late 1800's and early 1900's...but all that remains is the stone wall foundation and a small part of the silo. Partake in farm chores like collecting eggs, feeding the chickens and sheep! Just let the host family know you are interested and then you may join them for some very special and unique farm adventures! Pick berries in season and some veggies too! Children and pets welcome!
