The portajohn was in the middle of the view of the river and disgusting (need to be cleaned/emptied). There was only 1/2 a picnic table available for use. The views are of the river were amazing!

My friend and I loved the night we spent at Earl&Lisa’s. It was our first night on the road and we planned to camp in our small tent in their garden, but there was a storm & hail coming. They offered us to stay in the camper since there wasn’t anyone in it, and even to come in the house if it started to be really windy or dangerous (we were under a tornado alert). They were so kind and helpful, I highly recommend to stay there, the little lake and the big garden were really cute! Thank you again :))

Beautiful farm with horses and great sky views at night. Dave is very nice and attentive if you need anything. The bathroom is an extremely clean Porto Pottie with handwashing station and sanitizer. Definitely would stay again!

1 night at Sleek Acres

Me and my fiancé went tent camping here at site #1 and it was wonderful. They have a pond near all the sites and there’s a little sitting area with chairs in the sand to watch the ducks and fish. They also have chickens by the property. The outhouse was very clean and spacious, and was a short walk from our campsite. Lisa had shown us where we were staying and was super friendly and helpful! If I’m in the area again, we will definitely be camping here! 10/10 camping experience all around :-)

We’ve stayed at Sleek Acres twice now and it’s been such an amazing experience. Earl & Lisa are very welcoming and attentive. Their property is beautiful and their dog and ducks are welcoming too. Campsite 1 was where we stayed at. It’s near the other sites as well as the bathroom but it still has privacy to it. We highly recommend camping here!

4 nights at Celtic Glen Farm Stay

Lessie and Phil are great hosts that communicate very well. The quarry entrance site was just right for our 48' rig, but an experienced driver is a must for parking and turning around with such a large rig. We enjoyed golden hour views over the stone henge and campfires in their stone fire rings. We recommend Cataract Falls to the north and McCormick's Creek State Park's water fall and lodge dining to the south. Out east part way to Bloomington is Phat Daddy's BBQ and Jiffy Treat's homemade ice cream right next door. All very affordable. Be sure to checkout Spencer with its train tracks running right beside the courthouse. An hour south is a fun underground boat ride at Blue Spring Caverns Park. Be sure to stop by Better Than Mama's Bakery stand between Speser and Elletsville for delicious self serve sourdough goodies.

1 night at Sheepy Acres

Very hospitable and kind hosts. Titus went out of the way to make sure our stay was comfortable. My kids enjoyed playing with the kittens and watching the chickens and sheep. We couldn’t stay very long but we would love to come back and swim in the pond next trip.

1 night at Walnut Valley Realm Campground

What a great spot. The Cul de Sac is definitely a more remote site but I came out to do some hiking so that was exactly what I was looking for. The trails were well maintained, even with soggy weather and I found a few other sites I'd like to spend a few nights at next. Clean sites, beautiful property and if I'd had any questions I have no doubt Brian would have had an answer.

Taylor's site is as-advertised, is in a quiet but convenient location to the Indy/Noblesville region and was everything we needed. Taylor was great on communication and went above and beyond the call of duty when our van got stuck in soft earth from recent heavy rains in the area: he pulled us out with his truck and gave us a dozen fresh eggs from his chickens for the trouble!

Camping on Whitney’s land is a dream come true!!! So much to explore on land and in the river. There is an eagles nest right across from his place, so be sure to pack those binoculars!!! 10 out of 10 recommend this place! Really unique spot! Easy to find with Hipcamp directions. Titus was super welcoming. He met us at the barn, gave a quick tour, and led us to the site by golf cart. Hawk Roost was private, shaded, and clean. The tent pad barely fit our large tent but worked fine. We loved the wood chips around camp to keep it dry. Bathrooms were clean, potable water was about 100 yards away, and firewood was generously provided. He even delivered more during our stay when we needed it. It is a working pasture with sheep, so expect some strong smells and poop throughout the trails and camp roads. It didn’t bother us, but it’s worth noting. Our dog had the time of her life running around off-leash in the fenced-in pasture and having stare-downs with the sheep. There was some distant noise like sirens and machinery, but otherwise it was peaceful and full of birdsong. We would absolutely come back, especially with a group. It’s a great mix of rustic and thoughtful.

