The outdoor bath and rainfall shower were the highlights of our stay! We were honeymooning and it was such a short stay that we didn’t get to interact much but the staff were amazing, the dinner was delicious, and it was such a homey feel even with complete strangers. The art porch is well stocked also!

Let's just say that this place made my ol' hippie heart fill with joy...to the extent that I applied for and was offered to be a staffer for November! Should you be a wanderer, an artist, a hiker or any kind of free spirit this is a beautiful place and community to stop for a rest. And the nest!!!!!! I adored watching a thunderstorm while all snuggled up and cozy and falling asleep to the crickets and tree frogs all around me. A total immersion forest rest :)

We had a magical stay at our nest. It was so rejuvenating to wake up surrounded by the trees and watch the rain fall for hours. It was great to have a ceiling fan and we had everything we needed thanks to the helpful crew. Even though everything was clean, I was happy to bring my own cotton sheets to help with the heat. I’d highly recommend Lost River Hostel to anyone looking to reconnect with themselves, each other and nature on a deeper level.

Book this! My boy friend and I stayed here just for the night for a little get away and we Will ABSOLUTELY be back to stay much longer! I have been in need of such relaxation and this was just perfect! The staff are so kind and we loved our stay!

We were only stay for one night but had a great time! Every one that worked there was so nice, our best was super comfy and they fed us. We met Luna the pup and all the chickens were awesome! Only recommendation is definitely bring a flash light when you stay. The trails a lit up a bit but a flashlight would of been helpful ✌🏻

Nice place to settle down. The beds are outdoors covered with mesh to keep the bugs out but nothing is 100% proof. You have to carry your stuff to the sleeping site. You can shower in the hostel or the outdoor bathroom with high ceilings and one wall is open to nature. There is a small lagoon for swimming. Clothing is optional. Communication via Hipcamp messaging wasn’t good. Never got a message from them at all. Only when I called them picked up. There is a worker at the house.

This was a gorgeous spot with very welcoming staff and more-than-expected accommodations. We witnessed the eclipse here and had some magical experiences.
We stayed in a nest (which had a ceiling fan and an outlet!), but there was no way to secure it from the inside while sleeping, which would have made us feel much more secure.
Dinner was provided and allowed for a gathering of guests, but the layout of the property and sites made it very easy to keep to yourself, if you preferred.
THERE IS AN ART PORCH. And it is just as lovely as it sounds. Also notable: labyrinth, frog pond, fabulous plants, indoor shower and toilet, as well as multiple equipped outhouses, fridge for your things, and a beautiful drive to get there.

Words cannot express how wonderful this stay was , but I will do my best . My partner and I went for a weekend and stayed in a Nest ; they come with a very cozy bed , bedding , a ceiling fan and privacy curtains. Depending on where you stay you may have other Nests nearby or people may need to cross in front of yours to get to their own space , but during our stay everyone was quiet , respectful and kind . Scott took us to a hidden gem of a park with an absolutely breathtaking pair of caves , a beautiful swimming spot with water flowing up from below the ground , and the coldest most refreshing water I’ve ever felt . The Hostel itself is uniquely beautiful and lovely in its own right - Close enough to town to get emergency supplies with ease but immersed in enough nature to be peaceful and serene , we were welcomed in to a sunroom full of art supplies and books , they had community instruments , and tons of handcrafted, wholesome, nature themed decor from staff and residents of the past . There is a lagoon a short walk away with a dock absolutely perfect for stargazing , Two sweetheart kitties , and a handful of friendly chickens who will love you forever if you offer them a snack .Most incredible of all was the community there - Guests and Staff alike were all such interesting and thoughtful people , we had some pretty amazing connecting conversations around the campfire after Tracy cooked us an amazing dinner. I love this place and can’t wait to return!

HipCamp overbooked lost river hostel and was not able to stay so I don’t know what it’s like to stay there, but it look cool having troubles getting a refund though on my money

Full Size Forest Nest
I loved the weekend I spent at Lost River. The nest was delightful and it was really convenient to be able to use the refrigerator and kitchen. While I spent most of the daytime on my own, it was really lovely to be able to share some community time with staff and other guests in the evenings, when I chose to. Already planning another trip soon.

Lost River Hostel is a hostel with a mission, that the people who stay there are inspired to improve themselves and the world around them. The “nests” are well built and very cosy, and I was given a welcome tour of the property immediately when I arrived. As an introverted people person, I appreciated the communal dinner and gratitude circle to connect with the other residents, but there was plenty of space for my own alone time and relaxation. Lost River Hostel feels like a retreat that is close to home. Highly recommend!

I stayed in one of the king nests and I am in love. So cozy and such a unique experience! The outdoor showers are amazing, trails around the property are beautiful, and the company is fun. Dinner was an added bonus. Definitely worth more than $50 / night!

This was genuinely an awesome overall experience. I chose this place for my girlfriend and I in hopes it would be something we both needed away from the every day stresses of life. It not only met my expectations but exceeded them. Every one of the staff members brought something unique to the table that made the experience that much more special. From the moment we got there, we felt welcomed and like we fit right in. The gratitude circle and communal dinner were wonderful to partake in. The outside shower house was so relaxing. When we woke up in the morning we took a 15 minute meditative walk to the labyrinth before cooling off with a dip in the lagoon and even took the kayaks out for a minute. It was wonderful.

I went camping with my 4yr old, 1yr old, boyfriend and father in law. We had a ton of fun. The kids loved the frog pond, enjoyed the chickens. Loved the musical instruments that they had and all of the trails. The showers were to die for. Absolutely the coolest experience I've ever had. We 100% plan on returning again. Had a great time roughing it in the woods. All of the staff was great. Kim was awesome. Super friendly. Very informative. Had alot of fun

The Bird’s Neat was awesomely located in the woods overlooking the main path and shower house. The bed was big and comfy. The windows were the best part. Just up a rock stairway from the treehouse is an amazing lagoon we spent much of our time at.
Staff was incredible, welcoming, helpful. Kim was outstanding as a host.

Ramshackle in the best possible way - laid back, woodsy and farm like.
Roaming chickens, muddy frog pond, outhouses, outdoor bath, there is one guest indoor bathroom on the property.
If you have never been to a hostel before its a community environment helping out encouraged.
Great art room it was well stocked lots to use. Awesome bongo drums and fire circle. Walking is a big part of being on the property, roaming deer, squirrels, saw an eagle flying over.

Lost River Hostel Nest (w/dinner)
Wonderful little retreat hidden in the hillside. It feels like stepping into a community, with communal dinner and the general vibe. We had little kids with us and they enjoyed it too, with the lagoon swimming and outdoor showers.
