This is my son and I's third year coming here. It's becoming a tradition now and the memories we are building here are life- long worthy. Even the three hour drive we make one way, is filled with laughter and how we can't wait to get there. This piece of paradise is worth every mile and every smile!

We had an absolute amazing time at The Hideaway at Cooper Lake. We initially only reserved for 2 nights but we were having such a a great time we had to extend our stay. Our host Natalie went above and beyond in answering my many questions, helping me sort booking issues among other things. We are a family of 5 (teenager, young adult, spouse, myself and our puppy). We love camping. With so many things to do, the view and the fact that it's private (only 2 sites) was well worth the cost. The fishing was exceptional. We fished day and night until our hearts content. My husband is a huge fisherman and I caught a bigger fish which I struggled luring in. Beds and furniture were very comfortable. Although we could hear traffic from the highway, it didn't bother us. It was a break from city living noise (non-stop sirens and airport). We brought our stereo and played at low volume which blocked any highway noise. We went to a local chain store to purchase items we forgot and additional food for extended stay. Not only did we need a vacation but it was a great way to spend quality time as a family doing activities together. We do recommend that you have a 4x4 or AWD vehicle (country rugged road), be mindful of weather, read description of what is offered and ask as many questions as needed. We can't wait to be back.

It’s a very intentional setup. From the PDF walkthrough and fun water activities to the coziness of the tent itself, everything is perfectly placed and thought yhrough— which makes for that much better of an experience.

Stayed at the round room. Natalie mentioned personal matters, so maybe bad timing, but there were some discrepancies from the listing.
The dining area and cooking arrangement were not the same as the listing. The cooking and eating utensils were in a plastic bin that was filled with 3” of rainwater when we got there, probably for at least a day. The table/grill was behind the yurt in a shady/buggy area.
The grill fuel provided wouldn’t thread onto the grill so I cooked dinner in the fire pit, although they delivered a new tank after about an hour.
The side bed was not made for us like the photos, but they delivered additional sheets when they brought the fuel. We made the bed, our stuff was already in the yurt.
The “composting toilet” in the listing photo is not the one near the site or it’s changed because we just had a full porta pottie, no wood interior like a composter.
The sink and shower did not work, looked like it was out of water and power for the heater’s electronics.
The site is very close to highway and freight train line (horns all night).
The boats were cool. There were towels in the photos but we didn’t receive any, didn’t recall that being an extra.
We paid $250/ 1 night plus Hipcamp fees but it didn’t feel like it was being maintained well enough. The host and her sister were both an hour away, we’ve had a lot better luck at hipcamps where the host lives on property, this was our first HC hiccup

Great location and very peaceful. another couple was camping in the other tent but we never noticed they were there. Fishing was amazing and the host was awesome. Highly recommend, will be coming back for sure

This was my second time coming back to Natalie’s land. It is such a beautiful property. The dogs enjoyed the space and it was very private and peaceful. Will continue to come back.

Awesome spot to glamp! ! Lots to do with the water activities and walking trail around the lake. Ordered the coffee for two, charcuterie, and s’mores board. All were great and would recommend! Natalie was a lovely host as well! Looking forward to coming back and renting both spots at the Hideaway next time with friends!

The Hideaway was a dreamy, eclectic, whimsical camp site that was super cozy and comfortable for me and my kids ranging in age from 2-19, in addition to our dog. As soon as we arrived, my 10 year old ran into the tent and then ran back out and said “MAMA ITS SO NICE IN THERE!” The tent was beautifully decorated and the beds and blankets are more comfortable than what I sleep on at home! It was even stocked with interesting books, one of which I cannot get my mind off of since I picked it up! The site is very clean, very few bugs, and there’s a pretty path that circles the lake you can walk on. The shower rooms and bathrooms are clean and I was pleasantly surprised to see them stocked with quality lotions and hair products for all hair types, which I appreciated since my kids are biracial. The boats and kayaks were perfect and we had fun getting onto the floaties in the lake. I had been hoping to swim there too but the water was rather murky. The grill was easy to operate and the plates and cutlery made the trip super convenient. I hope to come back with my mom and my brother soon.

We went on a mother/daughter glamping adventure and it was wonderful. There are so many activities available such as kayaks, paddle boats, fishing and a lily pad to stay entertained all day long. The yurt is beautiful and comfortable. There is a grill, fire pit and even a private bathroom. You can't go wrong here!

Natalie's land was beautiful and amazing, with lush greenery and open spaces that created a peaceful atmosphere. My girlfriend and I had the best time exploring the nearby Indiana Dunes, which offered stunning views of sunset, sunrise and clear waters. The site also provided fun activities like kayaking and pedal boating, adding to our adventure. Natalie is the best host you can have and will do anything to make everything right, ensuring our stay was perfect in every way. The combination of natural beauty, exciting activities, and Natalie's exceptional hospitality made our visit truly unforgettable. Definitely recommended this to everyone I know.

We loved our stay at The Hideaway. We have visited twice now and both times have been a wonderful experience. Natalie the host is very kind & accommodating. She takes pride in the property & amenities, by maintaining the grounds, the lake, and the campsites. The Yurts are roomy and clean, the beds are extremely comfortable - this place takes camping to a whole new level. We had our own shower, porta-john, gas grill, and firepit. The water toys are awesome too, kayaks, peddle-boats, and a water Lilly pad for floating. Our dogs love it too, they can be off-leash and we feel very safe with them exploring the grounds. Both sites have privacy and are situated on the lake perfectly. I could go on and on- highly recommend this spot!

We loved staying on Natalie's land! There were so many thoughtful touches that made our stay special - from the homey details in the tent to the solar powered lights illuminating our way to the bathroom in the night, Natalie seems to have thought of everything to make her guests comfortable. We really enjoyed the lake - making use of the kayaks, paddleboat, and lily pad. We enjoyed walking around the lake on the well maintained path (about .45 mile). Our dog was with us and really enjoyed HIS stay as well. I felt safe letting him be off-leash (he's well behaved).
We also enjoyed visiting the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore, which is dog friendly (unlike the state park right next to it).

Off the beaten path you will find the cutest haven. The serenity this space has to offer is second to none. The amenities were so thoughtful and the restrooms/shower houses were clean. The perfect place to disconnect with your significant other or family from all the hustle and bustle.

The Stargazer Tent
Myself and our friends really enjoyed our peaceful getaway at Natalie’s hideaway! The scenery was beautiful and Natalie was very accommodating and attentive! It’s a great location to feel secluded but not too far from activities as well. A must-stay if you’re in the area!

We had a wonderful time! This place is really charming, a hidden gem! We paddled around the lake, sat by the campfire and enjoyed ourselves. The area is well maintained, the facilities were clean and the sleeping arrangements were comfortable! Also decorated really cute! We will be back! Thanks!

The site set up was fabulous. Loved having some real beds to sleep on. The attention to detail was impressive. The site was close enough to the national and state park to enjoy exploring. The host was super helpful and communicative. The only thing to note is that the site is close to a train and you can hear it when it passes. Was not a problem for us but for someone looking for complete quiet, it may be an issue.

Natalie was such an awesome host! The yurt was so clean and cozy and very spacious for 2 couples and 2 dogs. It was so nice to be able to leave most of our camping stuff behind as they thought of so many amenities. We absolutely loved playing in the lake. Everything was so clean and well kept including the bathroom and shower areas. Will absolutely be back!