The property is near the toll road. Some guests do not notice the noise others have been more sensitive to it. The sky appears to be scattered with diamonds on a clear night and during season the fireflies light the trees up like twinkling lights at Christmas! Learn more about this land: We have an 18 acre mini farm, close to a small town and near a river. We have two small ponds that can be fished in during the early spring, wildlife, and birds to watch. There are 6 very nice areas for camp sites that allow for privacy and relaxation. Each site has a fire pit and table. We also have just put in a new out house and have a port-a-potty for our campers to use. We are 10 minutes from Interstate 70 and only 30 minutes from Indianapolis. If you are just passing through or arriving late, let us know and we will be happy to have a campfire started for you. Accommodations can be made for group camping! Sleek Acres is a total of 13 acres, which includes our homestead, our chicken yard and barn, a fishing pond, and over 8 secluded acres to the back of the property where guests can explore (including walking trails). There are hungry catfish and bass in the pond who are always happy to be fed (we provide the fish food). Fishing is allowed, but catch and release only (under 12"), please! A small group of ducks live on the pond and will happily greet you as you walk to the beach. There is a porta potty near the campsites with a handwashing station, that is open year round. We established this homestead in 1981. The original 10 acres grew to 15 after acquiring our neighbors smaller lots. With one of those properties we used the well and septic and built camp sites to entertain our friends and family. We have opened this up to some outside travelers to attract interest in our local community. Travel trailers, Fifth wheels, Toy haulers, Class A RVs, Class B RVs, and Class C RVs allowed. All campers must be self contained with your own bathroom. Learn more about this land: Camp Ames is located on the scenic Mississinewa River 3.5 miles outside of Peru, Indiana. We have full service camp sites. The camp shack is appointed with a picnic table and TV to catch up on the latest news. Bald eagles are a huge attraction in this area. Acres Trust Nature Preserve is a short walk away. We have our own 4 acre wildflower meadow that attracts many butterflies and birds during the summer months. It's just a peaceful, quiet place to visit. Cell phone service is not great here but not totally absent if you stand in the right place. Wi-Fi is available. This is our private camp ground and not a for public use unless arrangements are made with us. We will assign your site before your arrival. For 10 days each July, Peru celebrates the Circus City Festival with rides, crafts, food, games, and more. The highlight, however, is the live amateur circus that has performances throughout the festival. Mississinewa Resevoir: Located 3 miles from Camp Ames Mississinewa Lake is a seasonal resevoir designed for flood control. That said, depending on rainfall during the summer, many recreational activities are available. Swimming at the beach, boating, and fishing. A nice campground and hiking are also on site. Nickel Plate Trail: Located 2.9 miles from Camp Ames This asphalt trail is one of the best in the State to ride or walk on!!! It keeps getting better because the trail keeps getting extended with more pathway added. The volunteers do a superb job up keeping this 50 mile path. Make this a to do for a beautiful Fall ride once the leaves begin to change. You'll be immersed in intense colors and wonderful woodsy sights and smells. Seven Pillars: Located 0.8 miles from Camp Ames This breathtaking formation along the Mississinewa River was created over the centuries as wind and water eroded the limestone, carving rounded buttresses and alcoves into the north bluff of the river. Seven Pillars Nature Preserve - Acres Land Trust - Located 0.3 miles from Camp Ames! This preserve on the south side of the Mississinewa River is named after the landmark 25-foot limestone pillars, also owned by ACRES, which are located on the north side of the river. On top of the bluff grow red cedar, Juneberry and shadbush. In the preserve are beech, maple and other trees, as well as open meadow. The Miami Nation continues to gather at the pillars. The preserve is 148 acres of woods open to the public to walk the woods. There is 1.8 miles of trail. PRESERVE RULES: As a preserve visitor, you are responsible for keeping these habitats undisturbed. Beginning Labor Day Weekend, ride the tractor and trolley through the Orchard, for tours and apple picking. Toward the end of September through October, the trolley will stop in the pumpkin patch for u-pick. There is no parking or admission fee, and no charge for the ride through the Orchard. More than apples and pumpkins, there’s a playground area and petting zoo for the kids (and the kiddos at heart). During September and October, saddle up a horse, and take a horse ride on the weekends for $1. We have 2 dogs, Whiskey and Barb, Whiskey will usually keep her space but bark, if you ignore her she will be friendly, acts mean but never bites. Barbara is a Jack Russell. She will jump in the truck if you don't tell her not to and will happily run off with snacks. We ask you please don't feed them as it will teach them to come for food and some people don't appreciate the dogs.. This is a farm so you may see and smell animals. Depending on when you book you may even be somewhat near animals. Be aware of this and be ready to keep dogs contained. We typically run pigs in the woods around the cove but we move them regularly and keep the smell to a minimum by doing so.
