Home Sweet Home, tucked in the heart of agriculture and lake life, Angola is a wonderful small town in the north east corner of Indiana.  Songdog Meadows is our little piece of joy, from morning swims in the pond, long walks with our retrievers and sunsets to take your breath away, it is truly and deeply a treasure we cherish.  The property host a variety of apple trees, open grass land, and a large cluster of trees surrounding a 3/4 acre pond, while being surrounded by wood lots on three sides and open fields to the west.  It is truly a peaceful haven in a rural country area.  Learn more about this land: Hang your hammock or pitch a tent just outside our 3/4 acre pond. There are two basins with a channel and a peaceful tree filled grass area between. The pond is in the corner of the 10 acre lot where we live at the end of a dirt road with only a small amount of traffic. The camp site is walk in on mowed pathways, with the driveway and parking area less than 200 yards away. There is a security light so you will never be in complete darkness. A stone fire pit and picnic table sit just off shore of the swimming area of the pond. There are several wide mowed pathways surrounded by prairie grasses, shaded by large trees. The area can easily handle several tents, hammocks and small RVs. The area is rural farm land with a handful of houses on the short dirt road. But this property is surrounded by wood lots and open fields. Two neighbors houses are visible but separated by trees. Our house is visible from the pond and camping area.

Perfect
Even the beautiful pictures don’t do this place justice. We were steeped in nature, with frogs croaking, birds chirping, ducks in the pond. And no road noise. It really is off the beaten path, but feels safe-not isolated. Everything was perfect, from the stack of firewood next to the fire pit to the campsite location. Mowed paths through the fields were great for walking. There are wildflowers and just gorgeous wide open spaces. Even though we live 11 hours away, I would plan a trip again, to spend more than a night in this heavenly spot.

Quiet and quaint
The stay was quiet and quaint. Easy access between a few woods near the pond. It was perfect for our dog to run along the mowed paths and the field. Fire pit was ready with wood next to the pond but we chose to get some shut eye instead.

Lighting
The rather large street light might have been for security but made it difficult for me to sleep. That is my only complaint.

Clean and quiet
A perfect place to stay on a cross country drive. I stayed right next to pond. Clean, soft grass. The pond was a very pleasant surprise - clean water, sandy bottom to enter water.

Great first Hipcamp experience!
We had a wonderful time at Songdog Meadows. The site was easy to find and we loved taking a refreshing dip in the pond and taking leisurely walks around the pond, listening to the frogs and taking in the sights and scents of all the foliage. We enjoyed having our own private site and took advantage of being a short 15 drive from an awesome ice cream shop called Scoop. The property was quiet and beautiful.

The pond is beautiful and a great place to end a long day of hiking. This site is close to Pokagon State Park where I hiked both days. Will definitely return if I am back in the area.

Picturesque
Totally charming campsite. Private and picturesque. Hosts met me when I drove up and gave me directions on where to park which was helpful, since I arrived pretty late. You can drive down through mowed paths to park right up close the campsite, so no walking with gear required. Loved that they left ample firewood for guests to use, such a nice touch. Be advised that this is right on a beautiful pond, so if you are there in the spring the bullfrogs will be partying all night! Bring earplugs and and be prepared for night sounds.

Nice Quiet Spot
It was a nice and secluded spot back in the corner, but i don't think I was supposed to be parked there. Leaving the next morning I saw the route that Beth had told me to take so the route i did take was merely a walking path. I'm sorry Beth if i screwed things up, but boy was that a good spot though I found!

So lucky to stay at Songdog!
We had a great time at Songdog Meadows over Memorial Day weekend! The weather was lovely, the site was extremely clean and well maintained, all of the accommodations were as described in the listing. The pond was pristine and perfect for swimming. We floated around in tubes all afternoon listening to birds and loved sitting by the fire pit by night. The sunsets were beautiful and there were surprisingly little bugs. The grocery store was just 15 minutes away, which was super convenient for last minute items. And we took some nice long walks along the dirt roads each day! A few words of caution: *We arrived after a TON of rain the previous night and the ground stayed very muddy all weekend, so boots were a must to avoid a mud-trashed camper. The rain/soft ground also contributed to a bit of difficulty driving our pop-up down to the pond camping area, but we knew going in this was a try it at our own risk scenario. *The site is down a dead end road, so it felt pretty private, but there didn’t seem to be a great spot for restroom use out of view of the road or the house. So a bathroom tent or curtain would be a nice thing to bring next time. *Also, while fairly secluded, we heard lawnmowers constantly from neighboring land, as well as gunshots in the early evening. Not dealbreakers for us and very obviously out of the owners control, but not ideal. All in all, our family of five and two dogs really enjoyed our time at Songdog Meadows and would happily return! Thanks!

Quiet and beautiful setting
What a great place to spend the night, or even a few days. The pond is serene and a nice place to hang out and recharge. It is a little ways off the highway, but close enough for the through traveler to stay at. We highly recommend Beth’s Hipcamp.

Beautiful property. I stayed on the hill because the ground was pretty wet. I would love to return when the weather is warmer. But this was convenient to I-80 on which I am driving cross-country.

Chilly and fun
We camped for a few rainy/stormy March days, and we had a great time! The property is very quiet and surrounded by farms. The pond was pretty - probably even more so in the spring or summer. It was easy to find, and we appreciated the gravel driveway to park in. Only issue was the weather, but we knew what we were getting into there. Highly recommend Cahoots Coffee in Angola, too.

I loved this spot. It was so peaceful and lovely camping near the pond on the edge of the woods. I was fortunate to have a beautiful sunset too. I didn’t have the chance to meet Beth, but I had a lovely experience nonetheless and would definitely recommend this spot as a tranquil place to camp.
